Marques, I work for a large aerospace engineering firm and I can give you some insights into how the BOM (Bill of Materials) works although exact numbers for each smartphone components/parts will be hard to come by since those are private "negotiated rates" with each supplier. For example if you just google "Apple iPhone 12 BOM" you will usually get an estimate of how much each iPhone costs Apple (about 300-400 bucks) to make but they don’t consider "negotiated rates" which are about 30%-40% lower. Anyway, if you have any manufacturing questions I’d be happy to share what I know! Love your channel! Keep up the excellent work!

It’s not that hard. Make everything decent, make the screen great, and leave out stuff that people on a budget don’t care about (too many camera sensors, wireless charging, glass and metal everything, overly large dimensions, an official IP rating, software skins over base android, face unlock/fingerprint sensor, etc). Put in the future-proofing stuff that people on a budget actually care about that’s missing from high end phones for no reason (headphone jack, expandable memory slot, etc)

  11. Bead Wacker on May 7, 2021 at 4:41 am

Hey Marquis/my name is Marcus and I would spend three bucks on marketing, then I would spend six bucks on the battery. And then 10 bucks on the software and seven bucks on the specs that’s awesome we’ll put in the cameras LOL

  20. Vanessa Hassan on May 7, 2021 at 4:50 am

  31. Deepak Subba on May 7, 2021 at 4:59 am

Screen: 3 Coz for a budget phone, 90 Hz screen is great, moreover there aren’t many apps that can make use of that much refresh rate
Specs: 4, Good Specs is the key, We need powerful device with best SOC we can get
Camera:2 Average camera is more than enough and more over 60 mpx in $200 is not even close to 48 mpx camera of $600 device- Its more of gimmick than actual quality
Battery: 3 with good specs and screen, good battery is important
Hardware: 2 must not be chromium, but good quality plastic such as that of samsung M series is more than ok
Software: 2 Must not be that great, after all software updates and little twics can fix these issue, more over its good SOC can make the software run great, And i dont mind bloat ware that much
Market: 1 When phone have great specs at low value, than not much marketing required. After all most people rely on You tube vedios for the validation over some ads or fliers

    the D2D way ftw

  37. Adwitiya Gupta on May 7, 2021 at 5:07 am

Actually pretty easy so u get a meh screen
    So 2 on screen
Then 2 specs not a lot of people care about this but u should also not just make it garbage that’s bad for specs like a SD 765g or something plus stock android should be enough
    Then 3 battery
    3 hardware
1 software (just get stock android and not spend a penny just making it worse) a lot of manufactures spend too much money on software at the end just making it worse spend nothing just license stock android which is clean and nice
Marketing 3 to get people to know the phone super important to sell the phone
    Then camera 3
Which is pretty good cause people click a lot of photos and they deserve atlest a decent camera.

    Basically nail the fundamentals
