Best budget phones under £200 (Winter 2020) | Xiaomi, Poco, Moto & more!
Reviewing and comparing the best budget smartphones of 2020 under £200, including the Poco X3 NFC and Poco M3, Xiaomi’s Redmi 9, Motorola’s Moto G9 Power and Play, plus the Nokia 5.3. Here’s how these cheap phones costing less than £200 stack up for camera tech, gaming performance, battery life and beyond. I’ve gone hands-on with all these mobiles and reviewed most of them, to help you decide your favourite.
The Poco M3 is one of the latest budget handsets with a price under £150, although you’ll need to import to the UK. The camera is rather limited and it’s a bit quirky at times, but the FHD screen and battery life are excellent. All the same, I’d recommend upgrading to the X3 NFC if you have the cash.
You’ll also occasionally find Xiaomi smartphones slipping under that price point in sales, like the Mi 10T Lite. Otherwise the likes of the Redmi 9 and Note 9 are always under £200 and offer strong specs and features.
Motorola offers some great stock Android alternatives like the Moto G9 Play and Power. These budget smartphones don’t boast a FHD screen with fast refresh, unlike the Poco X3, but they are solid all-round devices. And HMD’s Nokia 5.3 is another of my favourites for around £150.

I use realme 6 with 4gb ram and moto g9 plus and they are very good for their price.
Anyway poco x3 is the best budget phone.

I managed to get a Realme 7 Pro for 180 quid, I think it is a good deal! It is on sale at 229 but sadly its only silver colour and mine is silver too 🙁

For anyone worrying about ads on the Poco X3 NFC I own this amazing phone and the ads are virtually non existent and the very rare times they do appear it’s never when you are actually using the phone and they are easily permanently removed in about 5 minutes if you want. I haven’t bothered because they are so unobtrusive. As for performance it’s brilliant so fast with the 732g chip, lasts 2 days with 5100+mah battery which with 33watt fast charge will fully charge in an hour (goodbye battery anxiety) 120hz refresh and 240hz touch sampling full hd and hdr10 screen, loud stereo speakers with headphone jack, ir blaster that works great, quad cameras with 64mp main camera, face and fingerprint unlock with a notification led, liquid cooled heatpipe to stop phone overheating, dual SIM or micro SD expansion slot, and free case and screen protector all for £199 for 64 gig or £230 for 128gig version. In my opinion THE phone of the year in regards specs to price. Hope this helps anyone on the fence regarding this phone. Cheers!

When I decided it was my destiny to switch from iOS to android I decided to test the waters with an android one device, because I wanted (at least some of) the guaranteed OS update support I was used to with iOS. So I am currently enjoying a lovely Nokia 5.3 in cyan, but am wondering how other brands fare when it comes to update support from the manufacturers. How do the likes of poco, xiaomi, redmi et al fare when it comes to updates?
Do Xiaomi and Poco phones across the globe do not have bloatware or ads (like here in India) along with their shitty UI? 🤔
