Hi what’s ur view about JBL bar 9.1? Rarely hear or see people review about this

  2. MetalsForBrunch on June 1, 2022 at 10:46 pm

I heard the Sony soundbar with subwoofer/rear speakers had the best dolby Atmos compared to all the other soundbars.

Some of the sony LG and Vizio’s suffer from bad dialog hard to hear what’s the people are saying unless volume is way up. While the tcls have great dialog clarity for a low end soundbar but no HDMI earc and no dts and proper speaker adjustments.

These guys are so wrong on there evaluation I swear they need to get there ears tuned because there’s no chance that the sonos arc is better than the Sony A-7000

Where did the Samsung HW-Q950A go? It seems to be widely recommended even over the Bose 900 and is very affordable.

  10. jucluva on June 1, 2022 at 10:56 pm

This is already old. The model he tested is 3 years old. Nakamichi released a new 2022 9.2.4 EARC that has even more power and deeper bass in the dual subs. It eliminates any compression and the most Immersive sound bar based system I have ever heard. I am very happy which it.

I sold my Sonos ARC, Sub, ones on Kijiji and got the Q950A. The Samsung Q950A blows it out of the water not even close, especially when watching lossless 4K UHD Blu Ray.

the ARC setup sounds better for music but overall the Q950A is much better imo

Also I’ve had the Q950A for about 6 months now and have not had one single connection issue. This wasn’t my experience with Sonos…I had several drop outs

  16. The_Godfather on June 1, 2022 at 11:05 pm

Do you think the new Samsung Soundbar is better than the new Nakamichi soundbar

    Sony A7000?

  18. pelarik johor on June 1, 2022 at 11:07 pm

Samsung 2022. Looks great and upgraded. For example Q800A just 3.1.2 now Q800B 5.1.2. Also wonder with wireless dolby atmos to tv without cables.

I have a Samsung QN90A TV and am considering the Vizio V Series V51-H6. Any known issues when it comes to connection given they are not the same brand? i would hate to deal having to disconnect/reconnect often…

  24. Web Bee on June 1, 2022 at 11:14 pm

Nakamichi speakers are garbage. And I’m not paid for this review!

I brought this sound bar due to the high reviews it got. After using it I would say the reviews are way overly positive. Either everyone has very low expectations or they have never heard a quality system. I guess if u are going from an ipod to this this is a great system. But if you have something to compare this system (like Bose) with than there are a lot of shortcomings that does not demand this price. The followings are some of the issues I found with the 7.2.4 system after 2 weeks of usage:

    1. The system is present to turn on at volume 45, need to load patch to fix.
    2. The sound system logic is very basic, nothing compares to a full fledge sound amplifier that provide much much more audio detail. This system lacks any directional audio detail.
    3. You can bearly hear anything out of the rear speakers, they are only ON about 5% of the time.
    4. The sound producted from the system is just loud with very very minimal surround sound detail. 2d audio vs 3d audio
    5. The connection wire for the rear speakers are very thin, it’s about 3mm thick. I guess it doesn’t matter because no audio comes out of it anyway.
    6. The speaker setting display is on the center soundbar behind a grill, display in pixel led. You will not be able to see the display if you are more than 5-8ft away. For the price they couldn’t create an on screen display? Useless
    7. The Audio sounds like you are in a tunnel, I guess thats what they think 5.1 should sound like.
    8. The speaker will sometime pop as you traverse through Netflix selections.
    9. There is a 5 second delay in Netflix after a selection before sound comes out of the speakers.
    10. The solution for the slow processing speed for the volume control is to have the volume selection slip every other number. So, the volume control is only usable by 2 digit increments. 2, 4, 6, 8, etc. So if u think 7 is just right too bad that is not available. Super dumb!
    11. The inwall screw anchor is one size too large. There is a great chance the screws could pop out. You should insert an additional anchor into the one provided.
    12. The sound level fluctuates.
    13. The HDMI cables that came with it are garbage. For a grand, I would think they could spend $10 bucks for a better cable. I guess milk you once since they know you won’t buy again. Smart business.
    14. The location of the HDMI plugs are brainless. This is a sound bar that will be mounted on the wall below the TV. But the placement of the HDMI plugs are at the back of the unit not even facing up. Little thought was put in to design this system.

I just did all the work for them on version 3.0 for free.

Overall, this system didn’t meet my expectation and the brand quality of Nikamichi. Will come back if I find anything else.

Please give me a thumbs up if this was helpful.

Update (April 2021) – These speakers are garbage. I just can’t express how much I hate these speaker. Over price junk. It has so much problems that it should be considered Beta speakers. Today the soundbar just started to automatically turnoff every 20 mins. I guess it because it decided to put itself on standby mode. I spent 2 hours and still cant find out how to turn that off. JUNK!

(JAN2022) – I had to come back here to provide another update. I thought I could get use to the system after some time. But one can never get use to garbage because it just get more disgusting over time. This sound bar is beyond the ability to describe. If you pay over $200 for this system you are over paying. That is why you see so many people trying to dump this garbage. I’m surprised there isn’t a class action lawsuit for the grief this system cause! Please save yourself the agony and buy something else.

