How to choose a motherboard: Your 2020 buying guide

How to choose a motherboard: Your 2020 buying guide

This video will walk you through the basic factors you’ll need to consider when choosing a motherboard, including what processor family you want to go with and whether you plan on overclocking. If you’re looking to build your own PC, the motherboard you choose will serve as the foundation. Your motherboard determines many of the other components that you’ll be able to use in your system, while other components, like your processor, determine which motherboards you’ll have to choose from.

This is an insanely useful video. I think I’ve learned more here than anything my own research and my brother could’ve taught me combined. Letting the consumer know what the hell they are actually looking for and why- not just here’s a bunch of specs. TY

  30. Rounak Premchandani on August 31, 2021 at 11:13 pm

What a video sir 👏👏👏👏, it really solved my problem, thank you so much for it.

  31. Garth Clark on August 31, 2021 at 11:15 pm

Good video. One thing I find confusing with the "comparison" feature on the Newegg website is for example, there may be options for NVMe M.2 ports and the choices are "all, 1, 2, 3" lets say. When selecting 1 or 2 the question is, will the comparison bring up only boards with 1 M.2 or only boards with 2 M.2 ports?
It would best best if the selections gave options to choose 1 or more or 2 or more or 3 or more ports. That way, the customer can bypass any boards that do not have less than say 2 ports and 2 ports that can run at x4 speeds vs. SATA speeds only.
I run into these issues often when trying to find boards that have internal USB 3.1 gen2 Type C headers to match boards up with newer cases that have that port on the front I/O as well as the NVMe x4 specs.

  32. Joseph Joestar on August 31, 2021 at 11:15 pm

I can’t wait to find all the components for my pc at 2x price. European prices are a mess 😀

  33. IS-3 Shchuka on August 31, 2021 at 11:18 pm

I wanted a M.2 SSD but then I saw my B450 max would have disabled 2 SATA ports so I changed my mind until I get a ASUS one that was nicely priced

  34. NoobyWarrior on August 31, 2021 at 11:19 pm

thankyou newegg i got a good motherboard of your help! (:

I am buying a pc and I am educating my self on upgrading computers. and i learned about the parts and I was planning what parts I use on upgrades and i was confused about the motherboards. which motherboard do i get? This video helped me understand better. thanks.

  37. Team-_-Zickz on August 31, 2021 at 11:21 pm

I’m thinking of building a pc, i talked to someone and said that a 500 Chipset mobo is the best so you never have to upgrade again, I’m trying to find one but it’s really hard

  38. Stefano Fedele on August 31, 2021 at 11:21 pm

I was still with the idea that a motherboard, which is a type of PCB, should be in green color with thousands of tracks for current…
