I agree in many aspects. Having perfect physics is not everything. For many people (myself included) dry simulators like AC while absolutely stunning and impressive from a technical standpoint, lack the immersion factor of feeling like part of a specific motorsport.
There is a reason why GT Sport is so much more popular than AC. Of course accessibility plays a big factor, but IMHO GT Sport does a better job at being a "racing simulator" rather than a "driving simulator" which AC is. Hope that statement doesn’t offend anyone. 😉
A good video with balanced commentary. Two points…. you miseed the 60s F1 cars in RF2. They are pretty epic to drive; give them a go on historic Spa! My second point is that Codemasters simulates the feeling of being an F1 driver better than any other title. But it doesn’t simulate driving an F1 car. There is a big difference between the two approaches.

I would love to see some maniac try to mod the intricacies of F1 into Assetto Corsa to pair with the amazing RSS Formula cars. I’m not even sure if that’s possible, but I don’t see why not.
I so sick of hearing how good assetto corsa is? The AI sucks there is hardly any lobby’s!! So it’s great is you drive around the track ny yourself?
A "Sim" where players with Pad and assists are faster than those who play on the wheel without assists, cannot be called a Simulator. I believe that I will migrate to the GT3 ACC once and for all. ( PS. The singleplayer of F1 2020 is amazing.)

f1 sim racing is not just about online racing, therefore modded assetto corsa is very easy to set up and with better rss physics really overleaps codemasters’ title by a large margin
The physics may suffer compared to hardcore sims, but the overall experience of career modes, and now my team, is what puts the official game over the top for me. You also have to remember that the game is also marketed to casual players and kids, so if you make it too realistic it will be undrivable to the majority of players

i always feel racing games are missing the hairraising, nail biting speed sensation. So why is the sensation of speed so difficult to come across in games. Is it the quality of 3d effects, the # of objects or is it the monitor……. like what makes speed look & feel like real speed.? What F1 game has the best real speed feel to it?? Great review btw!

Obviously other games (be it simcade, sim or arcade) can not do a better job at simulating the whole field of cars and a championship for F1 because that is the thing only Codemasters (now EA . . . rip F1 20XX games) have the rights to make at the F1 games, other devs have to pay for some cars , do similar/prototype cars and simulators deal with it just on the simulation part (even because it is what makes the simulators special from arcades and simcades, the physics).
In terms of simulating career, yes, the F1 games do a better job than any simulator and grant much more immersion for career immersion.
In terms of physics, all the simulators you mentioned do a better job than any of the Codies F1 games and grant much more immersion for physics.
in the end it is just about what you want at the moment, the fun of an arcade is not the same fun of a simcade and also not the same fun of a simulator, to each their own and people can play and I think people can enjoy all of their games for what they are/deliver.

So what do you think about 2020? I think it’s pretty good. Haven’t played 2019 tho… I’m on pc with high FPS and 4k. It’s engaging to say the least. I tried playing acc again today and man it’s hard to go to that game after racing F1 cars… I like speed and insane reactions. I hope they continue to make the game better and build in a more realistic pro sim option.
F1 2020 game could be better yes its way better then f1 19 though they could matching rammers with rammers for instance like gta online does with either hackers or toxic players and match people with racing line with other racing line charters i mean players xD f1 code Masters just like fifa accesible to all from newbies to sweat lords

im still playing F1 2011 in 2021, i feel that was and still is the best sim from all the codemasters games. turn off ALL the aids and get kristans ai mod v2 and its a great challenging game with good handling characteristics with power oversteer well simulated,which is often the problem with most of them.
Assetto corsa, formula hybrid, community skin pack. Use content manager to set up a custom grid, you can lock in ai levels there (like to put mazepan ai level lower, but aggression high for immersion lol), 2021 tracks are available as mods, us cm again to setup a championship. Not perfect, but closest you’ll get, and vr!

Something everyone’s over looking is that all the games listed are indeed sims however the F1 series is a sim-cade heavily leaning on the arcade side