(Jan2022) – Now the speaker is acting up. The eARC is not detecting apple TV. Must unplug and reply again. This has happened many many times. Can’t express how much these speakers are garbage

(May2022) – Now I have no idea what is wrong with the speakers. When I turn it one it does not go to the last set values. Not I have to set it every time. Also the unit is running slower. I haven’t heard much from the rear speakers for months. I’m really tired of these speakers. I know why people are selling them. I just wish the company would take this junk back.

(JUN2022) – just watched the new star wars show with the speakers. The show has ATMOS. You wouldn’t be able tell with this audio system. 99% of the time it’s only the sound bar that is running. I think the logic chip junk and is unable to process any of the audio correctly. $1000 for this system is ridiculous, when a $100 system would sound better.

If Bose had better surround speakers I’d buy.

  31. Harris Iliadis on June 1, 2022 at 11:20 pm

How is it possible that the arc wins the single soundbar shootout but when we add the surrounds and the sub it is worse than Bose?? No way in hell the sub and the ones are worse in sound quality. Especially when the sub compensates the lower frequencies and the arc focuses on midrange and base…

  32. roshan kumar on June 1, 2022 at 11:20 pm

    Q800A is best in midrange!

  33. Andy Mckay on June 1, 2022 at 11:22 pm

Great review!😄 I know none made the list but I love soundbar designs that have the detachable, wireless satellite speakers – like the JBL bar 9.1 (which you have a review on) and the Philips Fidelio B97. I would have thought this design would be more popular with consumers. Hopefully we get more in the future.

When will you guys start reviewing the new 2022 Samsung soundbars? Specifically the Q series (HW-Q600B, HW-Q700B etc)

  35. Total plonker on June 1, 2022 at 11:22 pm

I’ve had several soundbars and a surround sound package but it was only when I purchased an budget AVR and a pair of budget stereo speakers that I realised what I had been missing (stereo imaging, thumping base) besides going down this route one can always add to it overtime!  subwoofer, surround speakers you could even get height speakers to get the full ‘non-virtual’ Dolby Atmos experience. Nowadays AVRs are so simple to setup, they even walk you through the process!

No point in buying anything over Vifa Stockholm 2.0…

  37. Eyen Mathis on June 1, 2022 at 11:28 pm

If you get the Bose setup…run adaptiq on the soundbar alone…its so much more immersive…if you run adaptiq with the base module and surround speakers it will dull their sound…keep the base module and surround speakers at their out of box state and make your preferred adjustments on the app only…if you have already run adaptiq with base module and surround speakers connected no worries…just do a factory reset on the whole setup…then unplug the base module and surround speakers and run the adaptiq on the soundbar alone…i did this and it makes a huge difference…base is much more pronounced, atmos effects are better, and surround speakers are louder…that setup is unstoppable and i cant see how anything else can sound this good…that’s why I respect rtings so much…they know good products

  38. Maxine bailey on June 1, 2022 at 11:28 pm

Why are soundbars so expensive?? Like for the price of the Bose soundbar alone, (899) You can get a yamaha 5.1 receiver big high quality fronts and surrounds a decent center channel all the speaker wire and cables you need and a decent budget subwoofer like the bic f12. which will blow it out of the water in sound stage and quality. and the full bose set up costs a whopping 2.2K you could get a legit 7 channel plus height speaker set up for that much

Can you do a comparison between Sonos arc with sub surrounds vs bose with the same. Pros and cons. What hifi states Sonos set up is better. Really would appreciate it.

  42. nick ferrante on June 1, 2022 at 11:30 pm

Rtings reviews are conflicting somewhat, one example is the Sennheiser Ambeo. I’ve noticed Rtings compare it to soundbars that have been out a while. It is tough to do a apples to apples comparison. A lot of these sound bars come with a wireless sub or at a additional cost option(Sonos, Bose). The Ambeo is one of the most expensive out there. Based on its price it seems like it does get harsh criticism. Sound quality is way better than anything out there. Details, voice clarity during intense movie scenes, supports dts formats and option to use any sub with a rca cable. Ambeo does ok with bass on its own. If you pair it with a good to great quality sub is where it really shines. It lets the bar handle mid to high frequencies better. If you take any of these bars and fairly take away the wireless subs away…. It would really be no contest. And the Sennheiser OS app has been redone. It supports airplay 2, tidal and Spotify connect. If Sennheiser had a way to support wireless rear speakers….it really would be special.

  43. Alessandro Mantovani on June 1, 2022 at 11:31 pm

After trying many soundbars i finally settled for an Ambeo + SVS subwoofer combo. Expensive i know, but nothing comes close.

  47. RTINGS com on June 1, 2022 at 11:37 pm

There was a mix-up in the finalization of this video and we included cons for the standalone Bose Smart Soundbar 900 instead of the full setup; this is why you’ll notice the pros and cons differ from our written review. Our views about the Bose Smart Soundbar 900 with Speakers and Base Module remain accurate – it’s a premium 5.1.2 soundbar that uses psychoacoustic principles to create a wide soundstage when watching movies. So, whether you’re watching surround or Atmos content, you really feel like you’re right in the middle of the action, with sounds taking place all around you.
