500 dollars is not a budget phone, it’s a midrange. A budget is 250 and lower and there are a ton of Chinese phones in this category. I have the Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 pro which is an amazing phone. It’s now a year old but still amazing and it’s successor is just as amazing. Plus the Realme, Huawei, OPPO, Vivo, Moto, and other brands have true budget phones. Here’s the list of attributes the 8 pro has. 6.53 inch 1080 P display, gorilla glass 5 front and back, 6GB Ram 128GB storage, a quad camera with 64mp, 8mp wide angle, 2mp macro and 2mp depth sensor, 4500 mah battery with fast charge, NFC, headphone jack, IR blaster, updated to Android 10, gets an antutu bench mark score of 285,000 and all for about 200 dollars. Now that is a budget phone. You’re definitely on a different budget. You like Apple that explains it. Only Apple users would think a 500 dollar phone was a budget phone.

TCL camera sucks even with Gcam, don’t be fooled haha. You can watch a youtube video of it. Looks like total trash.
If you just need a worker phone for like doordash, than the TCL is nice, or other delivery apps and the like.
Trying to get pixel 4a but it is pain in the ass to get if it is just little smaller than my last that is fine.. Plus i pay something like 440 euros not 350 bucks fuck me dead…

My 1st phone I ever had was the iphone 5s I got it in grade 3 ,I never knew how good it was till now,the 8mp camera is better than most budget androids

And I was amazed at how unpolished, unstable, and clunky everything was.
You first notice how unstable many popular apps are on Android the moment you look at the reviews, and the ratings.
So many complaining of their door dash app, messenger, and other apps doing odd things like crashing, or taking over the microphone even after a call ends.
I also noticed my camera, tho not often one in a blue moon would crash. I googled it and this is a common thing that depends on the phone, and does happen.
Very inconsistent performance, due to the nature of Android. one moment it’s quick, then another time laggy, odd. Phones heat up and get HOT as well.
The quality of the apps, how reliable they aren’t, and just the stability of the phone as a whole left me going back to my Iphone 11 in an instant.
Honestly, I can’t believe people use Android. My jobs require me to have complete stability, and Android simply CAN NOT supply that.
I am able to do everything on the Iphone I did on the android, minus live wallpapers. But I thought it was cool for a few hours and never used it again as most do.
On my Iphone, I know everything works, and every app will work, and I know I can trust it.
You kinda sold me on the S10 Lite, but now the price is $650…

My samsung s6 broke and I thought about replacing it with the s9. However I did have a few problems with the battery of the s6, I even had to get a new one after it stopped charging completely and after that it still wasn’t the best.
So now I am thinking of just staying away from samsung since my brother has the same issue with the same phone…but it is a shame because I actually liked everything else about the phone. I am not a tech person, I just want a decent phone, but I really don’t know what to go for. Just an older flagship phone or a new mid range phone? I don’t know anything about phones, I feel like if I enter a store they’ll just recommend me the most expensive phone..help:(

I hope people read my comment but the NUMBER 1 best phone for under 500 is the one plus 7 pro (the 7 proT if you can spend a bit more there mostly the same accept for slightly better performance) i mean it won the best smartphone award 2019 from MKBHD when it was 700 dollars now renewed its around 350 to 400 here’s a list of great things from the one plus 7 pro 1) the amazing screen its 6.7 inch’s covers the whole screen without a notch because it has a popup camera (don’t worry its not going to break on you) at 1440 p AT 90 HERTZ its also amoled so its not a bad LCD panel. it has a 6 8 or 12 gb of ram depending on how much you wanna spend (the 7t pro doesn’t have a 12 gb option for some reason) either 128 or 256 gb of storage a snapdragon 855 (or 855+ for the 7t pro) its glass on the back and front with aluminum a 16 MP selfie camera a 48 MP main lens 3 times zoom telephoto lens a ultra wide able lens (i forgot how many MP those cameras were) the cameras aren’t a strong point on this phone but there not bad there pretty good video isn’t the best but its alright also oxygen OS is super snappy and bloat free. OVERALL i highly recommend you look into the one plus 7 pro or 7 pro T because they are amazing phones regardless of price but definitely for the 400 dollar price range

Nobody needs a $1000 phone, people have just become privilaged these days, ypu dont need the best camera or the latest tech. People just wanna have the latest things.
I currently have the s10 lite, coming from a s7 after 4 years, and it is a complete beast, great cameras, great Super AMOLED display, and snappy. Ik it it’s lacking 120hz, wireless charging and lack of an IP rating, but for $500, it’s worth it.
I have an iPhone 6s and you can say it’s old but doesn’t seem like it at all. Camera is still good and works amazing for everything I need it for.
The a 71 in my opinion is not a great phone it’s only getting updates from two years March 2020 and it has to much Pre-installed apps and the fingerprint sensor takes too long
