2017 Home Theater (audio/video) equipment set up

First, my apologies for the poor video and audio quality on this footage. I was using my old cell phone since both of other devices ran out of battery. This is my current 5.2.4 set up in my living room and 5.2 in my basement. I’m not an audiophile/expert and it’s nothing high end, but this set up does it’s job for my personal enjoyment. IMO, it’s all matter of your own listening/viewing preference and budget to build your own system. Feel free to check out the links if you’re thinking about upgrading to new subs or speakers.

Nice setup bro!! I have seperate amplifiers for all channels(5.1) and to all of you who have never had seperates in your system do’nt knock it until you tried it, some people think it is overkill but the sound really is amazing!!

    What tv stand is that

  9. Michael Marr on October 23, 2020 at 8:16 pm

It has nothing to do with high end, but you have really good setup. As you can see brand name and made in does not matter. Quality and wiring is. In fact, I’m pretty sure it is really good theater setup. I would recommend to not listening anyone’s know-it-all. I called it laughable. Overall, you did a good job. By the way, I have Oppo 205.

  10. The Home Cinema Engineer on October 23, 2020 at 8:16 pm

ummm why do you have a cheapo Smasung blu ray player when you have the vastly superior Oppo 203?

and you got game consoles for streaming so why not sell it?

    nice setup though! svs!

  11. bobby gilkey on October 23, 2020 at 8:18 pm

Great setup, do you have your subs pluged into your power conditioner or straight into the wall?

  12. Daan on October 23, 2020 at 8:19 pm

Thinking about the Prime Bookshelf and 2 pb-1000.

Very nice and clean. Can u please tell me which pvc pipe you used for speaker wire run and how you attached them to the wall? Thank you.

  19. On2Red on October 23, 2020 at 8:27 pm

Great set up I’m using the elevations 2 but only one pair.
I’m using them high on my side according to the SVS people that’s the best option if you only have one pair. And do you know you can mount them in your ceiling?
I wonder if the effect will be better.

    Cheers!

  22. Home Cinema on October 23, 2020 at 8:29 pm

You’ve got a lot of stuff on the bench that doesn’t need to be there all them extra amps and stuff why not just get a decent receiver but I guess if you did that it might not look as good don’t be fooled people this is a bog standard setup

LG isn’t the only player ion the OLED game, but it’s for sure the biggest winner.

  28. Oscar Pepino on October 23, 2020 at 8:36 pm

The rear height and the side surrounds are almost on the ceiling. Sorry. Nope. Not good

  29. Mani Kumar on October 23, 2020 at 8:36 pm

is that ok if speakers are placed corner of the wall

  30. scott schiavone on October 23, 2020 at 8:37 pm

dude your microphone isn’t working that great… very muffled… but I like your setup

  31. ksaunders359 on October 23, 2020 at 8:37 pm

Great setup. Your front heights look a little close to the side walls. I’d be a little concerned about reflections, and effects steering, but that said I don’t know if it would matter as much for the height channels. How does it sound?

  32. Eros Vinsol on October 23, 2020 at 8:42 pm

I just love what you did here all my favorite gear in one spot , I’m looking to do the same when I get the funds. I’m looking at marantz receivers but denon would do just fine , it is what I have at the moment I have a denon avr 890 old thing but it is what I have also running a pair of really old energy 5.1e speakers and a definitive center channel with a energy 12 inch sub . But I’m really looking forward to starting a new build. Thank you for sharing your wonderful system with us both of them. Take care and God bless.

  33. Lester D on October 23, 2020 at 8:43 pm

Hi, I see you have a ps4 connected in your set up. Did you encounter the error of HDR not supported through the receiver? If so how did you over come it? I have a ps4 pro connected to a marantz receiver using 4k passthrough & it will not work for  4k it keeps my ps4 in 2k but when I go directly to my tv the 4k works.

Snakes and Home Theater. Interesting combo. Very nice setup!

  36. Manoroid N on October 23, 2020 at 8:49 pm

What are your amperes on your wall right there if you dont mind me asking? Thinking of a similar setup and I only have a 20 amp circuit for my living room with one outlet for everything. I am thinking of maybe the outlaw 5000 and the 3 mono outlaws too.

  37. Total plonker on October 23, 2020 at 8:49 pm

very nice job! With such a lovely looking setup and attention to detail, I’m a little curious why your height channel speaker cables are not behind the moulding/coving? Either way, you should be proud of yourself! Thanks for posting

  38. Zeh games on October 23, 2020 at 8:50 pm

To get the DOLBY ATMOS effect you need to place the 4 sealing speakers above you and not in front. Let them hang over your head that the way to do it ;D

  49. Home Cinema on October 23, 2020 at 9:02 pm

I’m fully aware that if you have separate power amp’s it can make a difference to the performance of your speakers but as I was saying one decent av receiver would be more than enough to power you’re cheep not so powerful speakers i I’ve got a denon 6400h and it has more than enough power in it for my bowers and Wilkins CMS2 and my kef R50 atmos speaker’s 7.1.4 bye the way I was thinking about buying a separate power amp my self recently because when I got the atmos speakers the sound was a bit lower than it was previously with out them so I called my local hifi retailer and asked do I need a separate power amp now they could have said or yes you do just to get a sale but guess what when I told them what receiver I’m using the expert told me my receiver was more than capable of powering my speakers and that atmos sound is lower than say Dolby true hd for example and it’s nothing to worry about and as I said at the beginning of this if you had some bigger and better speakers you would need separate power amps

Height channels are too close to the wall. Looks good tho.
