I bought this receiver 3 weeks ago I’ve paired it up with my monitor audio mr1 speakers and it sounds amazing!!! I don’t care about the spring loaded speaker terminals or the fm terminal it’s well built and sounds really good I paid £179 on amazon for mine people just need to realise it’s really good value Sony has put there efforts in sound quality and not in pointless features!
I bought this piece of junk and regretted it as soon as I hooked it up. It sounds horrible! Not even close to 100 watt and it sounds like it’s wearing a Covid 19 mask.
I have one, I like the functionality
But oddly enough my youngest cat out of 3 bolts the second it plays at any volume.
I think there’s some high pitch tone in it i can’t nor my 2 older cats can’t hear…
Can you hook up. Big speakers to it ? I did because I got it 2 years ago .
Can you do a review on the Yamaha R-S202D ? Its around the price of that sony! Thanks

How would it be against one like this cause I have one like this and I was looking at upgrading to the str 190 would it be better?
Hi! You have me interested in picking this up. I have been using Bose computer speakers and really want to upgrade. Are there any speakers in the <$150 price range that you would recommend for use with this receiver?
Will 12 gauge speaker wire fit?

Any experience with the Yamaha r-s202? If so, how does that receiver compare to this Sony?
Can you recommend some of the Amazon amplifiers
I bought the Sony STR-DH190 Stereo Receiver And Polk RTI A1 Speakers from Amazon Dec. 31 2019. The receiver is going through my Yamaha MG 10XU mixer. The Mixer is the main connection hub for my Desktop the MG 10 has a dac built in works great I also use FX sound software to boost the EQ.
I bought one to power my Bose 901s and Bose 301s. It sounds incredible! However I do want to buy a vintage receiver. Any recommendation for one that will make my Bose sound their best?
What do you think this would sound like with Elac Debut 6.2 for listening to classical music. I am using a Yamaha stereo receiver now.
Does it work well with the Triangle br03?
I also watched your rant if you’re getting this message it was absolutely awesome, how can I hook this stereo receiver up to an HDMI Blu-ray player and TV?
Can you pair a subwoofer on this?
What is price in Pakistan Lahore
why doesn’t anyone talks about the bluetooth in this receiver? how does it work or sound? Would it be better to connect a BluDanto BLT-HD up to the receiver because of the DAC in it?
I hate new audio receivers only because I have no clue how to deal with all of the features and setup procedures not to mention price. This is right up my 54 year old alley. Wish it had a sub output but that just gives me an excuse to buy some big ass speakers 😆
Like I posted on Andrew’s page, I’ll post here, who buys this junk? $150 goes so much further on Craigslist for used high end units that people abandon after just a few years. Everyone wants a 4k audio unit today, and dump the "obsolete" $1000-1600 receivers right now. I have picked up fantastic units for $100-145 each, that do far more than this Sony junk can dream of that will last decades. Why throw away money on entry level equipment when pretentious asses give away amazing equipment for next to nothing simply because it’s lightly used and doesn’t make cocktails and peel shrimp? Search your local ads, and forget Amazon in this price range. True bargains to be had, 7.1 with sub, 3 zones, HDMI, optical, 135 watt rms, etc etc etc from Onkyo and Yamaha, not Sony. I use Sony equipment to keep my front door open to let in a breeze.
Thank you so much. I just bought one yesterday, and was worried I should have gone for a fancier one. However…I love how it sounds!!
What would your thoughts be on using this stereo receiver as an amplifier for other AV receivers that have additional channels of processing but no amplification? For example, I’m looking to get a Denon 3700h, which has 11 channels of processing but only 9 channels of amplification. So I need to add additional amplification for 2 more channels. Given the competitive price point of this Sony, I was considering pairing this with the 3700h. Let me know your thoughts. Thanks.
