So happy I found this video! It really worked! My left stove panel would not engage at all. So I flipped up the touch display ribbons for the stove portion did the alcohol on the ribbons, the alcohol on the business card to the input control portion, and followed it with the pink erasure foe good measure. Violá!! So happy we didn’t have to call a repair guy!!
Are the ribbon contacts supposed to look black or golden? Mine had the same issue right after i heard a loud thunder. The 3 and start buttons no longer works. I wanted to test the ribbons pinout with an ohmmeter but can’t find reference drawings for it. The goal is to determine if the touch membrane or the main pcb is the culprit.
We had a couple of the burner buttons that weren’t functioning anymore so we initially tried an eraser method found on another site. It killed everything. We then tried cleaning the contacts on the ribbon with rubbing alcohol and also trimmed a business card to fit into the connector slots, applied some rubbing alcohol to the card and inserted into the slots. Reconnected the ribbons and everything came back to life.
Thanks very much. We will try this. Bought a used range "in excellent used condition" and the oven doesn’t work. Perhaps it is a diff problem though. Touch pad says oven has gone up to 365F (no further) but temp feels like 150-200F.

Is it ok to use a can of air to clean out the contacts?
1000% saved my stove. It took me about 5 minutes. I used alcohol wipes and cleaned it with that and all my buttons worked.
I rubbed the connections clean off with the alcohol and the qtips now none of my buttons work…..

I have one that was repaired.
The repair guy didn’t want to install the new membrane LG sent. Now I see why they sent it. He said it wasn’t needed, but the old one is peeling of on flakes. That is why.
What I can’t figure out is it looks life the new one is made into the shell of the top cover.
It looks like they made it to go over the top of the old face but that can’t be right.

I lost power a few hours and after it came back the button CLOCK and START would not work anymore. That meant I could only use the cooktop, the oven was useless (no START button working) and the clock was showing the wrong time, but numbers were still showing. I did exactly what is explained in this video with the alcool and Qtips (no need to use the eraser) and plugged back the appliance and IT WORKS!!! thank you +++
Is there a way to clean the connections at the other ends of the ribbons?
Do you have a video how to fix the LG oven if its stuck to open. The burner is on high all the time
Bwahaha! This is a joke. He’s literally showing you everything that is not working (and possibly effing up his oven), then randomly at the end of the video , audibly tells you he then took an eraser and rubbed those connections again, and this solved everything. Then why not show us THAT video. Thanks for the effin pointless video.
If you don’t have the ribbons on your stove, which ours did not, when you press a button just hold it down fir a couple seconds till it beeps. We have to do that with our start button on our amana range, but works every time now and no repair!
Thanks Dad! You saved me a couple hundred bucks by not having to buy a new control board.
