Today we did our shop With Me Lowes over at the local Lowes near me searching for Lowes appliances discounts, and to expose what we think might be a Lowe’s bait and switch appliance scam. This past Tuesday I brought my friend’s family into Lowe’s to take advantage of the Lowe’s President’s Day Appliance Sale, in which appliances were allegedly up to 40% off, they don’t have much money, they are of meager means but were trying to help out and buy Lowe’s appliances for their son who is getting married next month, practically destitute, and I even brokered the deal that got them into this duplex which I was helping my friend remodel.
Appliance scams? Alleged Bait and switch advertising on Lowes appliances?
We saw on Lowes.com web site the appliance deals for a Samsung Appliance Suite during this sale which my friends liked, because it had Lowe’s appliance deal lowest price of $899 on the side by side refrigerator. This was Item # 712177 Model # RS25J500DSR Samsung 24.52-cu ft Side-by-Side Refrigerator with Ice Maker (Stainless Steel), and it was easily found because it has the HUGE appliance suite discount price President’s Day signs on it on the floor in the Lowe’s Appliances area, $899.00 (was $1,299.00) Save 30% ending 2/26. We though they would be saving $400 off a new fridge. Not so fast… appliance scam in progress.
Then the Lowe’s appliance sales guy lowered the boom on us, the Lowes appliance sales associate said the aforementioned Samsung fridge appliance deal was not in stock, so we can’t get delivery this week. OK, when? He searched for other stores, no store has it in stock anywhere, people have been on waiting lists for this fridge for 2 months, then he said it’s a discontinued SKU#. So why does a discontinued SKU for a Samsung appliance show up on the web site as a major appliance Suite discount from Lowe’s when they know they have no refrigerators of this SKU in stock? We were fuming mad and several people we told this story to all said the same thing: Bait and Switch!
I told the Lowe’s appliances sales guy they need to remove the bogus Lowe’s appliance scam price tags off Samsung side by side fridge since no one can actually take advantage of this non-existant sales price on a non-existent appliance.
This lowes appliances discount is no discount at all during the Lowes appliance scams event, LOL. Of course here we are in today’s live stream and first thing I showed you in this video is those signs are still there on that Samsung refrigerator, 4 days later, even through these Lowe’s appliance sales guys all know that fridge is discontinued and was never available for purchase during this Lowe’s appliance discount sale from the get go. why don’t they take the false advertising signs down? Whose running the ship over there at our local Lowe’s near me?
So since my friends needed appliances in 2 days for their son and wife to be who have no money and no appliances right now in dire straits, we ended up buying a Whirlpool Suite during the Lowe’s appliance sale event there, but my friends ended up paying $2400, not the original $1899 they planned on paying when we walked in, because gee, the advertised item was not available. The Whirpool Suite was in stock and ready to deliver in 2 days.
The lowes appliance delivery guys were the best as usual, showing up on time the agreed upon day. I recognize them, as they have delivered many appliances to several of my foreclosure property flips over the years, they are great guys, and fast. I usually do all my own installs, the lowes appliance delivery guys just wheel it into the living room. lowes appliance delivery days are among my favorite milestone days during my property flips. It means we’re rounding third base and heading for home. After I got online to Lowes.com and chatted with a rep, Lowe’s eventually changed the status on the web site as “Currently Unavailable”, but the store as you saw in today’s video still has the signs up on the non-existent Samsung fridge.
Lowe’s was slashing prices on Craftsman Tools, and DeWalt and Kobalt discount tools, as well as the lowes clearance sales prices on the back aisle. Most of the Crafstman tool discounts were the same as they have been recently, but we showed you another pair of Lufkin Tape measures for $24.99, (I paid $15.99 for them last week during our previous live stream which was half the price of the Holiday season in the lowe’s home improvement sale.)
There were Kobalt Discounts 2020 during this lowes shopping tour. We added this to our lowes haul during this lowes shop with me. We ended up with a good Lowe’s tool haul today, snapping up several utility knofe tools to do a tool review video on.

We still scored quite the lowes tool haul of tool discounts from the lowes clearance sales. We looked at the Craftsman tool chests that were reduced in price.
I would of walked out and gone to The Orange Store. They price match.

