CES 2020: A Look at the GE Kitchen Hub 2

We were at CES 2020 this week to check out what’s new in food and cooking tech.

The GE Kitchen Hub has always been interesting to us, but with the reveal of the second generation Kitchen Hub, this GE kitchen control platform seems to have become a lot more useful.

I have the 1st Gen Kitchen Hub, since this is now a microwave will it also have a vent?

  2. Crystal on July 21, 2021 at 8:58 pm

I have concerns. I have seen Café stoves with small screens that malfunction due to the heat from the range itself.. Now, I can’t imagine the expensive loss of a full size screen above a stove where the heat directly contacts, let alone with something that produces lots of steam. I want to complete my collection but they are putting the screens on places that can have easy malfunctions.

    Wow!!

  4. N Boykin on July 21, 2021 at 9:01 pm

When will this be available for purchase?

  5. Travis Johnson on July 21, 2021 at 9:02 pm

I have the original version and really like it. I prefer the original with a fully capable vent fan instead of the microwave. Not sure what kind of vent is in the new one, but it has to be much lower quality as the fan and motor filled up most of the interior on the original hub. I can put a microwave lots of places in the kitchen, but a high quality vent fan is indispensable.

I can’t fit this microwave over my range since my range is 48" and comes with a 54" hood. Is the undermount camera that is supposed to see what you have in the pots/pans on your range detachable or can be replaced with a wi-fi camera so that I can put the camera in the center of my 54" hood? The guy showed a camera that looked detachable in the video, so maybe I can use it as the ‘range’ camera? I thought he said there were 3 cameras. Maybe one for video chat, one pointing down at the food (movable?) and one pointing into the microwave itself?

Warning…GE Customer Service is horrible. If you have a defective appliance that is covered under warranty, they don’t honor it

  13. Shawn M. Kouri on July 21, 2021 at 9:14 pm

  21. J. Romeo Aldana on July 21, 2021 at 9:27 pm

I made the mistake of purchasing a Samsung Camera with an Android OS. In theory it’s a great concept to have an SLR with android OS but then it stopped getting updates. My guess is this will happen on these Microwaves too. In theory it’s cool but no one wants replace microwaves every 3 years or so.

  22. Fabian La Maestra on July 21, 2021 at 9:30 pm

    MSRP?

  23. RoseCityRider on July 21, 2021 at 9:32 pm

Still waiting on this… where is it??

  24. phil2177 on July 21, 2021 at 9:34 pm

One point never mention, how do you see inside and use the microwave oven?

  25. V P on July 21, 2021 at 9:34 pm

GE microwaves have poor quality. I had a 700 dollar over the range microwave and that microwave has gone bad in less than 2 years. Poorly Engineered product. You have to take the microwave out of the brackets to just replace any part even a tiny fuse. I had many service calls but fuse keep blowing again and again. I will never buy GE again. Cost me more in service than the actual cost of Microwave. Very poor customer service. I sent a note to GE appliances team with feedback and nobody even bother to respond. I am replacing every GE product in my house. Very disappointed with the customer service and over all design of the product. I can’t imagine they are marketing this product when they can’t fix the ongoing issues on their products. GE Engineers better do complete validation of these parts and resolve issues before launching any product in the market.

Kids in 2021: “Yea my mom took my phone too. I’m calling you from her ‘Kitchen Hub’ while she’s at work…” lol 😂

  27. Adam Guymon on July 21, 2021 at 9:40 pm

Nice microwave but a feature that would have been even better would have to put a camera system inside that would capture a full surround view of the items inside and you could display it on the screen on the outside of the microwave and/or smartphone?

  28. Mary Thompson on July 21, 2021 at 9:41 pm

I would love to have this in my kitchen to search and view recipes…but I would like it on a upgraded microwave.

  29. Kogasa Tatara™ on July 21, 2021 at 9:41 pm

"Mom said it’s my turn to play with the microwave!"

  30. Monique King on July 21, 2021 at 9:41 pm

You guys did a great job of that technology but the one thing on the ingredients part you should also include vegan people or people that’s allergic to different type of things like dairy ham cranberries or different fruits or vegetables so they can find some easier recipes for them you got to also think outside the box but overall that is a terrific thing to have add on a little bit more and everybody will be happy oh yeah I hope you guys have a tap to speak Google search

  31. brianw2346 on July 21, 2021 at 9:45 pm

  32. Kristopher Campbell on July 21, 2021 at 9:46 pm
