Dungeons & Dragons: Dark Alliance Review

Dungeons & Dragons: Dark Alliance Review

Dungeons & Dragons: Dark Alliance reviewed on Xbox and PC by Travis Northup. Also available on PlayStation.

I badly wanted Dungeons & Dragons: Dark Alliance to be an awesome co-op version of the pencil-and-paper tabletop RPGs I’ve loved for decades, but it just isn’t. It’s a bland, boring trek through repetitive encounters that’s filled with bugs and annoying design choices, and though it allows you to play alone you absolutely should not do that because it’s an imbalanced nightmare. I can praise its faithful look and feel, which captures much of what makes Forgotten Realms a great setting, but there’s very little else to recommend about this unpolished mess of a hack-and-slash RPG.

4 is harsh cmon, for the graphics and world design alone it deserves at least a 6, gamers have become so entitled these days.

  11. JohnMalock on May 2, 2022 at 7:03 pm

Fun fact, you can literally just walk past all the enemies and get to the final boss

  12. Supergirl Video Clips on May 2, 2022 at 7:04 pm

there should have been option to put bots in single player campaign to fight alongside you. That would have saved the game.

  13. Bret .Maverick on May 2, 2022 at 7:04 pm

Didn’t know you guys could give a bad review.

  18. Colin Weston on May 2, 2022 at 7:10 pm

Asked a guy at gamestop about this game and he just started shaking his head no and had a seizure

  19. Thouzer47.5 on May 2, 2022 at 7:10 pm

Whatever happened to Baldurs Gate Dark Alliance? That game was awesome.

  20. The Will of 3 on May 2, 2022 at 7:12 pm

Here is the flaw with what you’re saying. Not everyone you know is going to want to buy this game and create a party with you so you have to make it playable by yourself. Otherwise you wouldn’t be able to play it all and that isn’t going to work. Seems like you’re doing more bitching than anything else. Also instead of bitching what’s the solution and fix it.

  21. Dirk Greyling on May 2, 2022 at 7:12 pm

any RPG is mind numbing repetitive! so ya

  22. Loa Eterna on May 2, 2022 at 7:13 pm

  24. Tadhg Brady on May 2, 2022 at 7:19 pm

  25. Justin Case on May 2, 2022 at 7:20 pm

Lmao bro why do they crap on every game

  26. Stephon Carroll on May 2, 2022 at 7:20 pm

The game is worth 14.00$ now but it was 40$ when it came out. That lets u kno.

  27. SaintSantiXIV on May 2, 2022 at 7:20 pm

You KNOW it’s bad when IGN gives it a 4

  28. Jesse A on May 2, 2022 at 7:20 pm

Sometimes, IGN has some great game reviews with well written lines. This is one of those times. This game deserves every criticism it had. It’s an insult to D&D, it’s fans, Baldur’s Gate, and the original Dark Alliance which was leagues better in comparison.

  29. Gurimujouz on May 2, 2022 at 7:21 pm

Another amateur review from IGN. How about watching your own videos before uploading and adjusting the audio. Washed out microphone, poor editing.

  30. EpicGwar on May 2, 2022 at 7:27 pm

It’s free on gamepass I’ll check it out on there

  31. JohnMalock on May 2, 2022 at 7:28 pm

My friends told me to get this game off gamepass so it was free, it’s still a ripoff

  32. Manic Math on May 2, 2022 at 7:29 pm

  33. WarrioromarZ Thefirst on May 2, 2022 at 7:29 pm

  34. Meher Chaithanya 2.0 on May 2, 2022 at 7:29 pm

You know it’s bad when even ign didn’t try to make you buy this garbage.

  35. Ak47 on May 2, 2022 at 7:31 pm

    looks like marvels avengers 2

  36. Carbodude on May 2, 2022 at 7:32 pm

Better to play Baldur’s Gate 3

  37. Sir Clu-Fix on May 2, 2022 at 7:33 pm

It feels as if IGN just repeats themselves about every game. ‘The game has a lot of bugs.’, ‘The game is really repetitive.’, ‘When you play this first 10 minutes of the game, you’ve basically played it off’. This game is fairly knew. Instead of giving it a review after 5 days if it launching, you should wait till some content comes out and actually give a review. If IGN wants to bash on a game, like they’ve done for the past 4 years, maybe they should make their own game. Because this is review is…what did he say, ah yes, blane and annoying.

  38. Jon Madden on May 2, 2022 at 7:33 pm

This looks like a nice budget game. Would be nice if it were $5 or free on steam for a month.

  39. Thomas Cole on May 2, 2022 at 7:34 pm

Yeas it was a wast of my money

  40. Lord Frank on May 2, 2022 at 7:34 pm

Me over here playing Bauldersgate 3 with my friends laughing at how bad this game is in terms of D&D

  41. Jon-Luke on May 2, 2022 at 7:34 pm

    Tldr don’t bother

  42. Nostromo Alien2 on May 2, 2022 at 7:35 pm

Question: does this game play similar to baldurs gate dark alliance?

Is this only getting low reviews due to repetitive nature?
If it came out 15 years ago would it be heralded as a classic like BGDA?

  43. Kitcho85 on May 2, 2022 at 7:37 pm

Love the fact drizzt voice is the same voice actor of alucard from hellsing

  44. JL on May 2, 2022 at 7:38 pm

Needs roleplaying, can’t have a ttRPG without the RPG

  45. monkeyskatan on May 2, 2022 at 7:38 pm

Damn was gonna give this a go.. maybe I’ll get back into Neverwinter instead…

  46. Shane on May 2, 2022 at 7:39 pm

Listening to your voice for this review is as monotonous as playing this game.

  47. Ye Gamers Guild Podcast on May 2, 2022 at 7:41 pm

So this is basically 90% of all my games

  48. Desther on May 2, 2022 at 7:43 pm

Clearly, one would be much better served playing the enhanced edition of my game, Neverwinter Nights.
