Top 10 Best Budget Phones (Spring 2021) Under £200

Reviewing the best budget smartphones of 2021 that cost under £200 here in the UK, boasting dependable cameras, gaming-ready performance and strong battery life. These Android phones are my favourites right now, including the Poco X3 NFC, Moto G30, Xiaomi Redmi 9, Nokia 5.4 and others.

I’ve tested all of these mobiles and you can see my unboxing and review videos right here on Tech Spurt.

A budget of just £200 will get you great handsets like the Poco X3 NFC and Redmi 9, which boast impressive display tech and speed – you can get gaming on PubG and other titles no worries. Of course, how well you’ll get on with these phones depends on your opinions of Xiaomi’s MiUI launcher.

If you’d rather have a stock Android experience, I like the Motorola Moto G30. This affordable smartphone has a simple 720p screen but does everything you need, with respectable camera results. And the Nokia 5.4 is also good in most departments, although can be quite quirky – and we’re still waiting on Android 11.

The Oppo A53 is another solid choice for anyone who’s skint. Again, the camera tech is decent for the price, while the battery life is brilliant – and all of the phones here offer NFC support, microSD expandability and headphone jacks.

I would like to point out that a ‘Bob’ is a shilling (5p) and not a pound!
So if the Oppo really is available for 130 Bob (£6.50), that would be fantastic!
However, this was a very useful video, thank you!

I like your honest straight shooting approach with some humour thrown in 👍 I am putting my trust in you to help me choose a smartphone. I would like to spend under £300 and I will never use it to play games or download videos, so those things are bottom of my list. I place more value on clear phone calls, good photos and family videos. I would like 128gb storage with option to expand. I use Skype, YouTube, emailing and WhatsApp, so just the basics. Can you help me choose a good smartphone please. ❤

Well that’s a rather underwhelming list due to multiple models of some companies but at least this guy’s sayings are quite funny

Can you please just stop recommending trash? A phone that isn’t? Only one I’ve found is the Moto E6 thus far.

I need to de-google my phone with /e/ or something, not all models are supported though….. 🙁

  21. Kidsonic Official on August 24, 2021 at 10:56 pm

I’d stay well clear of Samsung phones and even Huawei phones now due to the cost to fix the screens. For my P Smart Z it would cost me nearly as much as I paid for the thing (paid £179 and the screen was quoted at £150 to fix). My mum’s galaxy A40 was quoted at £90 for an aftermarket screen (and £140 directly from Samsung).

  22. Les French on August 24, 2021 at 10:59 pm

Great video’s but still can’t decide which one. My totally non tech elderly wife’s Huawei android 6 phone is playing up, it’s time for a new cheap mobile with android 10, so her banking app will work. Can you advice a simple to use mobile for her to use for Facebook, You Tube and Whatsapp.

  23. Izzy on August 24, 2021 at 11:00 pm

Jesus christ do you expect people to actually remember these models when tou speed through the fucking names of the phones and dont even add the title to the video?

  25. Maria Kihlström on August 24, 2021 at 11:06 pm

Which one has the best camera/photo capacity?

  26. Randy Lahey on August 24, 2021 at 11:06 pm

Nokia is best cause it’s not a commie phone, and has Zeiss lens.

  27. itsjustlewis on August 24, 2021 at 11:06 pm

Really good video, this. My Galaxy S20 FE 5G had a cracked screen which was quoted at £180 to fix but this has given me some good replacement options instead.

  28. Thomas Kolodziej on August 24, 2021 at 11:07 pm

    Video sucks

Getting ready for my 2nd Xiaomi phone, got the A2 3 years ago and have LOVED it (dropped it for the 50th time and finally cracked it real good).

I’ll never pay for an Apple or Samsung again. There’s just zero reason.

P.S. I live in the states and have TMobile, had a dropped call once in a blue moon but clear sailing other than that.

New to your channel and in loving the content. Brill reviews that are genuinely helpful, with substance and style lovingly matched.
Randomly: If Charlie Hunnam ever needed a voice over double, youd get the job in a heartbeat. 🙂

Anyone knows what’s the animation at 6:02-6:04? TIA

  34. Josbell_ on August 24, 2021 at 11:08 pm

I was thinking to get an iPhone Xs in 2021, for the same price, what would be more convenient from the Xiaomi side?

  35. ishibaro on August 24, 2021 at 11:09 pm

Do not take this comment wrongly. I liked the video, but having said this, I hate the on-screen (selfie) camera or the notch. It does not look good, it blocks some content, it is just a fad started by Apple, and to be honest, is useless. Is like buying a cellphone with a broken screen or a scratched screen. You know it’s there, I really do not know why we are still buying these….oh yes, right, it is a fad and almost no one is producing phones without this "feature". I think that some people even want the "feature" (in a budget phone) just to have the opportunity to experience this useless and horrible "feature"

  36. SpaghettiSexer on August 24, 2021 at 11:10 pm

Do any of these have fingers recognition

  37. Kesateria Matahari on August 24, 2021 at 11:10 pm

Xiaomi phone frequently updates my phone without my permission. And every now and then, I will get advertisement in notification for an app that I didn’t install.

  38. Reed's Redactions on August 24, 2021 at 11:10 pm

I would be great if they sold a phone without those stupid hole-punch cameras stuck in the screen. I miss bezels.

I love that none of you freaking smartphone channels specify the size of the gadgets **facepalm** Like, seriously, am I the only one who cares hof fucking big that smartphone is?

Seriously, I am the only one? Well, fuck you, then…

  43. ブブタン on August 24, 2021 at 11:16 pm

What? I didn’t understand anything you said. Why are phones blowing? Are they loud? What the fuck is this?

  44. Anthony Swinburn on August 24, 2021 at 11:16 pm

Is the poco x3 nfc still the one to go for out of this lot. Or a Motorola g9 plus?

  45. Dave Muckinboots on August 24, 2021 at 11:18 pm
