I would do a spinbase, with a uturn tt and the spinbase furniture.
Walk-off from beyond the arc, the Black Mamba for the win goes to Kristi. Great picks by Andrew as well!
My small condo setup includes the AXR100 after your recommendation, an Audio Engine B1 Bluetooth receiver with Bluetooth v5 and AptX-HD/AAC, which AXR100 doesn’t support, the Minx X201 Cambridge subwoofer (which is AMAZING and sleek) and a pair of Wharfedale Diamond 201.
Sound is great, but considering how small my condo is, a more reasonable buy would have been the first option you mentioned with the two wireless speakers. But I prefer to buy things for the long run and I think this is something I can build on top. The only gripe I have with the AXR100, is that it doesn’t let you cut off the frequencies sent to the speakers. Would be nice to not have those tiny speakers struggle with the bass. Of course you can add more components to the system to handle this, but not ideal.
Thanks for the good work! 🙂
Kristi Wins! Fun video!!!
Well, this was so wholesome to watch, Kristi made such solid buils👌
Kristi won this round, let’s see a rematch at 2k
More more
Yes, she did.
One of the most boring video reviews over time! Instead of showing more visuals of the product, does the guy like to keep himself in the picture most of the time? just as well these reviews could be done on the radio!
I would appreciate saying which are for nearfield (e.g. desk) and farfield (couch etc.)
Probably, you have reviewed systems on this channel that cost 10X higher. But this video was one of the most enjoyable ones. May be she did better :). Especially the 5th system was a surprise. I have heard a lot of good things about Tannoy but did not know that they make a powered speaker. Monitor audio is also a good choice for the 6th system, their speakers not only sound good but look great. I wish you could include a sub in the 5th and 6th systems and exclude the turntables. But may be it is better to have no sub than have a bad one.
She is good!!! But I choose option #3
I think the Cambridge foundation has the most potential, all of them would make a very nice starting point. Love the Fluance rt85.

Kristi wins❗️❗️👍🏼
I buy all the bargains and end up spending the cost of an esoteric kit. A big disappointment was the Andover Songbird, it sounds great but I got a defective unit and you have to pay to return it, go to the post office after I waisted time setting it up and spending too much time back and forth with Andover s customer support … luckily the analog out still works, and toslink out is only 16/44.1 anyway.
With headphones, I will listen to music via Bluetooth for the convenience and the music sounds good, though nothing amazing. But if I’m home, why would I rely only on Bluetooth transmitting my music? I guess the Bluetooth-only system recommended are for people with mp3 libraries. For those who want a a great system at home listening to vinyl or lossless files, buying a quality receiver like the Cambridge to only use Bluetooth speakers, just to stay under $1,000, sounds like a waste of equipment. Certainly, you could go with a cheaper receiver because over Bluetooth, you won’t get the full potential. If my logic is faulty, I’d like to hear your opinion.
8:01 His face remained so still I thought the video had frozen
Maybe she did ! Great subject thank you both.
Kristi’s systems are very adventurous so I think she won 😂. Although your Jamo and Cambridge setup is my favorite, I think I would pay more for the AXR 100!👌
Hi, great video as always.
My small system is composed of a pair of DALI SPEKTOR 2 (Danish) an AB class 25 W Pioneer amplifier (1979) and the SMSL DP3 used only as DAC. How would you rate the performance of this system in comparison with yours?
I personally think that DALI SPEKTOR 2 are Amazing for my taste: big fan of neutral fast speaker for jazz, classical, rock with good sound stage.
But what about budget for cables?
Super solid choices!!
Early Xmas gifts!
Great video again, here is one for you two! How about a Vintage system under a grand!!
Nice picks! Kristi won obviously 😀
How come Camridge Audio integrated amp CXA81 (80W/8ohm) costs 1200euro, while their receiver AXR85 (85W/8ohm) costs less than half of that? Either the receiver is a bargain or the amp is over-priced. On top of that, receiver combines functionality of integrated amp + a streamer and their CXN streamer costs over 1100 euro.
Seeing you go on about the fluance and such
..so glad I never bought a new table.
You both had some nice systems spec’d out, but Kristi gets my vote because she generally went with better speakers….leaving the door open to actually hear improvements should one decide to upgrade any components.
She did..better speaker picks 😁
Kristi out-pizzad the… yes!
In my opinion what works pretty well for budget speakers (specially towers) and subs is to search for manufacturers from your country or nearby that you may like. These things can be big and heavy, and transportation and taxes can make a significant impact at low budgets. And being local it will be easier to find good offers and a showroom to listen them before you buy.
You both had cool systems.
Kristi’s may have been a little more fun.
Thanks for this Andrew, I think it does a lot of good for people getting into the hobby or just wanting a nice system. It’s really overwhelming for newcomers. Would you do one on a 2.1/3.1 home theater/hifi setup? Also some basic videos on the differences between integrated amps, AV receivers, stereo receivers, streamers, etc. I myself am finding it hard to know what I need. Love all the videos, keep it up!
Thanks for great video Andrew? How about under $2500 and $5000 setups?
Sony Bluetooth turntable ? I’m not so sure about that little arrangement…
Very good information. You two are doing fine 👍
Nice info… Thanks..
Very nice!
i would like to see a 5.1 or 7.1 sound system under $1000 or maybe $2500 thanks keep up the awesome work guys
I did a Sony STR-DH190, Audio Technica AT-LP60X, with Klipsch R-820Fs, all for $920. The prices are a bit different now, but the receiver was $120, turntable $100 and towers $700. I don’t think it quite qualifies as hi-fi though.
NAD C316BEE v2 and ELAC ub52 brings you around a grand. Or the Cambridge axr85 but I haven’t heard that amp.
That doesn’t include streamer or anything but hook your phone or tablet direct via 3.5 to stereo rca until you get your stack up for a streamer
I think you know the answer yourself 😂. Brilliant…love it. Thanks guys…great as always.
It would be cool to make this a series and with home theater with 2,500, 5,000, and 10,000 dollar budgets
In Andrew’s first system he chose an Orbit Plus because it had the "on board" phono preamp. As an upgrade he considered the Fluance RT85 primarily because it is a great value as a turntable but also comes with the Ortofon Blue Cartridge – but it does not have an internal phono section. Or am I mistaken? And if it does not, then you do have to figure in a separate phono section.
Vid about any great hifi/DAC systems (Dolby Atmos) under $1500? Small room set ups for the win. Doesn’t need to punch just emmerse
Really fun video! Would be great to do more videos with higher budgets and/or different listening preferences (vinyl vs digital) etc.
I wonder what is more common…. dedicated 2 channel system or HT system 5.1+ that is sometimes used to listen to music in a 2 channel Mode? I don’t count desktop systems near a computer.
I’m 90% Home Theater. Could you put together systems (say under $2500) not including the display?
Yeah, dude. She wiped the floor with you . Maybe we see the revenge of Andrew for a $2000 system.
