Dungeons & Dragons Online First Impressions “Is It Worth Playing?”
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=amz86lxRwlg
My favorite character was a halfling ranger with two rapiers that were max constitution damage. Raped the kills from all the crits
I started DND almost 2 years ago and I think this could be good for a newbie like me 🙂
Toxic a-whole community ruins game.
I tend to disagree with you on ALOT of your criticism. The pay wall is justified. You can hit max level as a f2p and they give away a ton a quests every year.
Playing in a tutorial area made in 2006 isn’t a great way to review the game. Also, he was using standard client for lower end PC’s. The graphics are greatly improved if you download the high res client.
Playing with more expiranced players is more fun in alot of ways because it allows you to challenge yourself reaper the difficulties. Plus they have almost everything they need so anything your group gets can be yours.
Im just starting to play this game and i have to say its the best mmorpg i’ve ever played, and i did play a lot of them when i was younger, rn a lot of the premium things have gone free to play too
You should definitely give this one another shot! Just this year (2022) the made most of the content, races, and classes that were locked in this video free to play… I’ve been playing since it went free to play and always find myself coming back to it…. its a great game, that continues to be updated by the dev team with new expansions and the like… with a big expansion coming in the next few months… try Sarlona server or Argonnessen server which have larger player counts … also take a look at the forums for custom builds as those premade paths are way out dated, there is a huge wiki for this game as well… awesome video it’s to see someone with a larger platform giving it a try!!!!
how about updating the grafics to mordern stuff and create a new extention like in wow with new mechanics. would that not make the game good ? (better then the stuff that gets put out nowadays)
I remember playing this game me and my friends, we used to play this after school, it brings back the fun memories we had.
Sorry boys, late comment that’s unrelated to the video slightly but…
What’s the music around 0:23 ? I’ve been looking for it for years….
i tried playing this today. can’t log in. registered a new account but the log in screen doesn’t recognize my username. tried all manor of login attempts but still no joy. shame, this looked like a good game to waste a few days on.
In case anyone didnt know in recent years they have been giving away large portion of those quest bundles. Right now as of 11/1/2021 they are giving away a about 150 quests for free till the end of the year. And they have done this twice in recent years so nows a good time to jump in.
wish we got this for android….
try gothic 1 and 2
so wait what is he playing on steam?
DDO IS THE BEST party based MMO about Dungeons & Dragons or anything like it in existence. Real purpose for GUILDS. So many great instanced dungeons. So many great weapons and items. Killer combat. Building/leveling is so diverse. Nothing comes close.
Anybody else notice how some of the best games have to be ruined by big spiders EVERYTIME. Skyrim, shadow of war and morder, dragons dogma, kingdoms of amalur so on and so forth
I would have to disagree with the very restrictive free to play model
If you do the dungeons on higher levels and gather favor with the different factions you get some free premium currency, which you can eventually use to buy classes, adventure packs, races etc.
Gathering favor with the various factions eventually can unlock a few other things like the drow race, and favored soul class (though it does take a while)
The free to play content that is there is quite expansive as far as I’m concerned, with some very cool dungeons being completely free to explore
I would rather pay $60 for a quality game 1 time, than a $1000 on a "free to play" game from over 10 years ago…. or even play something like WoW (million times better game) for free lol
I wish they would update the game to be more modernized tho
The forum also has great character builds to help you
Quick point to make, that "paywall" is actually unlockable just by playing the game. You earn the currency by playing the game and doing quests.
Bro imagine if DnD got a graphics overhaul, it would be one of the greatest MMORPG games ever in the history of video games.
Free to Play got a ton of the locked classes and races unlocked recently should check it out if that was what held you back
ah yes that word was definitely spelled "artifacter" and not completely differently
If there was ever a hidden gem amongst games it’s DDO,, I played it for years when it first released, it was way ahead for it’s time, 12 people using voice comms on raids is just too good. 14 years on and I’m still remembering many special moments in game that no other game has done for me to this day..the community was amazing, the depth of gameplay and character development was amazing…can’t say enough praises about this game ..
Lord Ainz brought me back here
To add: Right now you can get all content for free with the exception of races and classes and the most recent 2 expansions. This means that all the small quest packs and slightly older expansions are free which saves tons of money. You can get UI skins to make the game look a bit better/more suited to color preferences. You can also unlock several races and classes just by playing the game and doing quests which is another thing to note.
