The Best Video Game of 2019 | MojoPlays

When looking back at all the best games of 2019, we can’t help but think of all the amazing titles we got to experience. So, when it came down to deciding the Best Games of the Year, we at MojoPlays found ourselves split across the board, but after much consideration and examining a wide variety of factors, we had to give the top spot to Sekiro, making our game of the year Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice.

It’s great to see Fromsoftware getting some recognition .
Does guys really give me what i want in every game they make .
Also happy to see Capcom successful with their remakes .

  2. Matt Spears on May 4, 2022 at 7:10 pm

Days Gone is definitely my game of the year💪

  3. theultimatehunt on May 4, 2022 at 7:13 pm

Me & My friend made it to the very very end. The final boss is impossible. I just dont have the skills.

  4. Omar on May 4, 2022 at 7:14 pm

For me it’s Resident Evil 2

  5. willy24able on May 4, 2022 at 7:18 pm

It’s a shame that Link’s Awakening Remake and Pokemon Sword & Shield couldn’t be in this list all because of their respective issues. Link’s Awakening Remake got awkward control scheme, the infamous framerate issues, the GODDAMN MOLDORM, Eagle’s Tower & Turtle Rock still being horrible dungeons, lack of improvements in replayability compared to ALBW, and Chamber Dungeons being a worthless disappointing additions. Need I to mention again about Pokemon Sword & Shield being even more divisive than even X & Y? Nintendo is weak this year.

One last thing. Bloodstained Ritual of the Night couldn’t make it in this list because not all versions are created equal especially the Switch version being the worst ever even with the patch.

  6. Nick Murphy on May 4, 2022 at 7:19 pm

Sekiro is the easy number one, but the only game mentioned that I think came close was RE2. The rest are good, just not on Sekiro’s level

  7. Solid Snake on May 4, 2022 at 7:22 pm

Well deserved. That game is a masterpiece.

  8. YoungWolf on May 4, 2022 at 7:24 pm

why is CONTROL not even being considered?

  9. Kris Smith on May 4, 2022 at 7:25 pm

Yea, because it’s the best game that came out this year. This is an easy choice.

  10. DaBaens429 on May 4, 2022 at 7:25 pm

Actually a really well made video from MojoPlays. Solid choice for goty as well.

  11. Bobby Burgess on May 4, 2022 at 7:26 pm

Figures they’d pick some Souls/Borne piece of copy and paste

  12. Joshua Taylor on May 4, 2022 at 7:27 pm

    Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair

  13. Juwan on May 4, 2022 at 7:27 pm

Re2 has a lot of issues honestly which is why it’s not game of the year to me it’s more overhyped by newcomers who didn’t even know how the game was supposed to actually be done yea gameplay great mr x amazing but the characters are dry and so is the story aspects

  14. Its All Rigged on May 4, 2022 at 7:28 pm

Borderlands 3 and The Outer Worlds were infinitely more fun than yet another souls game.

  15. Dwayne Davis on May 4, 2022 at 7:29 pm

I LOVE SEIKRO ! It’s my first From Software game and I’m really enjoying the challenging aspect of it. I’ve played a few games this year that I’ve really enjoyed such as Days Gone and RE2 but Seirko is the one for me. I hope it gets game of the year but at the very least I’m happy that it got nominated and received the recognition it deserves

  16. Iva-Nyaniso Diniso on May 4, 2022 at 7:30 pm

You guys got it right IGN got it wrong they chose control of all games

  17. HolyCross9 on May 4, 2022 at 7:33 pm

This should’ve been Death Stranding’s moment! I mean for being Hideo Kojima fans you numbskulls are big fat hypocrites for disliking Death Stranding.

  18. CBlade0 on May 4, 2022 at 7:33 pm

    Well done and well explained!

  19. Element Rubidium on May 4, 2022 at 7:34 pm

Jedi fallen order should be at least in the top 10

  20. Charlie Mubila on May 4, 2022 at 7:36 pm

Attention everyone! In 2020, a New Age of Comics is coming to the world. A New Age that will change industries! A New Age that will originate from a place many would thought it will be the last place! A New Age that will bring stories that reside within my mind! A New Age… That I am bringing to you all! So be ready, for we are coming.

  21. Fallout76-is A-masterpiece on May 4, 2022 at 7:36 pm

Wow Capcom is competing for the Goty with 2 titles this year .

