Are you saying to get a 2017? Or which years?

Another thumbs up video 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻. iMac’s are the el jefe desktop. Best buy for your $$$$. Great at video editing / photos and so forth, especially if you can find a used one for a good price. But, for whatever reason, used prices have gone up. It’s gotten to a point that it’s better to just buy a new one and not waste your time looking on eBay or any place else, IMHO. You get a year warranty unlike a used one. I’m holding out to replace mine with the new updated 2020 / 2021 iMac coming out in the near future. B&H Photo has several 2019’s for sale for less than $1900. Plus, depending on your location, no sales tax. Pay with you PayPal account and stretch payments with no interest up to 18 months…. I’ve got two iMacs, the oldest being a 2011 with an upgraded OWC SSD, and it still can cut it.

Bought a 2017 21.5" iMac two years ago, my first Mac, and am very happy with it. As you say, with Apple desktops you get a lot of computer for your money, and I personally don’t need to move the computer around such that a laptop would be needed. I considered a 27" but thought the screen was actually too big! Like, there’s a lot of real estate to move the mouse around. Any thoughts on that?

Thank you for another interesting video!!
At least here in Germany schools, universities and the like strongly support the use of Apple products. It is somewhat of an unofficial standard. I have never heard of anything else than an „iPad class“. No other tablets are used. The only serious alternative is Microsoft‘s Surface, but these are way too expensive to be bought by all the students‘ parents. So it all comes down to iPads. The next step then is to buy an iMac because all Apple devices work together perfectly. What I write down in my classes appears on my iMac at home and vice versa.
I started with an iPhone, then I got an iPad and now I am a happy owner of an iMac. For me this is the best combination I have ever had. I really helps me to work much more efficiently.
Btw, I think Steven Spielberg would have started his career with videos on YouTube. So there is still some hope….

The 2017 27” iMac is a great machine, just be careful because the prices on eBay and even from refurb retailers vary greatly, they can be a super bargain or so expensive you might as well be buying a new 2020 from the Apple Store. At the right price it is a terrific value and should be fully supported with new OS upgrades for at least 4 more years and probably longer.

I just set up a new workstation in my home and space is a premium there so I went with a used/refurb 2019 21.5” from a well-regarded retailer. I hate cutting the adhesive around the glass cover and regluing to do my own upgrades on these things so I got it with the full monty of 32gb of RAM and a 2tb SSD for about $1500 (before tax). But you can’t beat the larger screen of the 27” for video or photo work, it’s worth the premium price for those uses. The 4K screen of the 21.5” is just as nice on a square-inch vs square-inch basis, though; the 27” screen is 5K because it’s physically larger so has more total pixels but the quality of the two screens is otherwise essentially identical.
