I bought a 36" wide Subzero 550 in 2005, it was new, but actually built in 2000. After both the freezer and fridge compressors failed last year, Subzero paid for both compressors and most of the labor to repair and replace them. Everyone has different opinions about everything, but I think Subzero is an incredible company, especially after it paid to fix a 20 year old unit. Plus I built a ‘stainless steel’ restaurant style kitchen in my home, and the Subzero with stainless panels installed looks stunning, no other unit comes close to match the beauty or reliability and customer service of a Subzero.

  5. TheBooban on February 2, 2021 at 9:18 pm

If its so good, it should give a guarantee for 15 years.

We’ve had two Sub-Zeros, one side by side and one with freezer drawers. Getting ready to build and putting in a 72”. We love Sub-Zero and they are totally worth the money!

We spent nearly $35,000 on Wolf and Sub-Zero appliances (not from this authorized dealership tho). First, the built-in coffee maker never got to a hot temperature. Called customer service numerous times within the first month of being installed and they sent out someone to work on it but they never could get it any hotter so we don’t use it since it makes luke warm coffee. Sub-zero/Wolf gave us an extended warrenty on our refrigerator because of the issue for the coffee maker??? Second, built in double oven has never been at the precise temp so we have always had to guess and bake longer and one of the lights burned out within the first 5 months of use. Third, the gas cooktop knobs do not stay in position. They will slightly turn/float so you can’t get at a precise temperature. For example, if you want it on med heat and place the knobs to the middle it will eventually float to simmer. This happens to two of the knobs and started since first purchased. And last, refrigerator alarm kept sounding so I called customer service and the rep was rude and augmentative. That was the last straw and therefor this review. If you think these are top of the line appliances without issues you will be disappointed. I would skip buying because they are overpriced and definently not worth it!!

We had a built-in Sub-zero and the equivalent GE Monogram model. The GE is just as good for half the price.

  9. Shawn B. Thomas on February 2, 2021 at 9:24 pm

Very helpful thank you. Subzero all the way!!🌈

My mom has subzero fridge since i wasnt born yet in 1998, still works till now

  11. jacki solon on February 2, 2021 at 9:25 pm

    Worth every penny.

  12. Michael on February 2, 2021 at 9:25 pm

We would not own anything else. And yes, foods really stay fresher longer….no doubt about it.

  13. Allen Ruschman on February 2, 2021 at 9:26 pm

My model 561 was installed in 1988, and is still ridiculously awesome.

  14. Levi Must on February 2, 2021 at 9:27 pm

Good thing Sub Zeros are not designed for the average family because the average family doesn’t cook real food or bother with leftovers.

  15. Jim Newton on February 2, 2021 at 9:29 pm

Can you say something about Gaggenau vs sub zero?

  16. N Lee on February 2, 2021 at 9:35 pm

it’s worth it! keeps your food fresh for so long. no food is wasted. I told my friends, "you haven’t had a fridge until you have a sub zero"

  17. Suzy Murr on February 2, 2021 at 9:35 pm

They are not worth it. We had all sort of problems with it. And it has been going on with many people we know. Also the cost to fix it is extremely high.

  18. pilotbird on February 2, 2021 at 9:35 pm

definitely worth the money. I just purchased a high end home with a built in unit. It cools consistently with it’s vacuum system and insulation. This unit has the quality of those made 40 years ago. Prior to now the average refridgerator lasts 5-7 years if lucky. In this case buy cheap get cheap.

  19. ATTJ76XXVIII on February 2, 2021 at 9:38 pm

    Wow! A slightly colder fridge!

  20. Bro. Tolliver on February 2, 2021 at 9:39 pm

This is the type of pitch my wife would buy in to.

  21. Nobody on February 2, 2021 at 9:40 pm

What a load of B.S. First of all, it’s not an "investment". An investment grows in value; an old subzero fridge doesn’t. Secondly, my subzero fridge is absolutely NOT better at preserving food, compared to my other fridge, a cheap Whirlpool. As to resale value, an old subzero fridge is time bomb. The buyer can be assured of one thing: ridiculously expensive repair bills.

  22. veronicanailpolish on February 2, 2021 at 9:42 pm

We have a sub zero. 29 years old. We keep up with the maintenance of cleaning every year. Yes they are worth it!

  23. DASHYDASH EYESPOKE on February 2, 2021 at 9:44 pm

Honestly…Between this Sub Zero and Gaggenau who makes the best fridges…??? I had my eyes on Gaggenau for a while and thought it the best,to be honest,I had never heard of Sub-Zero before watching this video and I’m sold on it.

  24. Carolinam Mayoral on February 2, 2021 at 9:46 pm

We bought a sub-zero from Mountain High Appliance. A brand new built in 42" Sub-zero. Only 32 days old, dispensing water by itself. It turns on by itself and continues to dispense water non-stop. Lucky, we were at home to stop it, otherwise our home will be flooded. See it by yourself. Type in the search:
Sub-zero 42 refrigerator dispensing water by itself – Home flooding hazard

designed for 20 years but only 2 years guaranty? …

  26. Michael Hidalgo on February 2, 2021 at 9:50 pm

How does it compare to a Viking built in?

  27. D.A. J. on February 2, 2021 at 9:52 pm

So I’ve been seeing a lot of high end refrigerators with a wine cellar installed next to it. My question is, aren’t vibrations bad for wine, wouldn’t the refrigerator next to the cellar be bad for the wine due to the vibrations?

Ill just wait for scorpion to come out with his version.

  32. John Stone on February 2, 2021 at 9:57 pm

He’s right about Sub-Zero increasing the value of a home. If you see that name under a listing on Zillow, you know the kitchen was renovated using the best materials

  33. djperryboy on February 2, 2021 at 9:59 pm

Tell them the truth mate. SubZero is a BRAND and it’s price is 3 times higher than many other fridges. Is it worth it? You will know it within 20 years..

Try Fhiaba not even to canpare

  37. James Doolittle on February 2, 2021 at 10:08 pm

I would not have any other refrigeration system. The same goes for Wolf cooking appliances. Miele for dishwashing. If you are going to live in the house 5, 10 or more years, these are the ones to invest in. Naturally, these are not intended for starter homes.

  38. Simon Assouline on February 2, 2021 at 10:09 pm

Had a Sub Zero built in refrigerator freezer combo for 25 years, never had 1 problem with! Sold the house 11 years ago to the new buyer So! Still working flawlessly, 36 years old! Sub Zero is the Bugatti of Refrigerators and Freezers, everything else is Junk!
