SanDisk iXpand Flash Drive Go for iPhone and iPad – DEMO & REVIEW

SanDisk iXpand Flash Drive Go for iPhone and iPad – DEMO & REVIEW

iCloud is a great way to mirror the contents of your Apple iPhone or iPad, but what happens when your device starts to fill up? For that matter, what if you want to share multi-gigabyte files between your iOS device and your Mac or Windows computer? In both cases, the SanDisk iXpand Flash Drive Go is a fantastic solution with its dual USB-3.0 and Lightning connectors. You can back up everything from your iPad or iPhone and share it with friends. You can even copy movies onto the drive and watch them on your iPad without needing to copy the files onto the device!

But there are some things you’ll want to know about before you make a purchase decision, even for a product at this low price point. Tech expert Dave Taylor of https://www.AskDaveTaylor.com/ runs through a variety of demos, showing how photo backup to the SanDisk iXpand Flash Drive Go works, and then showing on a MacOS X system how everything’s easily accessible.

You can setup the Sandisk Connect Wireless EOL flash drive as a Plex like Web Server. Accessing its videos/audio file links on a Public website which are shareable by anyone on the same wifi. Can anything similar be done with this version? I just posted how I used the Sandisk Connect Wireless.

Well, I have 11.219 photos and 2.253 videos on my phone right now… If 300 photos takes long, this is gonna take a looooong time😂😂😂
Maybe I should just buy and leave it copying for 3 days…🤭🤣

Edit: read my answer to this comment too!!!😄

Hello Dave, thanks for this review video but there is some questions i want to ask and i would be glad if you answer. I’m using iPhone 8 Plus and whenever i try to copy or move videos i shot to pc, an error appears as "System didn’t regocnize device" and this happens when half of the file proccesed. This would be great to copy files from 8 Plus to pc right? Because i’ve shot and 4K 60fps video with 12 min length and I really need that video file. And files name are different, is it because files moved to flash drive and can I change it to original name? Like IMG_0001.jpg?

  15. Dr GH on July 26, 2021 at 9:16 pm

    Dave,
    Great video presentation!
I have a few questions. If my iphone battery runs out during the photo back up process (there are 3200 photos and 50 short family videos) should I recharge my phone and then continue with back up or down load the photos already backed up to my tablet and then continue with back up? Will my tablet recognize where the backup left off and continue with the rest of the down load or will the entire file of photos be downloaded again from the beginning? Final question, can the entire content of the flash drive be deleted and start over if needed?
    Thanks,
    John

    It work with iPhone 11

  33. Monsieur P. on July 26, 2021 at 9:38 pm

I bought a 128 GB Hoo Too, and it’s SO MUCH faster to move files around from within the iPadOS’s Files application, using the Lightning to USB 3 camera adapter (which is so very inelegant for Apple), than using the “iPlugmate” complementary file management application which also only allows you to move a single file at a time which is stupid since anyone who buys these drives is almost always going to be working with dozens and scores of files at a time…

  34. To Ja on July 26, 2021 at 9:39 pm

Very well described. Awesome presentation. Cheers!

  39. Fabio Marques on July 26, 2021 at 9:44 pm

Does anyone know i just bought this device but keep showing in the app that is not connected how can i fix that

  40. grannydee m on July 26, 2021 at 9:46 pm

I have a question. Do you have to download the app in the apps store to use this device? It sounds like you do. A few reviews said they ended up with adds and spyware from the app. Did you you find that to be the case? I purchased a different brand through Amazon that had good reviews only to get it and find out it was from a developer in Beijing China. There was an app required to use the device and there was a security warning from apple in the app. description.

Got mine today & it backed up 54GB of photos & videos in less than a hour. Love this tiny device! 🙂

  42. Teresa D. Lee on July 26, 2021 at 9:49 pm

Thank the you for your informative video. I liked the feature description and mention that you can record video straight to the ixpand drive. I watched this because I was looking for a comparison between this drive and the other Sandisk ixpand drive that doesn’t have an adapter and looks like a straight stick. I wonder which is older, if there is a different version of USB, if the menu to manage features is the same, and what the switch looking indentation on the side is. There’s also a curved designed one that seems to stack the lightning connector on top of the usb connector and I wonder if it is as tedious and uncomfortable as it looks to me?

Dave, I loved the idea of this but when I plug it into my Mac all I see in the finder window of camera roll backup are the file folders. No content in them. Suggestions?
