If you’ve seen any of the other Metacritic Top 100’s, you’ll know what to expect. And yes, there are a couple of sports games in here, as usual.
What’s even more interesting is comparing this video with a Top 100 PS1 list … as voted on by gamers, which I have also uploaded! There’s a surprisingly wide disparity between what gamers consider “Top 100” and what critics consider “Top 100″…
On a personal note, I’m majorly bummed out that Omega Boost didn’t make either list. Boo.
Wrost top 10, tekken 3 was good but so overrated… Castlevania sotn 9? imo it should be first, atleast top 3, metal gear solid 6 SF3 was not that good, jesus christ wrost list ever

Hmm, I regret to say that I haven’t played all these videogames; also, some if not all of these titles should be included in a second version of the Sony PS1 classic/mini.

In other words Metacritic only lists 188 ps1 games. Of those 188, 98 are in the green, 73 are yellow, and 17 are red. Compare that to the near 500 (of roughly 1600) ps2 games all in the green.
Games not among their listings include Crash 1/2, Spyro 1/2, Medievil, Twisted Metal 1-3, Tomb Raider 2, Resident Evil 3, Breath of Fire 3, or even OP’s desired Omega Boost, just to name a few.

I always thought people just pretended to enjoy this system in particular. I recall playing many of the games and a lot of the time the only way to play the games was in regular mode, which was too easy, or an extreme difficulty which was too difficult to enjoy.
no twisted metal, vigilante 8, street fihghter ex2, mortal kombat trilogy, bloody roar, syphon filter 2 and 3, blade, jackie chan stunt master, nba 98, tarzan, road rash, armored core, future cop lapd, fighting force, nuclear strike and nuclear dawn.

Road Rash, Front Mission 3, and (how the hell) there is no Hogs Of War.
Too many Final Fantasy, Tony Hawk, Madden NFL. Many games are missing like Twisted Metal, Medievil, Quake II, Crash Bandicoot 1 and 2, etc.

This ranking doesn’t count at all, because a lot of big games of video games history are not in it because they’re from 1997 or before (like crash bandicoot, 1996..), and above all the real rankings back then, until 1999 or 2000, were in the magazines, in the video games press.

THIS is the game world I can still see and feel in my head when I think "video games". It’s so wide and varied. There’s creativity bursting from every-which way… A lot of uniqueness, too… Completely unlike video games today, sadly.