  22. Six-245 on May 4, 2022 at 7:36 pm

Who wrote this intro? "when looking back at best games of the year, we can’t help but to think about the best games of the year"

  23. Max LgL on May 4, 2022 at 7:37 pm

    Death Stranding !??????

  24. SAMORAY AND NINJA on May 4, 2022 at 7:38 pm

  26. Joseph Hock on May 4, 2022 at 7:39 pm

  27. venom punk on May 4, 2022 at 7:41 pm

I am sorry, sekiro doesn’t deserve game of the year

  28. Vile on May 4, 2022 at 7:46 pm

Now this, out of all the lists watch mojo has made, is a number one spot that is well deserved.

  29. midwestyle on May 4, 2022 at 7:47 pm

    Sekiro is overrated.

  30. Ajay Rob on May 4, 2022 at 7:48 pm

You know a game is good when you haven’t played it but still dying to play and would still vote or recommend it

  31. Novad selir on May 4, 2022 at 7:49 pm

Fantastic choice Devil May Cry 5 and Sekiro are tied for my GOTY.

  32. baptiste lasbats on May 4, 2022 at 7:49 pm

finaly someone talking of the stoyr… Thx guys, it’s too overlooked, partly because of From Soft but still

  33. Flareboxx on May 4, 2022 at 7:52 pm

Fire Emblem Three Houses is my GOTY 🙂

  34. Rock Sun on May 4, 2022 at 7:52 pm

Also, I think the sound design and camera usage when in critical situation is so well-done in Sekiro. Probably only match by RE2 and Death Stranding respectively this year. But this game does an incredible job merging it into one game.

  35. UnkeptMoss328 on May 4, 2022 at 7:55 pm

I’m glad you didn’t give it to RE2. As good as that game is, it’s still a remake.

  36. Times New Roman on May 4, 2022 at 7:55 pm

    People who mention days gone

It’s really not a big deal because it’s a opinion

  37. ARIXANDRE on May 4, 2022 at 7:55 pm

    My GOTY: Remedy’s CONTROL

  38. Dr.CaneMain on May 4, 2022 at 7:56 pm

It was a tough year with great games and i have to agree on this one. Sekiro deserves it 🥰👍

  39. Jormangundr S on May 4, 2022 at 7:58 pm

was the game you picked a sequel to tenchu? It’s very reminiscent of those games

  40. Sassy Superspreader on May 4, 2022 at 7:58 pm

Well deserved by Sekiro. Sublime game.

  41. HoneyBadger on May 4, 2022 at 7:58 pm

No Ace Combat 7? You! Solitary now!

  42. Brad Aldy on May 4, 2022 at 7:58 pm

You’re an American, your pronunciation of Sekiro is annoying, but I have only been awake for 5 mins

  43. The AfroPlaylist(Fro-Tho) on May 4, 2022 at 7:59 pm

AMAZING! *Adds to list that I’ll never realistically finish/get through all

  44. PsychevisioN Productions on May 4, 2022 at 8:02 pm

  45. Jorge Ramos on May 4, 2022 at 8:03 pm

The GOTY is NBA 2K20 don’t @ me

  46. Mihir Ranadive on May 4, 2022 at 8:04 pm

    this is my sekiro exprience:
starting out:: shit… this is unfair.. its awfull…. NO WAY
mid way: wait i’m getting it.. yeah! i can actually STAND and fight in this game instead of rolling around every time i see an enemy flinch….
    endgame/ng+: i’m a badass shinobi GTFO genichiro

  47. jinratgeist on May 4, 2022 at 8:04 pm

Never played the game, because I’ve been busy getting the Platinum for the other games I’ve been busy with through the year (RE2, DMC5, Bloodstained, CTR: Nitro-Fueled, KH3, FFVIII Remaster).

I actually asked my co-worker if he has a copy of Sekiro so I can borrow it. Too bad he doesn’t.

So this one’s gonna be a masochistic X-mas gift for myself.😁

  48. Bubba on May 4, 2022 at 8:05 pm

DMC V or Sekiro for the win. Both have intriguing stories, engaging combat, great music, and much replayability.

  49. James on May 4, 2022 at 8:05 pm

I loved Sekiro mainly because of its Japanese setting but the game is too hard for me and yes I know that’s the point of FromSoftwares games, I couldn’t get past the Chained Ogre (so I think I’ll wait for Ghost of Tsushima instead of sticking with Sekiro)

  50. Brayan Camargo 64 on May 4, 2022 at 8:05 pm

Well the team of watchmojo predicted sekiro: shadows die twice is the game of the year 🏆😮👌
