I imagine some more will be announced at DEMA later this year, but for dive computers available on the shelves this year, let’s take a look at some new dive computers for 2021, and a few of our favourites.

  2. Ali Vlogs on January 25, 2022 at 4:50 pm

Hi any idea about the garmin mk3

  3. Paul Dawson on January 25, 2022 at 4:50 pm

    What, no Garmin?

  4. Jeff Mortell on January 25, 2022 at 4:51 pm

Garmin Descent MK2i – My recreational hobbies go beyond just diving and so does the Descent. It’s basically a Garmin Fenix 6 with awesome dive modes added. It also uses sonar for it’s AI which gives it a range of 40ft. Allows you to pair it with multiple AI modules. Let’s say, your kids are just getting into diving and you want to be able to monitor their gas along with yours. A radio frequency AI module would give you maybe 4 ft. The sonar extends that range significantly and allow you to monitor them as well.

How on earth can you do this review without mentioning Garmin’s MK2 series??? While the models you mention are contenders, Garmin’s decimates them! Make it seem as if you are being political 🤔

  6. FaddaWolf on January 25, 2022 at 4:53 pm

what does no one like that mares genius?

  7. Hellrazor on January 25, 2022 at 4:54 pm

I own a Peregrine. Great DC. I upgraded from a Mares puck. Which is OK, DOES EVERYTHING, but u cant beat the screen, vibration, size, blutooth, battery of the Peregrine.

Is there a cat in the office? I see furs on your shirt.

    where is Garmin MK2S ??

  11. Stafford King on January 25, 2022 at 5:06 pm

    Really… you been bought?
Ok you throw out the Terik as the best out there… sure good computer… but best … well it’s got a lot of work to catch Garmin. Garminn has everything the Terik has and then
    GPS… CRAZY!!!!
    Heart rate monitor.
And then it has …. let’s see
    Apnea
    Yoga
Sky Diving …. Ya that’s right
    it has tide charts
    Run
    Bike
    Golf
    Hike
    Pool swim mode
    Kayak
    Breathwork training
    Strength training
triathlon …. well that won’t get much work from me lol
    Ski
    cardio training
    and my favorite Tactical.

I love shearwater… but like most things it has run it time.

There is nothing on the market even close to the Garmin MK2i
i own a dive shop and got it about 2 months ago and am just over 100 dives on it.
Two complaints. The AI makes noise… allot of noise it screams … i will contact them to find out of that can be changed. and i can’t make the compass bigger.

Thanks for this great information. The first Aqualung link is broken… Takes you to all Aqualung products rather than just the dive computer you mention.

  13. Po on January 25, 2022 at 5:10 pm

    Garmin MK2i

  14. Abbad Abduljawad on January 25, 2022 at 5:14 pm

    Where is the garmin mk2i

  15. BazzyTX on January 25, 2022 at 5:15 pm

It doesn’t get better than the Peregrine for Rec diving. Though I will always have a special place in my heart for my Cressi Leonardo. The Leonardo was my first computer after I passed the " I ain’t trusting my life to no computer! I’ll stick with tables and a watch!" phase. 😆

  16. Felipe Mejia on January 25, 2022 at 5:17 pm

Can’t beat the Aqua Lung i330R or the Shearwater Peregrine if you are going for budget.

  17. Robert Ornelas on January 25, 2022 at 5:23 pm

Call me old school but all you need for a 30 feet dive is a watch, a depth meter and your tables ?

I mean just do your 3 minute deco stop at 10 feet for 3 to 5 minutes .

  18. Pelle Lidell on January 25, 2022 at 5:23 pm

I love my Suunto Eon Core – a superb dc equipped with everything I could possibly need as rec diver. Easy to navigate, great color screen and great design. Quick battery charge time – then good for 14 hours of diving. It’s served me flawlessly for 2 1/2 years.

  19. Tim Verkoyen on January 25, 2022 at 5:24 pm

I own the Suunto EON core and the Garmin Descent Mk2i. Happy with both of them.

  20. Wayne Sitarz on January 25, 2022 at 5:24 pm

Suunto Companion since about 1995 (on second battery). Picked up a Tusa Imprex (same thing) as a backup. Basic computer. It does the job and lasts. I have thousands of dives in 30 years. I’d get a Suunto Zoop if I wanted a newer model.

  21. Charles Markel on January 25, 2022 at 5:24 pm

Do any of these use deco stops and safety stops in their total ascent time calculations?

  22. weedywet on January 25, 2022 at 5:25 pm

    no Suunto?

  23. Michal M on January 25, 2022 at 5:26 pm

    Btw, great video (as always!)

  26. Death2PC on January 25, 2022 at 5:29 pm

    Best computer……? None, ever. They’re a crutch.

  27. John P. on January 25, 2022 at 5:32 pm

I was looking at the Aqualung i550c air integrated with compass…. Any thoughts?

  28. Mostafa El-Damaty on January 25, 2022 at 5:34 pm

Garmin mk2i descent deserves a mention

  29. Roberto Gonzalez Lages on January 25, 2022 at 5:35 pm

  30. Larry Holder on January 25, 2022 at 5:36 pm

I’m good with the i200c for now, but will share this vid with persons who I know need to invest in their own computer.

  31. codyyim1 on January 25, 2022 at 5:37 pm

I just got a peregrine as my first computer, and have been loving it! The screen is easy to read and extremely beautiful!

  35. Steven Sanford on January 25, 2022 at 5:42 pm

I love my Perdix AI for my recreational and technical diving needs!

  36. Peter Draper on January 25, 2022 at 5:42 pm

Interesting that there’s no mention of Suunto.

  37. Michael Waegemans on January 25, 2022 at 5:43 pm
