  3. Vadim Katz on October 12, 2020 at 3:45 pm

20.000 usd system with 2500 usd speakers…. Smh. Even the amp is more expensive than the speakers.

  4. David Perry on October 12, 2020 at 3:45 pm

For 20,000 dollars I would upgrade my existing setup with a pair of Paradigm Persona 5f speakers a very huge upgrade from my Bose 601 series I, a Denon Dl 304 cartridge for my Pioneer PL-L800 turntable to breathe new live into it since the existing cartridges is permanently damaged, Mogami 3104 speaker cables, a Pioneer P-D70 CD player, and some blue gene cable interconnects. Then show it off on YouTube of me doing a Dubstep test and name it “Vintage Pioneer Gear with Paradigm Persona [Dubstep Test]”. I would play Boom by Excision, Blue by Gemini, When I look at you by Emalkay, and Blue by Gemini.

Well done setup and well done video!

  6. Alan Jenkinson on October 12, 2020 at 3:47 pm

Did you listen to PMC speakers as well as Focale? I listened to Focale when they merged with Naim. I must say I didn’t think much of them. Pretty mind you

  7. Adam Riggs on October 12, 2020 at 3:47 pm

You need a Audioquest Niagra 3000 power conditioner !!!! Dont plug that stuff straight into an outlet!

  8. KRS HURRICANE on October 12, 2020 at 3:48 pm

    😍😍😍

  9. Armando Fraga on October 12, 2020 at 3:50 pm

Nice setup! Where have you bought your bass traps?

  10. robb ryan on October 12, 2020 at 3:52 pm

I’m now finding myself watching videos about speakers and components more than I’m listening to music on my system. I think this is how it starts. 😧

  11. grant robinson on October 12, 2020 at 3:52 pm

    Needs vinyl

  12. kid 1960 on October 12, 2020 at 3:54 pm

Those Focal towers are beautiful. I’ve heard several models of the Utopia line at various audio shows, and those have always sounded great. I also love the look of Macintosh amplifiers, but I don’t think they would be a good match in my setup.

    Anyway, lovely system.

  13. the machinist on October 12, 2020 at 3:54 pm

All the great Canadian audio manufacturers, P.S.B., Bryston etc, and you went with American and French?

  14. Singapore 新加坡Thomas Giam 嚴平凡 on October 12, 2020 at 3:54 pm

I love to have one too!

  15. Thomas Fitzhugh on October 12, 2020 at 3:57 pm

Nice set up.👍🏼 A dedicated sound room is also what I want. I’m looking @ either the Aria 926s or B&W 702s with either a Parasound integrated or separates. Of course that could all change by the time I get there! Lol

  16. roguemodel on October 12, 2020 at 3:57 pm

Focal’s are a fantastic speaker. I thought you just did car detailing, this video is awesome.

  17. Mycal Dane on October 12, 2020 at 3:57 pm

Did you happen to shoot an IR after the setup? I’m curious as to why you placed a diffuser behind the speakers rather than behind your listening chair. That diffuser is diffusing reflected sound from the back wall. You should’ve put a Bass trap behind the set up. Considering the speakers are a bit close to the wall. I also couldn’t tell if your listening position was placed within the equilateral of the speakers. I’m sure this sound beautiful. I just have a passion for how acoustics interact within a given setup. Cheers!

great video I have a question I just bought these speakers brand new and I noticed when I was trying to plug in my speaker cables that I have banana plugs on to buy can’t plug it into the back of the speaker terminals because there are these tiny little red and black caps that’s it right at the top of the terminal blocking me from plugging in my cables going straight in downwards I don’t know how to remove it with many little things they just don’t come out!! did you remove them or did you plug in your speaker wires at the bottom of the post where there’s a little circle hole and slide it in that way then just twist the cap on top if you can understand what I’m saying? Thx plz help great video by the way. I know there’s supposed to come out but they just are not

  19. Newton R on October 12, 2020 at 3:59 pm

It’s a beautiful setup but I’m curious to know why you used it pretty cheap doc with everything else being so expensive why didn’t you feel the need to invest in a pretty expensive dock so you believe they don’t really have better sound quality? And they’re just a waste of money

  20. John Smith on October 12, 2020 at 3:59 pm

Nice set up but that green wall is just hideous.

  21. Ric Ras on October 12, 2020 at 4:00 pm

Very clear explanation. Enjoy your music!

