Dolby Vision Gaming Goes Live on Xbox Series X – Here's The Best TV to Take Full Advantage
Dolby Vision gaming has officially gone live on the Xbox Series X (& Xbox Series S), having previously only been available in beta to Xbox Insiders. We checked the Dolby Vision compatibility & also measure the input lag in Dolby Vision (Game Mode if available) of televisions from various manufacturers, to help you decide on which is the best TV to take full advantage of DV gaming on the Xbox Series X.

Will the LG BX be getting DV120hz update?
The blues are now properly saturated and the hazy grey midtones is gone. REDS, however are still orangey. Its very easy to test with cyberpunk, driving around in the night
Can you do a video on what is the point of Dolby Vision without Dynamic Meta Data and games without Native Support? I mean prompt Triggers on the TV are cool and all. But I always thought what makes Dolby Vision cool is that is dynamic.
C9 lg #1
Hmmm, I think lg will run DV on c9…
Does anyone here know if we should recalibrate in-game HDR settings, or keep them as they are/were? As an example, I played several games, but it isn’t until now where I am checking the HDR screen on Resident Evil Village, and the square I need to make barely visible now differs from when I used standard HDR. Before I’d have to slide it all the way up, but now it is only five clicks up from the lowest.
the review master!!!!
Best tv guy in the biz!!!!
Its too bad about the C9, I bought an E9 but broke it so had to replace it got the Cx and now it looks like it was meant to be.
Love my 77" Cx
Xbox Series X + LG = The best choice for games
RE: the Sony – when it receives the VRR /ALLM update (which is beginning to roll out now) would that then combat the input lag introduced by Dobby vision?
What about LG Nanocell series?
Dolby vision used to work for games like Halo and Psychonauts 2 before the update, but ever since the update its just regular HDR.
I did the test on the console and my tv shows it supports 4K 60fps dolby vision gaming, but it doesn’t turn on. I have the B9.
Any advice, good sir?
The best tv is mine LG CX 🙂
Hi Vincent
Could please review the LG Qned 90/91 4k tv? 😄😄 I have my eyes on that set for the next upgrade
Thanks
I fell in to the SONY NextGen feature promises, but they never delivered. My next TV will be LG for sure.
I got the CX 55inch best tv around very similar to the C1
My nano90 LG still says it isn’t supported when I check my 4k details on the series x..My tv has Dolby Vision IQ built in..does that not count??!
Does that mean the CX will support Dolby vision 120 hz in the future?
Will my legendary Sony XE93 (X930E) that supports Dolby Vision still play 1440p @120hz dolby vision or 4k 60hz accurately?
Now my XBOX Series X supports Dolby Vision but my 2020 Samsung TV not…
Looks good 😊 on c1
the main reason i gouty LG C1 , was due to your reviews, thanks again and it was worth every penny;loving my tv.
So the hold up for getting the Game Bar and the DV support on the CX/GX models is only software?
I’ve got the LG Bx 55" with the Xbox series X and for £1450 in total you can’t go wrong for both the TV and the Xbox X
Hello all , do you know something about BX series? Regards
I have a TCL 55r615 and game mode turns on then when dolby vision turns on the game mode turns off I can turn It on manually but I’m confused why ALLM won’t work properly
I want a 55inch lg tv for my series x, what model pls? Thankyou.
I tried DV gaming on my Sony 900h and even in DV dark the picture looked brighter and oversaturated compared to HDR10.
I strongly feel that Sony wasn’t thinking about DV gaming because PS5 doesn’t support it, and their TV’s are marketed as "ps5 ready." Why give Xbox users an edge.
I’m just hoping that when Sony finally releases the VRR update, we’re not left with issues related to flickering and crushed blacks with HDR like we’ve seen with other manufacturers.
All of this tech is still so new to TVs it really is a headache
+ Ayo Vince, I’ma let you finish, but check out DV on a Visio one time. It’s looking seriously good right now.
I turned it off during the desaturation debacle during the late summer. Re-enabled it last week, and it’s been gangbusters (except for the red!s). Sometimes it looks SO GOOD (destiny, GOW5, PSO2:NGS, cyberpunk)- the gradients are smoother, it just has that UMPH – similar to comparing DV & HDR10 movies. Dv is just better.
Sorry for Samsung owners, no DV for you, and no one cares about bootleg HDR10+.
I have the c9. Is the difference that big that I should buy a c1? can anyone see the difference with the naked eye?
Any chance last year NANOs can get 4k/120 DV update? 🤞🏽🤞🏽🤞🏽
How good actually is it? I was told that they’re basically all the same, being hdr10+ (samsung version) and dolby vision
Is everyone using 55 color for game optimizer mode? Can’t find answers from anyone if that’s more accurate for or not then the default 50?
I turned on Dolby Vision gaming on my Sony A1E and although it looks much better than HDR10, I had to turn it off because I couldn’t deal with the increased lag
It’s definitely looks much better, but adds very noticeable input lag on my Hisense tv
Why on my lg TV some games look washed out with dolby vision and some look good ?Is there a way to correct the washed out look?
I have lg oled c9 and no game starts via DV. why? checked gears 5, ms flight simultor, dirt 5. these games are supposedly powered by DV. for me, each of these games is triggered by HDR. why?
My TV has Dolby Vision, but I find SDR and HDR10 way better than Dolby. Dolby looks really dark/dim and theres no way to change the settings on my TV.
Sony sucks as always.
I can’t wait for 120hz content outside of gaming to get anywhere. Part of the reason I picked 4k60 for the next couple years is because I realized 4k content exists and can even be seen on YouTube while 120hz is a ghost town outside of gaming and looking at GoPro footage
Is he going to do best settings for dolby vision?
Not gonna lie there are more C9 users including me out there and I bought the tv just so I can get the best gaming experience so it will be really stupid of LG to not find a way to support C9 owners as well. But in any case I still think I’ll take 48 gbs bandwidth over 120hz dolby vision.
This update broke my G-Sync to my PC.. anyone else?
Thank you for asking about the 2019 LG models! Even though I don’t keep my hopes up it doesn’t hurt to remind LG that there are many users who are interested in them. Also – if LG finds out it cannot be realized (for whatever reason) it would be great to know as well.
I was sold the Sony 900H by the guy at Best Buy saying this tv will have everything needed for series x. Lie, is there a chance Sony has an update to fix the Dolby vision 120hz?
Does the Series X support Dolby Vision UHD movies now with this update?
On my CX, the Xbox already says it is capable of DV gaming 🤔
What about Dolby Vision Gaming on LG NanoCell TVs? Will 120Hz be supported on them do you think?
If you have an 8 bit plus frc monitor should you leave it on 8 bit for the Xbox settings or 10bit
