Please stop pretending that there is a way to reasonably compare discrete high end installs with this. Laughable. Yeah, sounds great, but no comparison.

I see this soundbar on sale for 750 and the Samsung Q950A for 1k. Is this soundbar worth it or should I go for the samsung? I like the big cinema like effect, listen to hard rock/metal and game

I have a Sony htc 260 and I love it, got it for $150, no issues for 8 years plus super music playback

My worry with soundbars if my living room is open concept rectangle which isnt ideal apposed to a perfect square a soundbar excels in.

  7. Shawn on January 13, 2022 at 5:44 pm

Which Vizio sound bar would you say is the best bang for the buck? My wife and I just purchased our first house and I’m looking to get the close to movie theatre quality as I can but stay under $700. Thanks!

  8. Ken Rury on January 13, 2022 at 5:47 pm

While I didn’t work for an audiophile magazine I had followed their advice to build a 7.1 entertainment room. I had become burned out with the complexity and dealing with a separate remote. No learning remote could do everything I needed.

I tried a soundbar out 10 years ago with a subwoofer and it was close enough if not exceeding my AVR system that I gave away my expensive system and kept the soundbar.

I’ve started to look at newer Atmos systems but there isn’t much Atmos content yet and what there is still sounds fine on my older Soundbar. I don’t watch movies as much as I used to so it’s less of a priority.

My goal was to upgrade my bedroom 10 year old Panasonic 55" plasma TV and Vizio soundbar to a LG C1 77" with a LG Atmos soundbar though Sony was tempting me with the HT-9.

With everything in my shopping cart I backed away and reconsidered whether it was worth the cost. After all my plasma TV has deep blacks, my soundbar has very clear voice audio and excellent surround so why replace it.

Don’t get caught up in the latest hype and sales frenzy. Consider what you are trying to accomplish and whether it is worth the expense. I could easily afford a new system, but why!

  9. Kelly Johnson on January 13, 2022 at 5:48 pm

How does it compare to 2 HomePods surround sound? I have one HomePod. Wondering if getting another to pair is better than the soundbar setup. Any experience hearing both setups?

  11. Ted O'Neill on January 13, 2022 at 5:50 pm

A lot of people give this system a hit and miss. But have these people forgot that one can change the sound settings? That’s what makes it all the more. Every room in one’s house is different for its acoustic.

  12. Dan Rauza on January 13, 2022 at 5:50 pm

I can’t believe it, I simply find myself watching your reviews daily, I need your expert advise please, As i’ll be spending lots of £ for a home theater, can you advise which one I should consider between
    1- Sony HT-A9
2- Bose soundbar 900 with subwoofer and rear speakers (bose told me there me new 900 module early next year)
3- Samsung Q950A (my TV is 2021 Oled 1 month old)
    4- LG SP1

Keep up the good work and why your co reviewer hiding off camera 🙂

    Hi
I have a lg cx 77 tv and I am going to buy a soundboard and I am wondering if I should buy lg’s soundboards either SN11RG or SN11RA. Or will Samsung’s new q950a work just as well? What would you recommend?

    Regards

  16. Luke on January 13, 2022 at 5:54 pm

Is there a high-end sound bar that can use 3rd party surround sound (or Atmos) speakers that are already in the ceiling? Also, your Amazon link for the LG SN11RG does not work.

  17. Matt Brown on January 13, 2022 at 5:55 pm

Hey man, I just found your channel and LOVE your videos. I love the handle you use of recovering audiophile also lol I’ve always called myself an audiophile at heart without the monetary means to actually be one haha

Anyway, I have the 2019 version of this (I think?) the SK10Y. Did you ever get a chance to check out that model? Do you have any input on that version compared to this model?

  18. Pratik Biswas on January 13, 2022 at 5:59 pm

Thank you for your quality content. I recently discovered your channel. Wish you all the best.

I bought LG 55UN8000 tv last year and now searching for soundbar with surround sounds. Also my tv has ARC port. I have budget of upto 700usd kindly suggest me one.
    Info:
We are more into music. I expect the soundbar to lift up our music listening experience to the next level.
Also we are subscribed to Amazon prime and Netflix and love watching their contents sometimes.

Room size is little larger than medium(living room)

    Tv size is 55"
Placement: wish to keep on the shelf.

Kindly help us finding a good soundbar.
    Thank you..

I use the Sonos soundbar (original) in my bedroom as a stand alone coupled with the Soundbird streamer.

  20. Wes' TECH on January 13, 2022 at 6:00 pm

Just bough this for my C10 PC gaming set up. We can adjust the tones and thing with the PC.