The same thing happened to me with a Whirlpool model! They said they could get it, but it would be delayed by a month, then I was told it was discontinued and had none left, this was during their Black Friday event. I had already paid for it along with a dishwasher and microwave. After going to a few other stores, I found out it wasn’t discontinued. I contacted their corporate office and discussed my whole ordeal. They did end up finding my refrigerator! Delivery didn’t go well, they dented my drywall and the refrigerator door. They came back out to replace the door, WITH THE DOOR OFF OF THE FLOOR MODEL! Called corporate again and demanded another new refrigerator! Miraculously they found another fridge.
Reminds me about the Lady the lady Shopping for Chickens at the butcher….He Was Asking .79c Per Pound and The Lady told him the Butcher down the Street was Selling Chickens for .59c Per Pound…And the Butcher Told the Woman to Go Down the Street and Buy the Chickens from the other butcher….And She Said she Would, But the Butcher down the Street didn’t Have any Chickens…LOL,,,,if you don’t Have any you Can mark your item Way Down and Make the other Guy look like he is Taking Advantage of you !…oldest Game in the book !
Just be glad you didn’t get the Samsung, they are not reliable and a lot of repairmen will not work on them. Whirlpool is much better.
Why didn’t you just get the floor model and geta discount on top of the sale price?

Craftsman makes magnets that go in the sockets, pick up some mid depth or deep sockets and put the magnets in. It works awesome.
Why is it all you tool guy youtubers dont do videos on the tradeup and trade in programs from dewalt and Milwaukee for tool deals??????

Lots of reasons appliance is on the ad. Samsung is probably changing the model and they need to get out company wide to make room for new model, or they have a lot in stock in other areas of the country. Those ads are not local, they are regional. North, south and west. And alot of times vendors pay stores for floor space. So if Samsung comes in and there is an LG sitting where Samsung should be, they can back out of contracts, etc. Also all those clearance appliances are sold As is have been returned and sent out for repair and are now for sale. Watch the labels on those. Oh and On the price labels that say clearance….if there is the "n" underneath the barcode, that stands for "nonstock" which means that the item is not an item they are going to carry in stock. You usually can get those for cheap Because they are taking up shelf space that’s not planned for.
two years ago I had the same problem with lowes I purchased a fridg. and when they brought it to the front of the store the serial numbers did not match
the internet add, the store personal tried to convince me that it was the same unit even though it was not, I raiser hell, I purchased it with a bank card that automatically withdrew the funds from my account, they then refused to reimburse my money and that it would take #30 days to put the funds back into my account, my verbal anger got much louder, they threatened to call the police I told then to go ahead, I said go ahead so I could file criminal charges against them , I had the advertisement on my phone a tablet with all the information written down and the sale’s receipt, they backed down and only then did they go and find the fridg. that I purchased I also recived $50.00 cash off the price that I had already paid, the hell and bull shit
they put me through was not worth the $50.00 I have never gone back to lowes and never will.
To get rid of stock, while supplies last. Read the fine print.
I purchased an oven today and then I got an email a few hours later stating that my order has been CANCELED! What a bunch of shakes! They advertise merchandise that they don’t have the capability to supply. #LOWESBLOWS
I dislike craftsman even when Sears.
They’re available at certain stores. Available in Georgia. all the items in the ad are the same across all of Lowe’s and not all Lowe’s carries the same exact product with multiple in stock. Distribution problem during high demand. Some distribution centers are taking longer to get product in. Best to check with your local Lowe’s or any store for that matter on the website before going to the store and wanting what’s advertised. Maybe one item in the whole ad will be that way per location. Same anywhere. Walmart has advertised while supplies last things and it may not be in stock due to distribution problems.

