I dont even need to watch this , Thinkpads like t480S , x1 CARBONS, depends if you dont need crazy processing and graphics, and Mac Hardware is good . That said, it has almost nothing to do with how good of a programmer you sare other than if your employer hooks you up with a beast for just working there.

2:21 lol your screen is always dusty af 😂 btw why is your screen yellow like that? Like the whites are yellow. Also it may just be the light, but the volume icons and stuff on your control bar screen look red?

Literally any fucking machine will do. Buy the cheapest baseline models of something like dell or a ThinkPad . Just swap out the ram for a higher ram(16 is plenty) and an ssd and you’re golden

Most people wont recommend but go for a gaming laptop like Asus ROG for programming. Its fast, buttery smooth wirg 120hz refresh rate, fast ssd, dedicated gpu if you want to do machine learning and ofcourse i7 multithreading advantage with 16gigs of ram. Its a heaven for anything u develop on it.

Okay, I’m a 16-year-old middle school student who is developing an app with a flutter-in made by Google in Korea. Should I buy a MacBook for programming? It doesn’t matter if you download WSL from Windows and develop it, right? I was looking to buy Dell xps 179700. I like Dell products. Especially now, I’m using 27 inches of ultra-sharp, which is Dell’s monitor. The bezel is really thin.

Totally make sense and agree with you all the points except for the case of Windows. I find myself Windows has the best tools needed by a developer. I often use windows Ink Workspace, Screen Snip, Mobile hotspot, My Phone app and lots of other tools. I also use Linux for my AOSP code development and building and everything.

Some people complain windows is slow, but if you switch to SSD, it will fly. My HP have 8Gb, i5 with 256SSD + 1TB HDD and 2Gb Radeon Graphics. Been using this for the last 4 years. 🙂

Guys you don’t need to search for a best programming laptop.I personally use a hp entry level laptop for coding, upgraded my machine to 8gb ram with 1TB SSD. And It works fine for me. Web development, designing, Android development for this kind of work. And my CPU is AMD 3020e with 1.4ghz.

  12. ItsJugu on August 12, 2021 at 9:56 pm

FOR OS CHOICES: windows now supports Linux kernels so just go with your personal preference

  13. Daniel Ammerman on August 12, 2021 at 9:56 pm

    XPS 13

  14. Rahul Jana on August 12, 2021 at 9:59 pm

Bought a gaming windows laptop for max performance, then installed pop os(ubuntu based distro). Having the best experience of all time. I do most of my work on machine learning and deep learning using gpu, I had to admit performance is unparallel. And it runs csgo at ~150-170 fps, which is ~30-40 fps more than windows.

  15. William Alexander on August 12, 2021 at 10:06 pm

Visual studio is great for windows development

  16. Fleroner on August 12, 2021 at 10:07 pm

What is your opinion on the Spectre x360 14? Do you think it is good for a high school programming/graphics student? Note that I also own a somewhat powerful PC.

  18. Vedansh Bansal on August 12, 2021 at 10:11 pm

I have a hp elite book 840 G3 with i5 6300u and 16gb ram and 512 gb nvme m.2 but I am little concerned about gaming and editing along with coding in this laptop what should I do should I upgrade to more ram or it will be useless

  19. Max Hooker on August 12, 2021 at 10:12 pm

coding is not video edition. your recommendations is actually a waste of time

  20. Duke Skookum on August 12, 2021 at 10:13 pm

I would add: SSD over HDD. With Cloud storage and external drives it’s not really necessary to store massive amounts of data in your laptop, but you can certainly benefit from the increased I/O speed. Also, in my experience, HDDs tend to be pretty fragile.

  21. diesel828 on August 12, 2021 at 10:14 pm

If you had $1500 to spend on a laptop right now, what would you get?

  22. Efstathios Dimopoulos on August 12, 2021 at 10:14 pm

I’ve been using Windows since windows 3.0 and 99,9999% of the issues I had were caused by badly written drivers not windows it self. For a brief period I converted a Dell laptop ( after changing some components for higher compatibility ) to Hackintosh and whenever a driver sneezed the machine would crash. About SW development. Xcode, Eclipse, Android Studio, are joke compared to Visual Studio or VS Code. VS is running circles around the other tools .

  23. JAYASANKAR S on August 12, 2021 at 10:17 pm

CPU is the most important one.

Kalle.. can you please recommend some good laptop names too? Thanks

  30. Arka Ghosh on August 12, 2021 at 10:24 pm

Hej Kalle, thanks for this awesome informative video. These suggestions will help me to buy the new one.

    I have a question,

Will it be wise if I buy a new laptop from Sweden based on cost, specs, service, and warranty since I am planning to go to Stockholm next month. In India, the laptops with 32GB RAM, 1 TB SSD, AMD R7 are too expensive (high import tax) and always out of stock on amazon.

    Keep up the great work.