Enjoyed hackers drops in Dungeon Siege, much joy after stale lifetime of standard gameplay.
Hi 3 questions… 1) can you be a Death Knight? …. 2) is this on Mac?… 3) can you remap the keys?
nice review, might try this game later 😀
"Oh-No the Sahuagin Found Me."
I cannot tell when you’re being sarcastic!!!! 😂😂
The whole thing with you saying puzzles are good I just can’t tell if it’s sarcasm or not 😂
"I just found a hidden cult under the tavern as you do" 🤣 I’ve been considering whether I want to continue playing DDO or move onto WoW, I am really enjoying DDO, but I was looking for reviews to make sure I’m not getting scammed, I do spend a bit on the side outside of the VIP membership, they also charge loads for expansions, I think I’m going to stick with it for now though, thank you for this video
I keep a subscription running for this game despite not even playing it for months, simply because I want to support this game. I love it so much man, and the day it dies will be a sad one indeed.
I’m generally pretty shy, so I always bring my own friends in to play the game, but the few interactions I had with randoms was always very positive
I may actually get back into playing this soon, maybe even join a guild and start playing with randoms
Okay but the graphics like aren’t terrible, they are actually likeable. I do wonder what it would be like if this was given a honorable remastered version in unreal engine 🙂
This game had me when I fought a vampire and he disappeared. Not realizing he blinded me because my perception checks failed. Just like a scumbag DM. Lol also jump is a skill that’s actually important sometimes. Taking jump for granted in all those other games all those years.
you can show helm by typing /showhelm
Played it back in 2009 but then jumped ship for WoW. I get that people commenting here have fond memories, but I found it way clunkier than WoW and not as engrossing.
However, it’s nice to see it’s still going and still fairly cool. I’m not sure I’m nostalgic enough that I’ll install it (and it doesn’t have any specific connection with my childhood — to put it in context, I was playing the original Baldurs Gate at university and Eye of the Beholder 2 on the Amiga at 13) but it’s nice to see a video about a positive MMO video after so much of JSH pointing and laughing at bad ones.
DUNGEONS AND DRAGON THESE BALLS hehehehehehe
A couple of my friends from my dnd group and I played this game for a long time. In our current campaign, I am actually playing my DDO character. My DM is doing a great job of incorporating my past into the current setting.
I think this mmo is worth a second look now that free players have more class and race options for free. Maybe down the line? Also in regards to hidden doors, traps, and the like – DDO is a very skill and role based game. If you dont have the requisite skill or talents to do something, then you cant. Not very likely a Barbarian would have the skills to find a lot of secret doors unless you’ve painstakenly built it for that purpose or youve multi-classed into like rogue or artificer for example. Glad to see you enjoyed your time with this niche game 🙂
I loved this game years ago and it was the closest to paper DND I ever played in a online mmo but I never did care for the warforge and machines part of it .. but I love the low key stats and I was ok with the reincarnation part too it was fun doing extra lives .. but to me the game got a little wierd with too many funky races and all .. I’m t traditional DND I guess and had to try other games .. I’ve played LOTRO a lot more .. it hasn’t got to funky out there with machines lol .. even tho I miss the DND style stats and feather fall .. I might dabble in DDO again but .. it would not hold me like LOTRO has
Oh man, I loved this game as a kid, I played it with my family and friends all the time! This is gonna date when I played, but I quit around the time when the Underdark sections were getting polished, and the Expansions were getting put into full swing
LOL "this user interface is very confusing" If you ever played pnp DnD its actually really similar to the pages you write stuff down on. I didnt have any trouble transitioning from pnp to this game 14 years ago, when I was like 15
Was an awsome game till they ruined it with the expansion and changed combat systems and made any previous raid items and crafting items useless.
OG MMORPG Games can’t be replaced nor Replicated.
It’s worth playing every year they bring out new exciting content.
i love how these ads pay you to talk about a game you clearly would never play/talk bad about if you had to review it given they never contacted you. As if anyone who watches these videos would be sold on some crappy P2W game
I have a pretty modern PC and still can’t get the fucker to run. 🙂
I’m an MMO junkie and just started DDO. Tbh it is really addictive and alot of fun. The ONLY negative I have towards the game is it not being open world like it’s sister game Lord of The Rings Online.