Hi Jeff – I’ve noticed the same issue with the 10% coupons, especially after the holidays. They ring up as $0 off promo. The $20 off $100 coupons haven’t work now either. I think Lowes is catching on. Fortunately, quikcoupons.com refunded me the cost of the coupons.
Thanks for your efforts Jeff. I have been buying regularly from Lowe’s for about 20 years now. I flip homes, have rentals, and am a RE agent also. I have been loyal to them for the most part but have recently been going a lot to both Menards and Home Depot. It seems to me that Lowe’s very rarely puts things on sale for real. They inflate the regular price sometimes and then take 10-25% off as if it is on sale and then lure people in with a deceiving ad and what you find is that oftentimes it is actually the standard retail price. The "sale" is really a sham. Are they any different than the other big box stores? They seem to do this more often than the others in my opinion, but I know you are more of an expert on this than I am. I would like to hear your thoughts on this. The only real deal I saw on your video the other day was the stackable washer and dryer that was regularly advertised at $1399 and had them marked down to $700. That is a "real sale" and good deal. I could not find that at our local Lowe’s store here. But both Lowes and Home Depot sell that combo stackable unit for around $1099. That was the price at both places yesterday. Today it is different. If you need something in a pinch I guess you pay whatever the soup of the day is but if you are not in a hurry you can get educated on what they will take – so it’s a big game. Of course you are a good player in that game and most people do not have time to play games. Lastly, it appears to me that the quality of appliances has gone down dramatically over the past several years and have found that is true regardless of price point. THX!
Pellet Smokers are fine. Just pay attention to the pellets. There are plenty out there that are just pressed. Watch out for pellets with bark in them, they plug up your unit.
Thanks for the report and you are not mistaken that that is a scam. The one thing you did not mention is that there is actually a defect with Samsung refrigerators because I own that exact model. The big problem is the ice maker. They simply break down and have all kinds of issues even if you replace them. All you have to do is punch Samsung ice maker on the internet and you will see everybody telling you to stay away from it. otherwise it seems to be a decent refrigerator but there is some manufacturer’s defect when it comes to the ice maker. I have had to actually buy a separate ice maker that sits on my countertop in order to get ice it is truly a pain in the butt
For anyone who sees this, this isn’t a “bait and switch” I work at Lowe’s and in the appliance department and know that this fridge/package was not in fact “discontinued”. They didn’t have any at there store or in there “dc” distribution center. So instead they told him they didn’t have any. The workers were miss informed/lazy. We are provided with a number in case we don’t have any in store or at our DC were we could talk to a representative and they can tell us a rough estimate when we could get a appliance.
I see that all the time when I check their deal of the day where they may show 30 items on sale, none of them are available in store, and only maybe 2-5 of them are available for shipping…

I found out the hard way, that lowes won’t take the 10%off coupons for sale appliances. They will give you 5%off if you have a military discount though
Ask to buy the floor model at a reduced price. If it’s no longer available them they need to take those floor models to the back.
Your better off with whirlpool anyways. Samsung appliances are bottom of the barrel along with GE appliances.
When it comes to dw’s, go with Kitchen Aid or Bosch. You’ll thank me later. Installed appliances for 3 years. Bosch and Kitchen are the best. If I had to choose between Bosch and Kitchen Aid, I would go with Bosch. The quality is next to nothing. Easy to install, easy to level and quiet at 64 dec.
Presidents day , isnt it Prime Ministers day , i thought USA had a Prime Minister. Also i mean this in a friendly way but you should of taken your business elsewhere , when you give them business despite this bad behavior you are encouraging this bad behavior.
Hey actually they probably came out ahead after my 3 failed Samsung appliances. My maytag and whirlpool u.s. going strong as is my inlaws and neighbors… I bet the Samsung was to clear out warehouses and done across the u.s.

Same issue up here in Pennsylvania we saw a closeout deal a Samsung microwave online for a good price new years sale we went to the store and saw the display model we told the salesperson we want to buy this microwave, none in their store and none in the network of Lowe’s then why is it advertised online and in store display. I wanted to buy the display model give me a deal, the sales person said you don’t want to buy the display model you just don’t. who knows what Lowe’s Did with it. Got us into the store they sure did .
Be careful with spyder at lowes some is german or swiss and good. But most is Chinese and is horrible fart grade… I mean terrible quality. Also forget tariffs 2/3rds of china is shut down right now I expect shortages and higher cost especially electronics and meds. And kobalt drill bits are terrible buy some cle-line and be happy.
I Don’t like Lowe’s cuz the return policies are I think you’re going out of business because of the fact they’re ripoff I won’t never buy nothing from LOLs I want to go home Depot.

Looks like pretty normal sales to me. Many stores, when an item is discontinued will put it on sale to get the remaining few out the door quickly and not have them linger as many buyer only want the newest, latest and greatest version and the old model just sits.
Jeff my step son just had that happen just before Christmas. I was with him because being a veteran family members get my discount. He was looking at a samsung too and they couldn’t bring it up, the manager tried and it said not available. This was up in Fargo, so lowes is doing this with another Samsung?
