I went from an old dell inspiron n15101 that ran windows 7 originally after Microsoft dropped support I switched to XFCE Linux Mint. But it ran reliably for years compiling code was abit on the long side but it worked. Got a framework and spec’d it out my self with my own hardware and am very happy with it. I hope they get big and make waves in the Industry.

Very cool, I remember when Google had an idea for a similar product, but it was a phone, it was interesting because you could change pretty much everything, battery, screen, microphones, cameras, whatever you wanted.
The project got cancelled. Obviously.

Why can’t they make the CPU and GPU removable /upgradable and not soldered to the motherboard ??
This is really cool but it only really excels in allowing for easy repairs. It could be a great product if they also looked at the accessibility standpoint like having a braille or raised keyboard, or being able to swap out the keyboard entirely for an adaptive game controller. Bluetooth and NFC/RFID reader/writer expansion cards. Something similar to a touch bar on a Macbook. It’s a cool concept but it just seems like it’s too early to buy.

I don’t want to hate on it. I personally love it. But it’s getting to much hype
would it technically be able to use electromagnetic ports to enable transfer, no ports, helps with "water proofing", as well as power said device. it is technically possible to charge magnets certain poles as well as switching if need more data transfer and/or charging
Magnetic type C cables are already available (though you’ll get a nub on the port) and i would buy that if my laptop charges through type C (i got one for my phone)

Fhdkchdnsksbf THEY NEED A TRANSPARENT CASE IF THEY HAVENT… No not a protective case, like a transparent bezel so you can see the inside components
I want to also add if there is ANY concern about needing to buy other IO modules, they are 10-20 dollars CHEAPER than buying an adapter from the store!
It’s a bit sad they don’t offer any bigger screen sizes, and no option with a GPU.

This laptop is for suckers. I bet the parts break down frequently so the company gets to charge you parts forever. It can’t possibly be a decent computer.
*It needs a larger touchscreen and more I/o ports and it would have a market with more users, particularly with those who run Hauptwerk software which requires 64 mega of RAM and a movable, upgradable computer.*

Sorry but I would still prefer Macbook pro design. Central Trackpad and keyboard so much nicer to write tbh. The Design ist also, meh 17" and more boxy kinda like Asus zephyrus white one and a macbook air the speculated m2 design. would be awesome.

Great idea the upgradable laptop. It’s on my list of where to buy the next one before I head to Dell.
Oh, and not all of us are US based. So offering free headsets kinda stink when it’s US based only. 🙁
Tech heads will appreciate, but the average consumer simply won’t care and would prefer to pay a premium for convenience
Even if Framework folds tomorrow, you still have a fantastic laptop and there should be some used parts on Ebay. Certainly more parts than Apple will provide.
I’m loving mine, though sadly the screen may be too much resolution for my poor eyes.
I don’t need or want a laptop but I almost want to buy one anyway just to support the proliferation of products like this. 👍🏻

have you ever looked at a lenovo thinkpad?
I have 2 of the 400 series, socketed(and upgradable) CPU, 2 memory slots, a few PCI slots for WiFi and stuff, one can be used for LTE or an SSD
the DVD drive can be replaced by a HDD case, or you can slot in an extra battery(one of 3 available battery pack locations)
got all sorts of ports on the laptop, and once you put it in a dock you can run 3 monitors with DVI, VGA or HDMI, get 10 USB ports and whatever
for 200$ you can pick one up in good condition, with dock and 2 power supplies, parts are still available
Not sure what the deal is with some companies making hard to upgrade / repair. HP (Elitebok range) and Lenovo Carbon and T Series are all easy to get the back off and upgrade RAM or SSD’s.
Maybe Apple and Microsoft should learn from them. The HP’s are quite attractive, admittedly the Lenovos are a bit ugly.
