Best Budget Phones Under £300 (Summer 2022) | Top 10 Reviewed

Reviewing the top 10 best budget smartphones you can grab for a UK price under £300 in 2022. Here’s my favourite phones when it comes to camera tech, gaming performance, battery life and beyond, for a low-to-mid-range cost. From the Xiaomi Redmi Note 11 Pro and Poco X4 to the OnePlus Nord CE 2 5G and Realme 9, these handsets offer solid value for your cash.

Xiaomi is still one of the best mobile manufacturers in 2022 for budget-friendly prices. The Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G has hit the UK and impresses in almost every area for around £300. Some camera quirks aside (like the lack of 4K video shooting), it’s hard to find much to fault. As long as you don’t mind MiUI that is. The Poco X4 Pro is essentially the same phone though, so check pricing before you commit! And don’t forget the X3 Pro if you’re after a cheaper smartphone.

The Realme 9 may lack that 5G connectivity but it makes up for that with strong media chops and impressive battery life. And I’m also a fan of the OnePlus Nord CE 2, as it boasts many of the same advantages, including decent battery life and a reasonably dependable camera. Be warned that the CE 2 Lite model does away with the OLED screen and super-fast charging, however.

Then there’s Motorola’s budget phones if you’re after a stock Android vibe instead. The Moto G82 will hopefully be in for review soon! While Samsung’s Galaxy A32 5G is a good smartphone for this affordable asking price, with OneUI and solid security tools.

I picked up the Poco X4 Pro for £159 a few weeks ago.

    I do agree, Chris..
Great battery life, screen and audio – but shite cameras and software updates.

I love your black cat had one just like it

  3. Alreadyburst on June 30, 2022 at 11:54 pm

Samsung phones those not are Samsung note and galaxy are all trash… don’t buy them…the camera is always….not good and it tends to have a software issue or lagging..

  4. Michael Beattie on June 30, 2022 at 11:56 pm

For anyone interested in the Poco F3, currently running Android 12, with MIUI (Global) 13. Current security update is 1st April 2022 which isn’t great, but I cannot find a better phone for a similar price.

  5. OnlyFangs on June 30, 2022 at 11:57 pm

  8. Jason Wright on July 1, 2022 at 12:03 am

Is it worth getting any of these phones to replace a 3 year old Samsung s10

  9. Russ on July 1, 2022 at 12:05 am

Waiting for the Nothing Phone (1) to launch on 12th July for approx £450-500.

Poco X3 NFC – Really good phone! Shame a accidentally spilt bottle of coke over the bloody thing 🙄

  10. Pomerau on July 1, 2022 at 12:08 am

Not my best choices right now. The Redmi Note 11’s are a little overpriced in xiaomi’s line up. As mentioned in other comments the Galaxy A52s is worth searching for.
What happened to the newer galaxy A33 with better specs while admittedly listing a little above the 300 mark there will be network and other deals around.
Also the new and so longer supported Poco F4 is starting at £279(6/128) up to 329(8/256) in a launch promotion. I’m sure the Oneplus Nord 2 could get close to that top price as well.

  11. GYS on July 1, 2022 at 12:09 am

I’ll happily go for Realme now instead of Xiaomi because of its crappy software. Good hardware alone means nothing if the OEM failed to optimize it. Not to mention those quality issues I had with Xiaomi before, so no, I won’t go for Xiaomi anymore.

Always the best reviews 👌 🍻

Have been using the Moto Edge 20 Lite for 3 months with no problems. Now around £250 and with 8gb Ram it really flies.

  16. Jude Cambridge on July 1, 2022 at 12:14 am

What about Samsung galaxy A32? Is it cool to buy it?

  21. Mohammed Yasser Akkad on July 1, 2022 at 12:22 am

A52s with 120hz display and OIS in the camera is better than most of the budget phones

  22. Quinch on July 1, 2022 at 12:26 am

No love for the OPPO Reno 7 at only £250? Is it that bad?

  23. Luigi on July 1, 2022 at 12:26 am

I’d love to see your electricity bill charging those 50 phones 😜

  24. Jude Cambridge on July 1, 2022 at 12:29 am

I feel like I’ve seen this before 🤔

  25. Kim Nguyễn on July 1, 2022 at 12:29 am

    Still rocking Poco X3 Pro.
The phone itself is amazing. Do yourself a favor, unlock bootloader and flash any AOSP ROM. X3 Pro now ascended to whole new level. MIUI is garbo

  26. baroldi adjust on July 1, 2022 at 12:31 am

poco x3 pro is ok but…..change region in settings to turkey to get update to Android 12……if you don’t you wil not get L1 on netflix disney + hbo max…..on android 11 global L1 is broken…..and turkey have updated global version of poco x3 pro.

  29. data geek on July 1, 2022 at 12:34 am

  30. FireGate_13 on July 1, 2022 at 12:35 am

Very bad video… Too many recommendations.
    Just give the three best

  31. minnuss on July 1, 2022 at 12:35 am

The best phone out there got only 16s of review ! 🤣

  32. zioNNN' on July 1, 2022 at 12:36 am

Should have included the Moto G52 as a cheaper alternative to the G82. No OIS, 90hz vs 120hz, and 695 vs 680 for 60€ difference, but I have them both at home and the day to day experience is 99% the same except for gaming scenarios.

  33. MrYamaha413 on July 1, 2022 at 12:37 am

i am happy owner of poco x3 pro and will stick to it as this years models are step back in some departments like over all performance.. and processing power is more important than camera resolutions.. last year poco x3 pro with SN 860 and 48 megapixel camera makes better photos than this year 108 mega camera with SN 695 ! and the only upgrade is oled screen – somehow disappointing – they should stick to SN860 and upgrade the screen in my opinion

  34. Syed Haider Rafiq on July 1, 2022 at 12:37 am

Watching on my Poco X3 Pro ❤️

  35. HunterDeuling on July 1, 2022 at 12:38 am

I really like my Xiaomi 11 5G NE. Greet little phone

  36. Richard Clowes on July 1, 2022 at 12:39 am

I’ve got a Huawei mate 20 lite which has been great but is getting a bit old now. What’s the best non-Chinese replacement for around £300? Thanks!

  37. Sreejith on July 1, 2022 at 12:40 am

    Realme 9pro+ Good phone.

  38. KOD on July 1, 2022 at 12:40 am

Poco x3 pro and poco f3 are still ahead of the new midrangers of the same price

  39. Neo on July 1, 2022 at 12:40 am

Can someone please tell me where I can buy the iqoo neo 6 here in the UK? The only place I can see is ebay and I ain’t spending 300 quidish smackers there. Please tell me there’s a proper retailer that will sell me one. Cheers.

  43. Gerard Martin on July 1, 2022 at 12:44 am

Is it just me or is some of this video just recycled from previous videos. Sounds so familiar.

  44. KnifelyBos on July 1, 2022 at 12:45 am

The poco f3 and x3 pro are still the value kings.

  45. Amure Abiodun on July 1, 2022 at 12:49 am

Nice job. But, how come Infinix Note 12 VIP didn’t make it into the list Chris?

  46. Elliot Bates on July 1, 2022 at 12:49 am

How many years of security updates do Xiaomi/Poco phones usually get? Missed out on the deal they had for the F4. Thinking of going for the F3 or X3 instead. The Vivo IQOO looks well spec’d. It certainly makes my shortlist

  47. Nigel PJ on July 1, 2022 at 12:49 am

Which of these have take a micro SD?

  48. Belal Khairy on July 1, 2022 at 12:50 am
