So I’m in grade 11, and I’m interested in studying environmental engineering in university, probably a civil engineering course with a specialisation in environmental studies – but i’m not too sure. It is my passion to help the environment and i love the subject engineering graphics and design, so i feel like environmental engineering would be the best job for me. I also do physics, life sciences and maths core and my grades are quite high. I’m not sure if i would have to major in environmental engineering, any thoughts or advice anyone could give me?

The problem is that being an engineer in Eastern corrupted country where everything is run by clientelism , bribery , favoritism …etc make u feel embarrassed, frustrated and useless after many years of studing hard, sacrifices 😧 i’m so lost and anxious 😢
I think civil engineering is extremely underrated
It’s kinda a little late for me but I am one of those people that didn’t pay attention to my interests and I’m not that social either but I’m willing to work on my social skills but I don’t know 100% exactly what I want to do but I chose Civil Engineering. What characteristics does a civil Engineer have? Which states are growing more rapidly that need more civil Engineers to build and design? I currently live in Mississippi

Really good video with great practical advice! I came here after watching the earlier video on the same subject. I do agree with the others that said it’s over edited, though I wouldn’t remove the edits entirely. They’re very fun if you cut them down quite a bit. (Like 75% lol). Maybe you can make a video about how to be better at taking criticism because I’ve been really impressed at how thoughtful your responses have been to people who have mentioned this.
I also agree with another commenter that said that how you presented the protest clip did make it seem like you weren’t talking BLM seriously. I was happy about your response because I really want to continue watching your videos and it would’ve been hard to do if you had really felt that way.
I’m almost done with my lower division coursework for a physics degree. My goal was to go into physics/astrophysics (one of my professors says that astronomy is a gateway drug to physics and this is definitely the case for me). Suddenly I’m interested in engineering though and I honestly don’t know what to do with that. I wanted to do computer engineering when I was younger but ending up dropping out. Now that I’ve finally gotten as far as I have I don’t want anything to get in the way of just finishing a degree.
Being socially responsible is really important to me though, and not something that was a big focus going into astrophysics. My partner says that civil engineering would likely have the greatest payoff in terms of directly helping people but aerospace engineering is probably most in alignment with my interests. I don’t know if there is anyway to help people by doing aerospace engineering. I’m really lost. I don’t expect you to respond to this at all or even read it but I do feel slightly better after using YouTube comments as a journal 😋
So I’m an Australian Engineer I just clicked on this video and I haven’t yet watched the video and I’m gonna assume the best engineering major to choose in 2020 is Software Engineering/Computer Science it’s projected to grow by 23% over the next 5 years (in Australia) that or Civil Engineering which has an expected growth of 21% (in Australia) By the way I’m a Civil & Mechanical Engineer
Bachelors in Civil Engineering and Masters in Mechanical Engineer.

Now that I have watched the video and know the video is based on what type of engineering will bring you the most happiness which is a great way to pick an engineering major ill sa having worked mostly as a civil engineer that it can be an enjoyable fulfilling career but I decided veer off into mechanical engineering due to how broad it is because I realised I may want to switch engineering fields to Robotics Engineering and all be an Entrepreneur/Inventor. The idea of designing cool new products that help people will bring me great satisfaction, this is not to say I hated civil engineering (I miss it sometimes) but I just thought that this route will bring me more happiness and if it didn’t work out I could always go back to working as a Civil Engineer.
Also you made a point about weather you can be an engineer if your terrible at math and don’t like it. The answer is yes, yes you can but your likely to struggle. I myself wasn’t good at Maths and failed calculus in High School and yet I persevered with two engineering degrees I struggled in both too a degree but masters was a bit easier having already been an engineer. I have also seen the opposite happen where people didn’t do well in school or maths but graduated with first class honours in engineering (this happened to my friend who worked very hard) so it can go both ways depending on your interest in your engineering major really it’s about sitting down and constantly trying to learn new things, doing your tutorial questions and asking your lectures and tutors a lot of questions and having supportive friends around you so don’t count yourself out if you’re it good at Maths.
I don’t want to do anything too crazy. I just want to create an extremely advanced A.I. and build a robotic army to conquer the planet, and then spread that army across the galaxy.

I wish I could get a degree in physics and be an engineer. The un-great state of florida mandates you have to have a degree in engineering or engineering technology to be an engineer.

I am a grade 7 student from Bangladesh.I have watched most of your videos and I…..I just love it❤.My goal is to become an engineer.But I can not decide which major to choose.Actually my decision is not stable.At first I liked chemical engineering cuz I like chemistry,but I quilt it cuz some ppl say there is actually no chemistry in chemical engineering.Then I liked civil engimeering, but I am horrible at drawing.So I also skipped it.Now I want to be am aerospace engineering but most ppl say that it’s really hard and very competitive.And I confused about it too.The reason I want to decide my major as soon as possible is that I can start learning the basics from now on and it will be easier for me in future.But I am really confused about everything.And another problem for me about engineering is I am very bad at communication…..
