I was thinking of Daggerfall Unity the whole time.
I’m laughing to distract myself from how much the accuracy hurts.
Hell…. At this point i just want a gret game with the setting the monsters the abilities … But with arpg mechanics….. Fact is the dice rolls will becer translate well if youre simulating dnd to that level it will not work as virtual ganeplay…. Just oet me play a bastard child of dmc and diablo as an aracockra monk….. Its all i ask
ah yes videos games perfect English
I’m spoiling you all this week, you get 3 long form sketches instead of 1! I know I know, no need to thank me……but go on
Pathfinder: *laughs at all the other D&D games*
This also just further proves Pathfinder’s ultimate supremacy over D&D.
bg 3 isnt actually released it is only betta test unfinnished game so dont count but really why dont you have chosen some… i dunno finnished and working games which are already done? like a bg 1 and 2?
"I was thinking of giving the players the option to role their own dice instead of the game’s dice"
I have been saying this to so many people when playing Solasta. My dice fail WAY TO MUCH….I save the game too much out of fear of failing to some easy fights.
I realize this is a skit. But I want to sic the barbarian on them.
Now I wanna see a video about Tiny Tina and the D&D parody.
But I like Baldur’s Gate ! It’s like D&D but easier and I don’t have to know/understand my stats !
Really it’s perfect for beginners I think because you can roll (lol) with it without really understanding all the mechanics and figure them out throughout the game without being dead weight for your party. And you don’t have to fight with the other members about what your approche is because you control everyone 😈
And then you have Pathfinder Kingmaker, where the only thing missing is the grid.
This is why I like Pathfinder: Kingmaker and Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous. It’s still more DnD than Dark Alliance.
But honestly, dark alliance is a very good game
Sadly that GameCube game is my only real experience playing D&D. I liked it, but super annoyed with things like the inability to hit max level, the hallway structure and how useless the charisma stat was given how few shops there are. It doesn’t matter how high it is since you’ll only be using whatever weapons you find in the field and just need potions.
On the bright side you can put in a code, make yourself invincible (just don’t mess up any platforming) and can run around in your underwear as a Human Ranger, Elf Sorceress and Dwarf…I forgot what his class was, but you bum rush everything with a hammer like a short train. Apparently there was even a glitch where the underwear failed to load in certain cutscenes for a brief moment.
I never tried it because I was too busy being frustrated that there there was no way to get max level and trying to loot everything that I could.
It is a reason why I want to properly experience D&D, so there is that.
Believe it or not my first “experience” with dnd was an Xbox game called dungeons and dragons heroes and I found it pretty fun if a bit too straight forward. Hated that I couldn’t create a character though.
In fairness to BG3 it’s pretty fun
Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands is a looter shooter but surprisingly better than most actual DnD games
This is how I feel about baulders gate 3. Why can’t you just start in a tavern, meet npcs, form a party and go on missions. Drive me nuts how easy of a game that would be yet its not being done.
Have a main story if you wish but give more option for procedurally generated quests. I would even settle for a custom quest maker which could be shared to other players
And thats why skyrim is the closest thing to DND we will ever have
baldurs gate 1&2 and neverwinter nights 1&2 are fucking awesome except mysteries of west gate
the issue wuth a dnd game, especially one that isn’t just roll20, is that you have to sacrifice some freedom when making it. some players use spells in unconventional ways. thats part of the fun. but when you make a game, you have to hard code limits into the system. otherwise things get broken. and not in the fun way. t=imo, the best way to make a dnd game would be to take the story of a module and make a game around that story. sure, take some abilities from dnd, fireballs and the like would be good, but don’t make it a dnd game. make, say, a curse of straad game. take the story and world of curse of straad and make it a game. (personally i think turn based strategy might be a good option. you could have a party with different actions, have interesting environments and enemies and a good story)
It’s not easy to make a fully automated dnd video game. I tried. It’s very complicated and absolutely an inconvenience…
Too many variables, story wise. Making an AI dm is extremely hard and making all the story changes to accommodate player choices is unbelievably time consuming…
I think most game developers just try to give you the feel of the world in a set story, instead of try to mimic dnd directly.
Y’all basically want an mmorpg or coop rpg with infinite story possibilities that adapt to the players like a human dm . That will not be possible for a very long time.
I have ideas for the dm issue, but the infinite choice based branching storyline options of dnd being precoded into the game is unrealistic for even AAA developers for now.
I’d really love a Skyrim type open world version of Dragonlance where you start at Dragons of Autumn Twilight as Tasslehoff, Tanis, Flint, Goldmoon, Tika, Caramon, Raistlin, Sturm, or Riverwind. A complete playthrough can unlike Fisban and High Theocrat.