Hint for filming yourself on the GH5 – set the mode to “touch to focus” not autofocus. Then use your phone to focus remotely o your eyes
Remove the bluetooth connection and this isn’t any different that what Sony, Pioneer, Kenwwood has been making for the past 30 plus years. I still have two of them. I’m not surprised that hi-fi reviewers over look products at this price point and are then surprised when trying one. Its a gradual process that takes place within many things. Take fishing for example, not many people start out with a rod/reel combo of $500-1000, I didn’t but I did end up with a couple with a several hundred dollar price tag. I appreciate all the videos you and other h-fi reviewers put out and would like to see more in the low end realm even though I’m not in the market.
https://amzn.to/3qLcv41 Yep. That’s an affiliate link to the Sony receiver. So… REAL TALK (PLEASE READ): I don’t really care if you buy the Sony or not. I’m posting up this affiliate link because I signed up for the Amazon Partner program back in August and if I don’t use it this month, I’ll lose it forever. This isn’t about money. This is about keeping an option open for the future. So go ahead.. use the link to buy a toothbrush or restock on some kitchen supplies for all I care! I just need some people to use this link and then I’ll be good to go and will remove this post. THANKS!!!
I have the STR-DH550. I only bought it because I needed 2 sub outputs and this was the only receiver that I could find at the time that was 5.2 and didn’t cost a lot. Even though I really like it, I would have never thought that Sony STR-DH lineup would be as good as it is. I think I really got lucky when I bought it.
I own one it fine for what I use it for. I am running it with klipsch r 41m with a polk sub
Nice review. Can you please do a review about Rotel a11 tribute.
Still liking this unit a few weeks later with my Harbeth P3ESR’s. A nice convenient receiver esp w/remote at the desktop.
Thx for the review Sean! Straight and to the point!
Cheers,TS
I must say this receiver sounds great paired with my vintage EPI 100V speakers
I like it so much I ended up buying 2 (for the living room and basement). Only minor complaint is the sound is a little flat depending on the source, but its hands down one of the best receivers at this price point.
does anyone have a subwoofer hooked to one of these? How and what type?
I have this receiver paired with the Klipsch RP-600M looking to upgrade to a 2.1 setup. While it is great I want to add a sub. Any recommendations?
Could this reciever be used to connect to my sony X950H? I don’t watch blue rays or anything on it just stream netflix.
I have a pair of sony SS-MF415 tower speakers that are rated at 8 OHMS with a max input power of 200w
If anyone could help me out with this that would be greatly appreciated!
A rookie in the stereo world. Is there any advantage or harm using this receiver with a Kenwood M1 and C1 amp and preamp. I have them already but what would you advise use with or not
This receiver is Auto Volt 220/110 VAC?
Hi,
And what about the Sherwood rx 4508 ?
Any suggestions ?
Thanks.
I would buy this receiver and a second over some crap mini amp that will burn out in a month, or even the PS audio Sprout which is quality but is also 600 bucks.
Garbage
Amazing review! Thanks you. One question: I watch always your videos and I have a question: can I get a hifi sound if I connect this to klipsch r51m?
Bought for 111.00 going to pair with nht 3.1, nht is verry detailed we’ll see….
I have one of these guys in my man cave at my summer house. I bought it open box for $100. I used it for my main system for a while. I upgraded to An Emotiva that is much better. This guy, however, is great. It has a nice remote, it gets nice and loud. Its soundstage isn’t all that great, but what do you want for $100. I’d recommend this as a nice receiver for someone who is just getting into vinyl. Some nice features. It turns off by itself when no output. It turns on automatically when you pair with your phone. It has a phono stage!
My daughter has a 10 year old 60” Sharp Aqous tTV in her room. I bought her the Sony STRDH190190. She loves it with her Sony tower speakers. She asked me to hook it up to her TV or PlayStation for stereo sound while gaming or watching movies with her friends. The TV doesn’t have the 2 RCA jacks just the video 1 and video 2 which won’t work. The TV & PlayStation has an optical out. Can I use an optical out to analog converter to make this work? Thanks for any help. I only have a week left to go to Best Buy and exchange it for one that will work.
I’d like to see how this one compares to the Yamaha A-S201. About the same price and the Yamaha has better speaker connection.
Excellent review.
Hope that there could be more of these poor man’s gears in this channel
Hello..I can conect four speaker, two of 6 ohm y the other two of 8ohm. Thank you
Can you do a vid on hooking up a equalizer to this receiver?
so would the Sony ss-cs55 bookshelf speakers in a small room?
