The Sonos Arc Surround Sound System consists of a Sonos Arc soundbar, Sub, and 2 surround speakers. There are various options for surround speakers such as the Sonos One, One SL, Five, Play:1, Play:3, Play:5, and more.

My system has the Sonos Arc, Sub, and 2x One SLs. This is a 5.1.2 channel system. The soundbar handles the front 3 channels, the One SLs handle the 2 rear channels, there’s a single subwoofer, and there are 2 upward-firing channels in the soundbar.

I came here for Sonos review but overall it’s the cats for me particularly the black floofy one

  2. Ken Murray on October 17, 2021 at 10:06 am

Amazon is no longer selling the Sonos line of products just 3rd parties. ARC and Sub prices are marked up significantly and the One SL are same price right now but again through a 3rd parties.

$1800! It’s the equivalent of $3k in the UK. Daylight robbery.

  6. Matthew Rezuke on October 17, 2021 at 10:14 am

So can you have four of those little speakers at the same time?

Can the Sonos ARC upmix a Dolby 5.1 to a pseudo Atmos sound? Will it use all the internal speakers or just the LCR ones? I know it wont be the same as true Atmos but I listen to a lot more 5.1 than Atmos.

Appreciate the honest review. I had really hoped to hear better things about the integration with Android. Apparently I will have to keep looking. the other challenge for me is also the lack of HDMI port counts

  16. Platoface on October 17, 2021 at 10:25 am

I play off my computer without issue. At least I think I do. I’ll have to try. No…. I do, using the Sonos app on my computer. I guess that is what you were saying. And yes, I play YT audio through airplay.

    Greetings…

    Thanks for a great review…

We purchased the entire system i.e. ( Sonos ARC, Sub & One SL x2, with stands)…After a long deliberation, we decided to return everything…While we were very impressed with the sound quality of Sonos, we were equally disappointed that Sonos decided not to support media encoded in DTS. We have an extensive DVD, BluRay and Downloaded media collection, with DTS audio tracks and sadly, we wouldn’t be able to enjoy these using Sonos.

We reviewed many products. prior to deciding to purchase Sonos. While reading which audio formats were supported, we failed to notice the lack of DTS support during our research; had we noticed, we would not have gone with Sonos.

In the end, although there were many highly desirable characteristics, we were unable to justify the considerable expense associated with the Sonos home theatre collection, whilst dealing with two glaring shortcomings:

    1. No support for DTS.
    2. No support for late model TVs that possess an ARC, rather than an EARC type HDMI connection. (Unfortunately, only recent model T.V.s with an EARC connection have the ability to pass through the full spectrum of Dolby Digital type signals, including Dolby Atmos, etc.)

hey man i wud appreciate it if you can answer this question. im planning on buying the arc and sub but i have a xgimi projector in the back of me meaning i would have to plug the arc behind whete im sitting you think it’s possible?

  21. Ellwood Sunnell on October 17, 2021 at 10:34 am

I’ve had my Sonos system for about five years. I can’t think of a thing I would change! My rear room surround sound speakers are a set of wall mounted Bose though that I had from a former Bose system. I purchased the Sonos amplifier to drive them.

  22. Michael Mitchell on October 17, 2021 at 10:35 am

    I want

  23. Joseph Voss on October 17, 2021 at 10:35 am

I just bought into the Sonos system for our new home purely for the wireless aspect. Audio quality is sub par, especially for music, but the wire management makes the room setup very clean. BTW, your wire management strategy needs a lot of work dude.

  24. ItsShowtime on October 17, 2021 at 10:35 am

I was a bit surprised by our experience working from a computer. Usually computers should have home internet access, and Sonos provides a Mac and Windows application to stream your music (or use services like Spotify/Deezer) to your sound system the exact same way as you would on mobile.

  28. Thomas Hock on October 17, 2021 at 10:45 am

You can install the Sonos s2 windows software to control the soundbar

  29. Dan Giovannetti on October 17, 2021 at 10:46 am

I have to say that after watching this video, I may actually return this system. We just purchased it and expect it to arrive today, but after hearing that it doesn’t have bluetooth, I may return and get the JBL 9.1

  30. L L on October 17, 2021 at 10:46 am

Does a Dolby atmos/ surroundsound system make a difference when watching movies on TV/ Satellit?

  31. AMC AQUATICS on October 17, 2021 at 10:47 am

You think $1800 is too much, in the UK the same thing is £1800 which is 35% more again so no matter how good it is it’s simply NOT good value for money here in the UK.

  32. Ivan j on October 17, 2021 at 10:47 am

    NO

Who still uses a blue ray player?

  34. Patrick Guerrisi on October 17, 2021 at 10:49 am

One thing I hate is cables showing. If I were to buy a traditional setup. I would get really long cables and run the, through the roof and mount everything on the wall ( except sub) Even your TV cable hanging out is triggering my OCD

  35. Ron Tay on October 17, 2021 at 10:50 am

If I ever see someone hate on this Sonos arc setup with the sub and surround speakers. They are fucking haters. friends and family come to my home and amazed how clear and crisp the sound is. Did I mention loud as hell

  36. shiraz robinson on October 17, 2021 at 10:51 am

Quick tip if you buy Sonos just buy a certified refurbished off the website

  37. jeevan g on October 17, 2021 at 10:53 am

Would it be possible to use a pair of ikea bookshelf or frame speakers as surround units with the arc?

  38. Rueagon Vyceratops on October 17, 2021 at 10:54 am

hell i want a sonos system , but i can not afford one not even just the bar to start out .

  39. Ricardo on October 17, 2021 at 10:58 am

Yes it’s worth, they have a really good sound. And yes other brands can do that to. Have Sonos and Bose. And I have to say, the Bose have a better range with notes than the Sonos. But the Sonos sounds warmer, de Bose reach higher notes and sounds a little better.

  40. Atish Ď on October 17, 2021 at 10:58 am

Can you do a comparison between sonos arc and jbl 9.1 ?

  41. muddslinger 318 on October 17, 2021 at 10:58 am

I had a question I have a onkyo receiver that support Sonos can I use Sonos speakers as back surrounds and have wired speakers for the front surround?

  42. adam tillman on October 17, 2021 at 11:01 am

No Bluetooth is bullshit for that price . Get Samsung

  43. Anil Dangol on October 17, 2021 at 11:01 am

one HDMI arc port is great. However after I using receiver and 4K pass through capability feature I would never go back to sound bar. with Passthrough and arc, I can literally control my projector, speaker volume and apple tv at the same time and no need to turn them off each one at a time. When I turn on apple tv, it automatically turns on receiver and projector and when I turn off my apple tv it turns off everything.

  44. Platoface on October 17, 2021 at 11:02 am

Just purchased the Arc and Sub off the Sonos site. Arc is back a ordered till 10/15/2021. Sub is delayed 5 days. I already have a play bar and 2 5s and 3 1s. I love my Sonos speakers. Thank you for doing this review. We know it’s not cheap. The arc, the Sub, and the arc mount was $1700 and change.
