I Bought/Tested Over 65 iPhone 12 Cases – Which Were Best?
We spent over $1300 dollars on iPhone 12 cases in the last month. Most of them were pretty bad. Some were great. Which ones were best?
With the up-designed iPhone 12, we had to adjust our scoring system. We’ve put more emphasis on using the iPhone 12 and little less on durability given that the iPhone 12 is the toughest iPhone to date.

I do have to point out the cases that were proverbial residents on my Top 10 lists for years and after the iPhone 12, have fallen out of the top 10.
The first are the Grip cases from Speck. They’ve dropped down to #19. They’ve been updated for the iPhone 12 and instead of having grips on the cases being made from the grippy and semi-soft TPU material that cradles your iPhone, it’s now just extensions of the PC back.
Which means this case now slides around almost like an air hockey puck and the ribs on the case are hard which makes the case feel way too abrasive.
The second case that seems to make the Top 10 all the time is the Spigen Tough Armor. It’s #11 so it barely make the cut.
The Tough Armor is still a great case. Handles decently, is tough BUT the Apple Silicone case beats it out because you can use the Magsafe features on the iPhone 12.
Other notable cases that didn’t make the Top 10 cut include the Magbak due to build quality issues, the Raptic Lux because dropping a case with a metal bumper is terrible, and the Tech 21 Evo Check because it comes off like an old sock.
Do I sound annoyed? It’s because I am because dropping $100’s of dollars on cases that are terrible, is a really hard thing to do. Stuff like this Mellow case that cost more than my #1 case and doesn’t fit my iPhone properly, or having to pay shipping and custom fees to bring over the Incipio case that handles like a wet bar of soap.

Does the casetify have work with magsafe
I appreciate your insight into what to look for… I tried a Spigen, and it is just too slippery every where. My hands are drying out with the winter and Covid care… but I would also like a case that has “gription” on the back so I can use a magnetic mount (spigen cd player slot mount) in the car.
The best overall for how it “feels” (ignoring drop protection since I baby my phone in a leather holster) is the “ORNARTO Shockproof Designed for iPhone 12 Mini”. It has great grippy sides, with the bevel on the top and bottom for swiping.
I am considering eGrips for the back panel since I have not seen anything that fits my usage and style (I do not want to change who I am just because I have the new 12 mini).

My Mous case broke the back glass of my iPhone 10x… not sure how it got rated as the best case lol. I tend to find the $10 bulky cases provide the most protection from personal experience of some serious throws and falls. Love the effort this guy puts into reviewing cases though and that dog gets a video like from me haha

Learning a LOT from your videos, thank you for the effort. One question….Most cases protect from 10 foot falls if it hits the corner. My fear is a fall that lands face down. It seems like cases now have a minimal lip on the front. I would like to see a higher lip at top and bottom of phone to give face down impact and it can be lowered somewhat down the sides to allow easier reach across phone. Any ideas/thoughts where I can find a case that fits my concerns???
Mous Limitless 3.0..? Nah is old.. the Limitless 4.0 is better

DO NOT GET A WHITE MOUS CASE OR FLOLAB Screen protector. I bought both and the case got dirty immediately (if I didn’t get white it may be a great case.) Also dont buy the mous case he recommends. It’s $25 more expensive than the case without magnets and you don’t need that useless shit. Flolab’s screen protector broke right away and the application method was hard as fuck.

PLEASE do a video on the best waterproof cases for the iPhone 12 pro max. I always watch these hoping to see more cases than just little sleeves as I’m a very clumsy person and need my expensive phone quite literally in a sealed box😂

I liked the Apple Silicone case, but seems little too fragile. The edges aren’t that great and for some reason get chips in them… I didn’t have that issue with previous apple phones with silicone case.

As always, top-notch reviews. I have always been a fan of Catalyst cases. Others have mentioned that the new Catalyst Influence clear case seems to fade and gets dingy within a week or so. Have you noticed/experienced the same thing? Thanks.
They actually make a PopSocket wireless charger that works with the otter pop cases there is a hole in the middle.

I think the spigen though armor should be much higher on your list it’s easily my #1 case. Used it for years and my phone has survived constant drops from varying heights to varying surfaces. Once I left it on top of my car and at pretty good speed it went flying off and the case got scratched but that was it. In my opinion armor like that trumps not being able to use the MagSafe. They do have a mag safe armor version out now so maybe check that out. The point of a case is protection and that should be the #1 factor. Because I would rather have a case that saves me from buying a 1000 dollar phone.

I can honestly say I do like the Speck products, Speck has always been my go to product for my ipad/iphone. Recently purchased the Speck Presidio cover for my 12pro max only had the phone for 4 days and dropped it 6 times already! The case is very slippery, plus is doesn’t help if you’re clumsy like myself. This is the first time I felt that buying this particular case was a bust! On the search for a new one. Thanks for the info, great video! I subscribed cause Monty is adorable with his tie.
Till this day is mous the best phone case? I don’t have apple care on my phone and I’m looking for a case that has the best protection with out the bulk and not have to worry about braking my phone what do you suggest?
