Top 10 Best Original Xbox Games
The Xbox is now 20 years old, and so what better time to take a fresh look back at Microsoft’s first console and remember its best games. There were many incredible ones despite the machine enjoying just a four-year lifecycle, and we’ve ranked our top 10 here from a team, including IGN executive editor Ryan McCaffrey, who gamed through it while working at Official Xbox Magazine.

Far Cry Instincts also is a very good game, that showcases what the console can do in graphics quality.

i would have added Dead or alive 3 and Half life 2
Looking for this old Open world xbox game where you can drive 18 wheelers and stuff . You also had a safe house that was a mansion and it had a pool . Kinda like driver and gta in one

Escape from Butcher Bay was incredible for its time! I replayed it many times. Great game 👍👍
20 years of Xbox, man I feel old.
Lord of the Rings: Two Towers and Return of the King were two of my favorite original Xbox games not on this list.

I bought an Xbox based on Fable’s promise. Before it came out (and massively disappointed with it’s shallow, linear gameplay) I stumbled across a little game called Morrowind which changed the trajectory of my gaming life.
My top 10:

Glad ninja gaiden is still loved definitely need a new one like the first game
no Morrowind is not acceptable. It was the first elder scrolls on console and is the reason we have 100 editions of skyrim. That game blew my mind and should be a top 10 xbox game.
Damn good list. Lots of great games and great memories associated with them. Crimson Skies was just too much fun online. Escape from Butcher Bay at the time was the most graphically impressive game I had seen at the time. And Fable more or less got into the RPG space, even if it’s light on the traditional role playing aspect. Good times.
Everyone knows Ninja Gaiden is the GOAT.

"Destroy All Humans", "Metal of Honor Frontline", "Total Overdose", "Scarface: The World is Yours", Indiana Jones & the Emperor’s Tomb", "Shell Shock Nam ’67", "Black", "The Punisher", "Star Wars Jedi Outcast", "The Warriors", "Roadkill", XIII", "Driver Parallel Lines", "Doom 3" & "Predator Concrete Jungle" to name but a few of my favorites!
Stubbs the Zombie should have been in this list!

Buying an original Xbox with some games today to surprise my buddy’s at the get together with a nostalgic throwback!
My first ever console this was. Hunter:The Reckoning, Baldurs Gate: Dark Alliance and the original Splinter Cell being my two fave xbox games ever.
Honorable Mentions: Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay, Project Gotham Racing 2, Dead Or Alive: Ultimate.
GunValkyrie has great graphics and extremely innovative gameplay (also is BC).
I’m just glad I got a few of these games on the list because I love the OG Xbox😊🍻🍺
Halo 2 was my first online multiplayer experience which spawned the juggernaut Xbox live

Ninja Gaiden is my number one Xbox game of all time. Smokes the shit out or the God of War games.
i really want to play more original Xbox games On Xbox One maybe next year please?
My absolute favourite is Midtown Madness 3, unfortunately you can’t play that on the Xbox 360 or Xbox One
How/Why I never subscribed to IGN Games is the biggest mind fudge ever. I would browse and rely on IGN reviews way before most of you nu gen boys and girls were born. Yes. Gamers existed back then too.
Both Mechassault and Mechassault 2 Lone Wolf are outstanding games on the Xbox. Definitely worth an honorable mention at the very least. I’d also love to see a sequel to Crimson Skies High Road to Revenge.
Stop showing new footage of the halo games when you talk about the old ones. Idk why but this drives me nuts and YouTubers do it all the time

Failed list always when you do anything Xbox and Gears of War isn’t top 2…a game that has no rival in the 3rd person shooter genre and basically surpassed Halo in the #1 spot through it’s original trilogy and it doesn’t even get a spot…Trash
I’m kinda surprised I didnt see Project:Snowblind I loved that game, after i got pass the level where there are enemies that can turn invisible but the game was a great FPS

Looking back at these games makes me think what happened to gaming
Man this list isn’t long enough there’s so many incredible Original Xbox games you need like 6 list lol. Off the top of my head Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Buffy Chaos Bleeds licensed games based on a 90’s TV show with some of the slickest hand to hand and weapons based combat in video games. The Matrix Path of Neo a licensed movie game that accurately mimics the awesome actions scenes from the movie it is based on with some of the slickest hand to hand combat you’ll ever play. Doom 3 the absolute gorgeous and terrifying FPS Horror game from ID software taking the Doom franchise somewhere it has never been first-person survival horror action and oh boy was it awesome. Doom 3 Resurrection of Evil the Expansion to Doom 3 that was even more terrifying and fun. Legacy of Kain Blood Omen 2 the superbly written incredibly well acted vampire game with Gorey as hell visuals and gameplay. The Suffering and the Suffering Ties that Bind two terrifying survival Horror games where your trapped inside a haunted prison with a bunch of freakish amalgamations of hell. Tony Hawk 2X the 1st remaster of Tony Hawk 2 that mad the game look and play great add in a whole bunch of levels remastered from the original Tony Hawk but with Tony Hawk 2’s physics and brand new levels. Dead or Alive 3 and Dead of Alive Ultimate 2 of the slickest most action packed fighting games ever and a remaster of the 1st game in the series. Jade Empire another incredible RPG from the legends at Bioware wholly original and based on ancient Chinese mythos. Man this right here isn’t even half of the awesome games that graced the original Xbox there so many more. Like I said you’d need 6 list this size to cover all the awesome games on the system.