  21. Scott on January 13, 2022 at 6:00 pm

I bought the LG DSN8YG with subwoofer in combination with the LG OLED 55 inch CX. TV and soundbar + sub together gave a discount. I payed 1600 euros for all this together which is the price of the LG 65 inch OLED CX without any surround sound system (I’m dutch). I’m young and this is my first surround sound system. The difference between tv speaker and this soundbar plus sub is night and day. If you hold that F on top of the soundbar it starts playing an Atmos demo. The overhead thunder in that demo actually spooked me. 100% agree that AI optimization improves the sound. Even just turning this feature on for the tv speakers makes a huge difference. I would not suggest buying a company’s flagship surround bar since a soundbar’s price is one of its biggest advantages over a traditional surround sound system. Unless you care a lot about easy setup, which is a soundbar’s second biggest advantage imo. At the price of the soundbar in this video, I’d be tempted to just buy a traditional surround sound system.

  22. RADIN SYAH on January 13, 2022 at 6:02 pm

Interesting. I had to watch this video twice because another youtuber reviewed this with a bunch of other soundbars and the LG ended up dead last with a disappointing end note to boot. Why the polarity in opinion though, I wonder.

    Thanks

Would you consider doing a review on the Harman kardon citation bar?

  26. Jacky Lu on January 13, 2022 at 6:05 pm

would you rather spend money on this or a jamo based home theater system (809 fronts, 803 rears, 83 center) wth a SVS PB-1000?

  27. Jay Scott on January 13, 2022 at 6:06 pm

I’m strongly considering this system but I do plan to buy a ps5 eventually. If I plug the ps5 into this sound bar and use the EARC channel to connect to my LG cx tv will I still get 4k 120hz video to my tv?

  28. Carl Lewis on January 13, 2022 at 6:06 pm

    Very cinematic sound

  29. Rupinder Jakhar on January 13, 2022 at 6:12 pm

LG subwoofer disconnects a lot due to wifi interference, no way it is better than home theater or other high end soundbars like Sonos, Bose, Samsung. Seems like paid review

  30. Ronnie Løgager on January 13, 2022 at 6:12 pm

    Hi Andrew,
Great channel! I’ve stumbled across it as I’m scouting the marked for a soundbar to pair with my LG B9. Unfortunately the high end bars you’ve reviewed are a bit out of my price range and the Vizio is not something on the marked in my country. Do you have another "budget" recommendation?
Also! I have vaulted ceilings in my living room with acoustic panels to reduce noise levels. Is that something the AI can take into consideration when configuring that Atmos sound?
    Thanks!

I had a Samsung HW-Q700A and returned it for the LG SP8YA and the first thing I noticed was how easy and seamless the LG soundbar connected to my LG CX. It also allowed me to use the “pass through” setting on my TV so that I can use Dolby Atmos Home Theatre on my Xbox Series X (this was not possible with the Samsung and there was an major audio delay). I also prefer the classy look of the LG soundbar and it’s much easier to clean. Also the WIFI app is incredible and there are so many more features. The sound is pretty good too, so far so good! Undecided if I should get the rears.

  36. Dirk Mason on January 13, 2022 at 6:22 pm

Would soundbars be better with 2 subwoofers? I keep hearing 2 subwoofers are better than one. And if so, why don’t more come with two subwoofers? New to the channel and I really like the content and insight that you provide.

  41. Red King on January 13, 2022 at 6:28 pm

Are we calling $1500 surround systems soundbars now? lol it defeats the whole purpose of soundbars in the first place, which was being cheap and not taking up space.

  42. i_Lock_Alot on January 13, 2022 at 6:29 pm

I recently acquired the LG SN7R 5.1.2 and it’s by no means a top of the line soundbar w/atmos. But it is definitely a nice addition to a small room and for gaming. Especially when coupled with the LG C1 OLED!

    Thanks in advance!

  45. Thegameradam _ on January 13, 2022 at 6:33 pm

Answer is maybe convenience vs sound quality

  46. Jo Bess on January 13, 2022 at 6:35 pm

Thanks for the review! This system is on sale for $1299 and the Vizio Elevate is on sale for $699. I just bought a 77” LG C1 and would like to know which do you think would be best?

  47. Grzegorz Kalczuga on January 13, 2022 at 6:35 pm

Help please!! I am on finding my first and only home sound system. Room is irregular open rectangle 40m2. Decided already on risky step to go fully on soundbars. Now cannot decide between LGSN11RG vs Sonos Arc vs Senheiser AMBEO. The price matters somehow however I got budget to purchase even the most expensive one out of 3 (senheiser).

compared to samsung q950a what is better sound quality and surround sound?

  50. Abhishek Nayak on January 13, 2022 at 6:39 pm

I think all soundbars must ship with a remote that offers most of the functionality that the app offers. Also, the ability to physically wire them if needed. I want to keep the soundbar for 20 years. The app won’t work; the wifi won’t work. What do I do then? Keep buying soundbars every 5 years for $2000 every-time ? No way.
