Oster Electric Wine Opener Review

Hi Guys, today I’m reviewing the Oster Electric Wine Opener.

It comes with a charging stand, plug, cordless wine opener and a foil cutter tool.
Before your first use, Oster recommends charging the opener for eight hours. Oster also states that a full charge is good for opening 30 bottles of wine. No, I will not be opening 30 bottles to prove that claim! To charge it, plug the adapter cord into the base and plug it into a socket. Put the opener into the base.

The opener is sleek and stylish. The design is simple with just one button. Pushing the lower part removes the cork from the bottle and pushing the upper part releases the cork from the opener. I’ve got a nice bottle of red wine to open. Take the foil cutter and place it on the top of the bottle. Turn the bottle and remove the foil. I usually use my nails or a knife so this is much easier. Put the Opener on top of the bottle straight, don’t hold the opener at an angle to the bottle. Press the lower part of the switch. The opener stops when the cork is removed from the bottle. Press the upper part of the button to release the cork. When you use a manual corkscrew, sometimes pieces of cork may break and end up in your wine. The manual openers have gotten better over the years but they still require physical effort. The Oster requires none and is great for people with arthritis or any kind of weakness in their hands. It’s just quick and effortless. It’s affordable and also makes a useful gift for anyone that drinks wine.

So it leaves cork in your wine and you still need to pull the cork out. What’s the point?

The foil cutter is the only thing about this tat works consistently. Drives cork into the wine everytime (almost) and rarely pulls thecork out. Ban investment.

I really like my Oster 4279-033 wine opener, but the battery will no longer charge. Can I buy a replacement battery and replace it myself?

  13. Marlene Prall on October 12, 2020 at 3:53 pm

How do you know when charged? does red light go out or turn green?

  14. Fink's Garage on October 12, 2020 at 3:54 pm

Good utube…shame as just purchased yesterday at Lowes. Used after 5 hrs of charging, worked well to remove cork, however the upper button is not working; can’t get cork out of unit. Rene

  20. abf express on October 12, 2020 at 4:02 pm

Why is the black part on the back of this thing sticky. I washed it, and it is still sticky.

  21. Đặng Ngọc on October 12, 2020 at 4:04 pm

Horrible Product. At best, it leaves a small hole in the cork. At worst, nothing happens.

  22. Serasia on October 12, 2020 at 4:06 pm

Found one of these outside the room to the Sunday School at church. People leave us the most random stuff.

Very beautiful design but when I heard that cheap toy sound made me want to return mine. Also the feeling is not luxurious, it is light and the silver you see is paint on plastic.

  26. Javier Solis on October 12, 2020 at 4:10 pm

Thanks, it was really useful, I just bought one 🙂

  27. Elias Escobar on October 12, 2020 at 4:12 pm

    Wonderful review!

  28. Artist2251 on October 12, 2020 at 4:14 pm

You skip pulling it out, that might help to see that

  29. Ebone Cardenas on October 12, 2020 at 4:15 pm

Oh so your not suppose to pull it out after you get it down ??

  30. Maynard Rothchild on October 12, 2020 at 4:17 pm

That is ridiculous. There are tons of manual openers that are easier and faster.

  31. Alex Stavi on October 12, 2020 at 4:18 pm

i’m seeking of something good, besides a regular corkopener, but now i realise that the perfect one is just the usual one

  32. gwheyduke on October 12, 2020 at 4:19 pm

No one tells how to tell if the unit is fully charged ! What does the light on the top mean as opposed to the red light on the charger base?

  33. Kelly Ewin on October 12, 2020 at 4:20 pm

Holy moly I feel like an idiot! I’ve had mine for a year and couldn’t figure out what I was doing wrong with it! The cork would never budge! Turns out what I was doing wrong was not letting the screw go all the way through the cork! Success after watching the video. I’m an idiot. We live and learn I guess 😛

  34. Ryan Lee on October 12, 2020 at 4:21 pm

Nice review, but a manual rabbit opener does the job in 2 seconds. Less prone of parts failing such as motor, button or battery.

  35. kiyonexus on October 12, 2020 at 4:21 pm

I hate this thing. I open tons of wine with this thing and 90% of the time, I get pieces of cork fall inside the bottle… I HATE IT!!! I know right away the pieces of cork is going to fall in because when you jam that thing in, it’s VERY difficult to keep it perfectly straight without it twisting in some weird angle.

  36. Heidi Bean on October 12, 2020 at 4:23 pm

I think the trick is to have one hand hold the bottle firmly, use the other hand to align the Oster perfectly straight, and hold firmly while pressing button.
