  4. Thomas Thomassen on May 16, 2022 at 8:11 pm

I am using a samsung 49 inch ultrawide, but I am going to swap it out., My need has changed, and I find myself with more and more black sides on the screen, space not being used…

  5. Polis Dimitriadis on May 16, 2022 at 8:11 pm

Very nice. I have a question that no one answered properly. When you connect a macbookpro to a display via thunderbolt cable, does this setup harm the battery of the macbook when using it daily as a desktop unit.? Some say, the machine will recognize that it is powered up constantly and the current by pass the battery so it does not stress it. What is your advise? What is the proper and safe way to use a laptop with a desktop monitor?

Love to see a review of the pairing of the new LG 42" C2 OLED TV with an M1 Mac. Including good TB3/TB4 to HDMI 2.1 cable choices in order to get the higher refresh.

I was just wanting to buy a 55” tv for a second display on my MacBook Pro, why is that so hard to find, tons of people talk about mirroring but I don’t want to just mirror, I need an extra screen more screen real estate, to see things on my MacBook that don’t show up on the second monitor

I love that the surface of my ipad is kind of shiny, but all monitors seem to be matt, what do I have to look for, to get a monitor with a more “glassy“ screen, please?

  21. wingsley on May 16, 2022 at 8:25 pm

Apple recently muddied the waters further by introducing their new-for-2022 Studio Display for $1,600 US. What I like about the Studio Display: VESA mount option, good image quality and color accuracy, ability to pivot to "portrait mode" for DTP work, 27" diagonal, Thunderbolt, solid design, 5K. What I hate about it: EX-PEN-SIVE! I’m wondering if there’s an aftermarket display offers those features listed above for substantially less money.

can someone tell me why people use USB-C or thunderbolt cables instead of just using a HDMI cable?

  23. The Frog on May 16, 2022 at 8:26 pm

I don’t have a 2nd screen, my external monitor is my only screen for my good old mid 2012 MacBook Pro 13" since its screen went black in 2020.
I know what the problem is, it’s the back light but unfortunately there is no competent repair shop in my place to deal with the right circuit on the motherboard.
As I have very little money in the bank, I tried 2nd hand monitors but most of them were VGA and as I have Thunderbolt 2 (no typing error here) I wanted HDMI… this and a great bargain at the time led me to the Philips 241E (100€) plugged with a cable Thunderbolt 2 to HDMI (13€).
Probably not the best set up but it allows me to use my MacBook Pro and watch your video.

  24. brian voong on May 16, 2022 at 8:30 pm

Looking at the ASUS 27" Pro Art 4K now at $499. Seems to land at just the right price point for good colors and USBC connectivity, also comes with a nice stand for portrait mode without having to clamp on a monitor arm. Excellent summary on the thunderbolt 3/4 vs USBC vs HDMI 2/2.1 vs DisplayPort in the beginning. Trying to explain that to someone new to the monitor scene is definitely a challenge!

😊Maybe a silly question … But is it possible to use a macbook display and keyboard with the new mac studio👀❓

  26. Garry Cohen on May 16, 2022 at 8:33 pm

What’s the best 120 mhz plus 27” or larger 5k monitor to work with the new Mac Studio? If it’s not a Mac monitor will the web cam still work with an Apple if it’s not a dedicated Apple monitor?

  27. Tim Carpenter on May 16, 2022 at 8:36 pm

Good video thanks for the information

  28. Syed Sulaiman on May 16, 2022 at 8:39 pm

Do the 2k monitor work great with macbook pro 14"
Cause some in reviews say it’s a problem

  29. The Thai Life on May 16, 2022 at 8:41 pm

I bought the Dell at your recommendation. It completely sucks. Minus the ports being nice, the quality of the display is eye torture. Did you actually try it? I’m guessing no. I feel like you guys should really be more careful when you recommend things.

  30. RideByAquib on May 16, 2022 at 8:42 pm

24" 1080p looks bad for macs these days. I have a 24" BenQ on a mac mini and the fonts really look bad. Need atleast 1440p.

What Video USB C plug do you use?

  32. David Salgado on May 16, 2022 at 8:44 pm

This video is super cool, do you think you could do a video covering the experience of using a Studio Display as a 2nd monitor of an iMac Retina 5K 27”
    – Does the audio work in both screens?
    – Which camera will be used?
    – How’s the workflow?

hi. I have just recently bought the mac book pro as i want to do start an allotment channel, any advice on a monitor that would tick the boxes to get started.

  35. Josh on May 16, 2022 at 8:46 pm

If 4K60 (HDMI 2.0) is the limit on the macbooks, how can you get higher refresh rates with it? Just use an hdmi to usb-c adapter? Assuming that the monitor has HDMI 2.1 not 2.0.

  36. Biel Rabell on May 16, 2022 at 8:47 pm

Hey guys, can someone tell me what are the differences between Dell U2723QE and U2720Q? I’m new in this world and it’s hard for me to see if it’s worth the money!

  37. Andreas Pfeffer on May 16, 2022 at 8:50 pm

I‘m sorry but the Pro Display XDR isn‘t a normal IPS its a mini LED like the new MacBook Pros

  38. iFruit on May 16, 2022 at 8:52 pm

I think a lot of people opted for the mateview 4k+

  39. Guilland Anthony on May 16, 2022 at 8:52 pm

I recently bought the Dell UltraSharp U2723QE as an extention to my iMac 2017. I was at first a little bit sceptical because it was cheaper than other models and it feels like plastic. But I have to admit that it is a beast. It covers 100 % sRGB and the image quality is jaw dropping with IPS Black. I love it and I don’t regret the investment.

Yes minimum of two monitors for a composer

  42. Mark Withers on May 16, 2022 at 8:57 pm

Haven’t mentioned the Apple Studio Display. Maybe this was before it existed? I am getting the nano textured glass and height-adjustable.

  43. Chris Fraschetti on May 16, 2022 at 8:58 pm

Thank you for the info! Very informative and helpful. Well, I like many were waiting for Apple to bring out the new and improved 27" iMac! Then the Mac Studio showed up. I like the studio and will most likely go with that but I can’t see myself spending the money for the Studio display. I think Apple is nuts! It’s really just an iMac screen without the computer! Really was hoping to find a great alternate for that display because I was really looking at getting two 27" monitors. I have been looking a lot at the Dell UltraSharp 27 4K USB-C Hub Monitor – U2723QE as well as the U2720Q, bu thought the newer model would be better. Would love to get your thoughts and suggestions on this and any others. Really just worried that I will have issues connecting to the studio with a monitor or monitors other than Apple’s, worried screen text will need to be scaled, brightness, matte finish of the screen instead of glossy, etc? I have always just stuck with the iMac but the 24" is not what I want. Thank you!
