Just before the middle of this year (2020), I bought the 55" model of this TV for my disabled wife. We had a 39" TV in the bedroom and she was having trouble seeing some of the details and making out words on the screen. When I measured the space we had, the 55" was the largest we could fit along the wall opposite the bed, where the previous TV had been, so that’s what I went with. Although she was not bedridden, my wife did not get around THAT well. She had a number of medical issues and was frequently in pain, so TV was a great distraction for her. She could lose herself in her shows and forget her medical issues for a while. I would set up pillows for her to use like a recliner, as she watched TV from her side of the bed. We called it her nest. She spent almost all her time in bed, when not going to doctor appointments, and watching TV was her favorite activity by FAR.

This TV is everything David here says it is and more. My soulmate and the love of my life passed away, suddenly and unexpectedly, on the 21st of September, 2020, just over three weeks after her 38th birthday and a week after our 18th wedding anniversary. A couple weeks before she died, she was telling me how much she liked her new TV. She actually told me it was "perfect" and told me I was her hero. Her telling me that made me cry, as I knew how much she watched it and how important it was to her quality of life. Thank you TCL, for making my wife’s last days on this Earth happier and more easy to endure.

Havenโ€™t a tv better than my 2016 Sony 930e; built like a tank

  7. THATMOFODIRT on December 31, 2020 at 1:57 am

The best tv is the one you already have. Stop buying things bc itโ€™s new.

  8. Anthony Chen on December 31, 2020 at 1:58 am

Why does this video looks like it was shot on a phone?

  9. B Vedant on December 31, 2020 at 2:00 am

If only this TV was available at Costco. Their free warranties / returns are crazy good

  10. Ryan Anthony on December 31, 2020 at 2:02 am

Couldnโ€™t release this video before Black Friday, could ya?

  11. FromMyMind on December 31, 2020 at 2:03 am

DO NOT touch TCL. My screen failed after 2.5 years and they can’t stand by their product enough to offer a suggestive fix.

  12. XPERIAnce on December 31, 2020 at 2:04 am

    Who’s still rockin 1080p since 2014?

  15. Kringle on December 31, 2020 at 2:05 am

I just got a 49โ€ (43.5โ€ actual screen width) LG Nanocell 85 at Best Buy for $499.99 just a few days ago in store.
4k @120Hz. Online, it still show $599.99, but in the store i went to, it was $100 off so I guess it just hasnโ€™t been updated online. Thankfully, Best Buy price matches. Canโ€™t wait for it to come in!

I cannot sync my phone to the TV to make it a remote.
I downloaded the program & input the IP address exactly how it reads from the TV & it doesn’t sync.

  18. Mikel Tan on December 31, 2020 at 2:08 am

I’m not a TV snob anymore (I thought I needed a samsung or LG which I used to have). I realized I just need something sharp enough to stream. I have 3 TCL’s in the house. I love them all.

  19. Don Bohn on December 31, 2020 at 2:09 am

How much is it? I canโ€™t be the only one wondering

Cnet, give this man a better microphone.

  25. Abdul Muhaymin on December 31, 2020 at 2:21 am

Can you do a list of TV’s with HDMI 2.1 please

  26. Steve Smith on December 31, 2020 at 2:21 am

I wouldn’t buy a TCL or Hisense to save my soul!!! You guys at Cnet never even reviewed the Sony 950H. What a shame because its an awesome tv.

  27. angel2901 on December 31, 2020 at 2:22 am

And how much does it cost?

  28. huderry on December 31, 2020 at 2:22 am

If you are playing on console there is no point in worrying about hdmi 2.1 when barely any games will be able to run that this generation

  29. Mizanur Bhuiyan on December 31, 2020 at 2:22 am

Such TV must get high selling but the narration should be more marketable.

  30. Chris Gallego on December 31, 2020 at 2:23 am

Good review but please improve the sound

  31. MacS7n on December 31, 2020 at 2:24 am

I’m disliking this video because you didn’t even care about giving us details about the tv. Which model? Screen size etc… At least write them in the description.

  32. Swapnil Chopade on December 31, 2020 at 2:24 am

TVs are no like mobiles you change every 2 years. For me the Best TV for 2020 is LG BX.

  33. Blender Study on December 31, 2020 at 2:25 am

Bought about 5 LCD/LED TVs so far. I only buy the cheapest ones available, and 3 of them died. Two of them had the faulty backlight issue, and couldn’t use them anymore unless I replace the backlight LEDs that cost as much as a new TV. In the future, I’ll buy Samsung or LG, because I heard they make the best TVs.

  34. Evil Genius on December 31, 2020 at 2:26 am

My order for this TV is on day 21 of โ€œBackorderโ€ status. Canโ€™t wait to get it!

  35. Surge P on December 31, 2020 at 2:27 am

Didn’t hear a word he said. Too distracted by the crappy audio.

  36. Ji on December 31, 2020 at 2:29 am

    Rocking a 720p plasma since 2012

  37. greysymphonyearth on December 31, 2020 at 2:30 am

Nice TV but I’d take a hisense H9G over this. This one has black crush issues and I prefer Google TV over Roku.

  38. murcielago Batman on December 31, 2020 at 2:31 am

Are onn tv decent? There the Walmart brand

  39. Brandon K on December 31, 2020 at 2:32 am

Watched this twice because I thought I overlooked him saying the price. I was wrong the man never tells the price of this "affordable, unbeatable value"

  40. Luke Watson on December 31, 2020 at 2:33 am

You know we live in the 21st century when your TV has built in ads.

  44. hotrods1970s on December 31, 2020 at 2:36 am

Hey Siri Siri of any brand of TV OK it has built-in voice control remote and you box has Roku Built-in and I Think the TV is a series 3 And to add to her just wrote I got the TV for Christmas this year 2020 havenโ€™t put it up yet

  45. Matt Lemmon on December 31, 2020 at 2:38 am

Cnet, take 10 minutes of your time and watch Linus Tech Tips so that you can see how to create a proper product review. This video is nearly as bad as Dennis’ driving.

  46. Derrick McFall on December 31, 2020 at 2:40 am

I have two roku tvs. A 6 and a 5 series. The interface is just too slow. It takes like 5 seconds to change inputs and there’s no button to just switch inputs you have to press the home button and wait for everything to load before you can switch. It kinda sucks.

  47. REIGN on December 31, 2020 at 2:44 am

I honestly do not think anyone should buy th tcl, even for the money! Save up a bit extra, and buy the lg bx, or a sony a9 or a8 series. I have had bad experiences with both Tcl and hisense. And strongly believe you will be happier with the sony or lg. If those oleds are too oricey. There is only 1 tv that rules them all, *for the price* the sony 950h. Google it! And! If you can find one. And u do buy it, please come back and let me know how happy you are ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป p.s i aint a sony pony, or lg fanboy. But, before i bought tv, i really wanted a tv. And these tvs all ticked the boxes, hdmi 2.1, 4k hdr, and have extremely good support even till the time of writing this in december 2020