  22. poetryonplastic on October 12, 2020 at 4:01 pm

Beautiful stereo. I run mac gear myself and I have also heard those exact Focal Arias once at a hifi store in nyc. They have an incredibly open sound, I really enjoyed them.

  23. Jack Tyler on October 12, 2020 at 4:02 pm

Pan: I payed loads of money to listen to music
Me: hehe game make subwoofer go brrrr

  24. samuel ilozumba on October 12, 2020 at 4:04 pm

Why do I need a network streamer if I can just stream on my phone and connect my phone to the Hi-Fi via Bluetooth?

  25. Angel Sacristia on October 12, 2020 at 4:04 pm

    I have ear pods

  26. Chuck U. Farley on October 12, 2020 at 4:05 pm

Cool setup, but all that cash and dangly cables?

  27. WMalven on October 12, 2020 at 4:05 pm

Nice system, but I always find these "foo-foo" dust presentations amusing. The stand will have no effect on what comes out of your speakers. As for the power cables, You spend high dollars to purchase a McIntosh receiver, because they are considered to be one of the best manufacturers of high quality equipment. If power cables mattered that much, don’t you think McIntosh would build that quality into the power cable that comes with the unit? After all, think about the wiring in the walls to which you are connecting. No pure, crystal aligned, cryogenically treated copper there, just cheap mass produced wire.

I know they have started selling expensive cables, both power and interconnects, but that move has come so late in the era of custom cabling that I believe it to be more of a case of pandering to the demands of their customers, than due to any actual need.

AS I said, nice system. I’m certain it will meet or exceed all of your expectations. I’ve been rocking my Mac MC-2002 (300 WPC into 4 ohms, which the B&Ws are) and a set if B&W Matrix 3 series 2s (later evolved into the 803) since the late 80s (using a NAD M51 DAC these days to feed it with Hi-Res needle drops from my hard drive). I figure to replace it with the current equivalents (speakers and amp) would run about $12-15,000.

I have never had any desire to change the primary components. Once you go to that level of quality, the compulsion to forever be upgrading completely disappears (at least for me). These days, it’s just sit back and enjoy.

  28. SquidkidMega on October 12, 2020 at 4:06 pm

is it possible to combine the hi-fi set up with the home theatre set up so you don’t need two separate dedicated areas, one for movies and one for music?

  29. Nikephoros II Phokas on October 12, 2020 at 4:06 pm

This guy’s voice is super Canadian.

  30. MDPstudios on October 12, 2020 at 4:08 pm

why do you need fancy expensive power cables when the wiring to your house and inside your walls is just basic crappy wire

  31. Paul Davies on October 12, 2020 at 4:10 pm

I think they saw you coming

  32. Daniel Pierce on October 12, 2020 at 4:10 pm

The plugs are a step in the right direction but have you considered getting a power conditioner? It can help a lot…

  33. KindWizzard on October 12, 2020 at 4:11 pm

Why just CXN, but not 851N?

  34. Richard De Gannes on October 12, 2020 at 4:11 pm

Hello, Could you confirm if Focal still produces these Focal Aria 948 3-way floorstanding loudspeakers? I was told that they are a discontinued product. Thanks

  35. James Barrick on October 12, 2020 at 4:12 pm

Wow great system. But you shattered a long standing rule of audiophiles in which at least half of your budget should be speakers since that is the only component that actually creates the music and there is a huge disparity between cheap and expensive speakers.

  36. L D on October 12, 2020 at 4:15 pm

You are I appear to have the same interests: clean cars and great sounding audio. Life is good.

  37. Steve Berry on October 12, 2020 at 4:18 pm

Very nice setup. I too am looking at Focal. I see you now have Kanta No.2’s – that’s the one I am looking at. My wallet hurts.

  38. Lee Scoggins on October 12, 2020 at 4:21 pm

Nice system Pan. I work for The Absolute Sound and hifi+.

  39. Hariharan Visvanathan on October 12, 2020 at 4:23 pm

can you please do a video with your upgraded audio setup.would be nice to see it

  40. Robert Troxell on October 12, 2020 at 4:26 pm

I have heard that power cables make a difference in sound, but wouldn’t the makers of top quality equipment provide the best power cables for them? What good is speaking thousands of dollars — or selling such equipment — if the cables that come with them hamper the sound? Wouldn’t the engineers who spent so much effort designing the equipment also specify the best power cables to run them?

Try Nordost Odin 2 power cord.