I was soooo stoked for dark Alliance. Probably one of my biggest gaming let downs in some time.
I spoke to many Game Devs over the years about a DnD game that is actually just a Sandbox with all the usual Races, Classes, Mechanics and Monster in it that a DM can use to Craft his own Campaign and share it with players. The general concensus was: It wouldnt be that hard to do. All you need is Programmers that have knowledge and experience with playing DnD. But no Studio and/or Publisher wants to tackle a "Real" DnD game. Its quite Sad indeed. Divinty Original Sins 2 has a mode like it.. while its not perfect its actually pretty close to what i wish a DnD based game would actually look like.
Idea: a DnD game that’s divided in two. One version for DMs, one for Players. Both are open world, but Player Edition has various premade senarios while the DM version has story crafting. The Player Edition is compatible with single and multiplayer, and the two versions could connect over wifi to replicate tabletop DnD.
Players and the DM also have the option to use real dice or not, and the DM version has debug mode to make the game compatible with the most unpredictable players.
Add in all the stuff from the DnD books, and the game shouldn’t take longer than a century or two to program.
Hey baldur’s gate 3 is seeming to be the DnD but virtual experience
its just really buggy and in early access right now
its gettin updated tho so thats gucci
literally that company is just gonna end up bankrupt and no longer able to create even more D&D games after some years but if they managed to create a D&D game that actually has the mechanics that people like then that companies gonna make allot of money if it were to be released
Meanwhile Pathfinder’s video games are pretty decent
Me: How about mechanics that are just make a save vs death no HP, when you attack you choose the stat you attack with kinda like the Voldermort 4th edition we never speak of.
JS: We don’t speak of it for a reason.
Havoc: So wait… If I can choose attacking with strength or charisma, shouldn’t I just dump my points in charisma for you know…role play advantage?
Me: That’s the neat part. Monsters might have bonuses or even immunity vs certain stats. Trial and error.
JS: Could I use intelligence to determine that? Me: Sure
Havoc: So someone is always gonna suck at something. Me: Yes
Havoc: This is why control players in card games shouldn’t design.
Me: But think of the kaiju battles. Like this wurm monster with +8 on all saves vs a giant cobra that is immune to strength and dexterity attacks.
JS: Are we ever gonna see monsters fighting? Me: Probably not.
I like BGDA, wish there was a third.
Voice of the cards was a pretty good TTRPG-like game
Man, OG Dark Alliance, DA2, Champions of Norrath… those were some good gaming days.
I loved dark alliance baulders gate
Why haven’t dnd video games let me play as a monk? 😭
What people want: Elderscrolls but you can choose your own dialogue based on your rolls and everything anything does is based on a d20 roll they can see and they can use their own dice for their rolls.
WoTC: no that’s too hard, instead let’s disappoint again.
There should be an AR game that brings DnD boards to life. Imagine having the Dragon actually breathe fire on the character’s pieces, that would be so cool!
Get this get this get this: a hallway.
Can someone just make Neverwinter Nights 3. With modern internet, I can even see people developing modules and turning it into a VTT.
"Quality over money, but we have no quality, soooo… MONEY." BWAHAHHAHAHAHA THAT WAS BRILLIANT!
This hurts.
yeah those larian studios chumps were like: lets ignore most things about the rules, let everyone hide as a bonus action so if your playing ranged you can just brake the game, only use material from basic 5e rules that came out like 10 years ago and give rogues a extra bonus action and remove two weapon fighting rules so rogues get 3 attacks at level 2. also lets make a plot that makes no sense like a non magical mindflayer tadpole that effects a extremally powerful curse like vampirism and name it balders gate despite no even going there once! also lets get pretty much all the details for every class wrong!
And then they ask "what did we do wrong"
Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines was the best D&D game.
Saw the glasses in the thumbnail and thought it would be a chaps video
Baldurs gate 1 and 2 aren’t bad though
Temple of Elemental Evil still stands to be the most accurate dnd game to date.
This dude has never played Dungeons and Dragons Online. Although its 15 years old. It is the least baztardized D&D game to date. You gotta like 3.5 ed tho.
Acutually Balder’s gate Dark Alliance Ps2 was quite fun I thought…it happened just at the right time when graphics were just getting interesting but not hd and not the main effort. I got to understand the basic classes and equipment etc and tropes of D&D… No dice rolling but we started in a tavern it had beholders running thieves guilds, ice dragons, betrayals, fake betrayals and everything. I understand now it was not true D&D but still, I thought the story was okay. The new remake in the world of hd however is horrible. Funny That!
