You can either upgrade a line on your account, or you can add a new line to your account.
To get the best deal with Verizon, you need to trade in your old device.
Here are Verizon’s iPhone 13 deals:

You can trade-in your old phone either at a physical Apple or Verizon store at the time you are purchasing your new iPhone 13, or via a mail-in box that either Apple or Verizon provides. Once Verizon or Apple receives your device, you should see the trade-in credits applied to your bill after 2 billing cycles. Verizon applies the credits over a 24-month period.
Verizon also charges a one-time $35 activation fee per line, and you will likely need to pay sales tax on the retail price of iPhone 13. Sales tax varies from state to state, but I estimate it will be about $52 with a 6.5% sales tax rate.

I got two $350 rebates and one $500 rebate. I’m retired military so I got a break there of $10 per cell so I pay $35 a month for each of my three kids and it’s $55 for me. I traded I phone 8 and I phone XR….for two I phone 13….for my wife and me….both free. With the finance 2 year credit. With Verizon with unlimited plan that stays as is. You mail your phone back or take to the store. Taking it to the store is what I recommend. The catch is they keep you for 2 years. Which is fine. We are over 55 so discount for that as well. I been with Verizon several years. Good service so you get what you pay for.

This was such a schtick. I spent an hour in the store with 1 employee dealing with 1 customer who had an annoying issue with an Apple Watch account. He came to me occasionally. So I was getting 2 free 13 pro maxs with X and 11,trade in. So much fine print. Premium unlimited plans. Etc etc . Plus he said my paid off unlocked att phones are probably still locked and I would have to do that myself. Seeing the incredible inefficiency and tech bottlenecks he had dealing with the other customer, the whole process just disgusted me

Sorry to inform you but Verizon will only give you $36 if your trade in device only has a cracked screen. I am personally in the middle of trying get them to honor the deal as you just described it and I am only hitting stone walls with the very poor customer service.
you shouldn’t include carrier plan costs for the verizon column and not the apple card column. That skews the perception of the costs. You’re going to have to pay for a plan on top of the $25 monthly cost for the phone for the apple card w/ apple trade in.

Nothing is free. Any carriers increased their phone plans to cover credit on phone trade in.
From what I can tell this is false.
I recently did the trade I got $440 for my cracked screen iPhone 12 Pro and also had to pay an early upgrade fee of $457.61. I am now paying off the new iPhone 13 using the standard monthly payment plan over 24 months…

Scam!!!! I went thru the whole process of upgrading my iPhone XR which is in perfect condition, the whole time said credit will be $700 then when I went to the cart to buy it asked me again about my trade in and then it said only $135! Verizon wants you to go thru the whole process and then say your phone is only worth pennies! Of course I declined the upgrade! False advertising!
Verizon is literally the worst. I applied to get the iPhone 13 with monthly payments and get a $800 on my 11 pro max. Not only did they not have the phone I wanted, but they also didn’t even bother to help me to get my number ported to Verizon. Apparently it was going to take 2-5 business days to get my number ported. On top of that I had to pay $274 to get my plan and phone up front. I walked out and headed to AT&T. Not only were the workers super nice. They actually put the effort for me to get my number ported, when they did, within SECONDS my number was transferred to AT&T, and I had the grand total of $170 to pay for the phone plan and phone. I also got 30 days to ship my phone to them since I am Currently in colloge
