iPhone SE (2020) Review | Four Months Later

Reviewing Apple’s iPhone SE 2020, four months after the original release, to see if this ‘value’ smartphone is a viable alternative to mid-range Androids. The likes of the Pixel 4A, OnePlus Nord and Moto G 5G Plus sadly outshine the iPhone SE in many ways, from camera performance to media chops and battery life. Here’s my real life experience with Apple’s ‘budget’ mobile, let me know yours below.

You can grab this phone from £419 SIM free or £39 on contract from Vodafone here in the UK:
www.vodafone.co.uk/mobile/phones/pay-monthly-contracts/apple/iphone-se-2020

To list the pros of this blower, I like the compact finish, and elements of the design. The display is too tiny for watching movies but visuals are crisp and colourful, while the stereo speakers impress. And with Apple’s A13 chipset on board, the iPhone SE 2020 is great for gaming.

However, the single lens camera is a relic, offering poor quality photos in less than good conditions. HDR snaps and night shots in particular are rubbish. Battery life is another big problem, as I rarely made it to bed without prematurely topping up that tiny cell.

I’m not a huge fan of iOS despite its many redeeming qualities, especially as iOS 13 seems more buggy than ever. Plus, there’s no headphone jack, no 90Hz refresh rate, no 5G support…

That’s my review of the iPhone SE 2020, but let me know your own thoughts down below!

Yeah, but those Android devices are Android devices. Apps are just better for iPhone. I’m saying this as an Android user!

If anything, I rate the wallpapers on his phone.

I feel like upgradig to this phone from the original SE which I currently have and love to use, but I feel like the new SE is a bit big :’D (ironically). I would literally still be happy with a 4" screen, but the lack of storage (16 GB) and the now worn out battery and soon-to-be outdated hardware is causing too much trouble.

    IT JUST WOOOORKS

    iPhone SE battery lasts long?

  7. Youssef Elbahtimy on February 25, 2021 at 10:55 pm

I remember when Apple and iOS was considered so modern and vogue and Android was a joke. This is one of the first times I’ve heard anyone comparing it to your stern grandpa. Is this the end for iOS?

  15. Halla on February 25, 2021 at 11:06 pm

Watching this on my SE2. I’m really happy so far. It just doesn’t let me down on anything I do with it. I really don’t like the newest large models. This is perfect. A steal for the price tbh

  16. hello adele on February 25, 2021 at 11:06 pm

  17. Adnan Hussain on February 25, 2021 at 11:06 pm

So is it worth buying a pre owned iPhone 8 plus of eBay for the same price of a se20 with 1 years Apple warranty on the se.

  19. Stevie 268 on February 25, 2021 at 11:10 pm

Is it worth being with apple rather than samsung as samsung don’t give software updates on any phone over 4 years old but apple do up to 6 years . Is this an issue . Does anyone have any info please .

  20. Tomathiah Dingleby on February 25, 2021 at 11:11 pm

The worst thing is the haptic home button. They make a button that doesn’t click so they make a fake click you cannot turn off. It is like designing a really quiet door with rubber bumpers, seals and quiet hinges then installing a speaker you cannot turn off which plays a squeak and a slam. Idiocy of the highest order.

  21. Hollow Vee on February 25, 2021 at 11:12 pm

I would die if he dropped the phone

  22. FlyByNyte2O2O on February 25, 2021 at 11:16 pm

As a normal android user I’m actually impressed with this phone. Size weight and performance is perfect. It does have a few bugs though and the sound isn’t that great but I got for free so no loss if I do choose to sell it 👍

  23. safeer on February 25, 2021 at 11:16 pm

Please don’t buy iPhone se2020 I am using since 4months there are lots of problem listed below you will face..

    1.Battery drain super fast…every 1hour u need to charge
2.wifi always disconnecting automatically, 10metere distance you will not reach wifi connectivity mostly…..and many times I reset wifi setting still cannot fix the issue
3.video and audio call always chopping , if you have full strength of coverage only good clearity
4.Some keyboard features newly added in se2020 but I used that before 2years in oppo A37f
5.Dont belive this youtuber video, They marketing about phone and using device only for making video… This is my experience……Pls go for another Device

  24. edush on February 25, 2021 at 11:17 pm

I hate how it costs fucking $600 here in Canada.

Him bashing the size of the phone/sceen and me looking at my Iphone SE (2016) which is even tinier… WELL

  31. amber franklin on February 25, 2021 at 11:23 pm

I’m mostly an android user. I didn’t want to pay for an apple music membership just so I could listen to my iTunes music that I’ve purchased over maybe the last 10 to 11 years so I felt it was a better idea to take out a contract

  32. Josh McCarthy on February 25, 2021 at 11:23 pm

What android alternatives would you recommend?

  33. Kanin Bordee on February 25, 2021 at 11:24 pm

You have such a delightful and beautiful language : )

  34. Anvardheen J on February 25, 2021 at 11:26 pm

In most of the battery drain test iphone SE is coming 4 to 5hours continuou usage for 1800 mAh battery.. other 4000 mAh is coming for 7 to 8 hours

So 1800 mAh is most powerful optimisation if same they might give at least above 2500 mAh iphone SE is the best phone for everyone

  35. Eenam on February 25, 2021 at 11:27 pm

British humour is the best 🤣

  36. Kris Greene on February 25, 2021 at 11:27 pm

    This guy 😂😂

  37. Mekong Drifter on February 25, 2021 at 11:28 pm

I know I should smack myself, because I just watched your review only two hours after buying the SE. First, the SIM tray is defective. I tried many angles with the tray picker. After over half a dozen tries, I finally opened it and figured it was just factory stiffness. I put in the SIM from my good old 6S but had to remove it for various reasons. Same desperate attempts. I managed to just get a partial fingernail under the tray and pulled it out. 2. Argh! No headphone jack, as you pointed out. I’m going back for a full refund and will suss out an old 6S at the e-cemeteries here in Bangkok. The Top Gear of phone reviews, mate!

  38. metta8 on February 25, 2021 at 11:29 pm

My main reason for sticking with Apple is texting other Apple users is just easier. Everyone that I normally text uses Apple and grouping people together is easier.

  40. Loop Hole on February 25, 2021 at 11:31 pm

Why even attempt to watch a movie on a phone anyway? I only watch movies on my iPad if I’m sleeping away from home otherwise I watch my movies on my living room tv through Apple TV or my 4k fire stick. That’s why I’ve never had a problem owning small phones. I’m currently using the original SE. I was choosing between the 12 mini and the SE. I’ve decided to go for the 2020 SE because I don’t like the protruding lenses at the back of the iPhone 12 range and I mostly use my phones for calls, YouTube and listening to music when I’m out and about.

  41. Wisata Malam on February 25, 2021 at 11:35 pm

I don’t know for SE or Plus varian from iPhone not impressive for me 🤔

  42. Mayank Verma on February 25, 2021 at 11:35 pm

If this phone was just $100 cheaper, I would’ve purchased it. Apple still doesn’t hit the Value mark especially when they try to compete with MID-RANGED Androids.

  43. AngryTypingGuy on February 25, 2021 at 11:36 pm

Came for the review. Stayed for the humor
