I would enjoy for a video on how to install a backup camera- low (backup mirror) vs. medium (some wiring) vs. expensive AF (full wiring harness work).

Pretty sure brown is for a power antenna

  4. Adam N on November 23, 2020 at 7:10 pm

The downside of both the brand name ones is they lack a volume knob. Thats probably the only upside of the $50 one. Not a big deal if you hook them to your steering wheel controls but if not a actual volume knob is much better than than having to push the small volume buttons along the bottom.

  10. Sanjeev Vistarakula on November 23, 2020 at 7:14 pm

Can you text and drive using the headunit or do you have to be stopped to use the feature like stock units in some cars?

  11. Ryan Main on November 23, 2020 at 7:15 pm

Isn’t brown wire for ground? I mean usually

  17. 311Hanel on November 23, 2020 at 7:23 pm

How much is the pioneer head unit?

  18. jimflys2 on November 23, 2020 at 7:23 pm

I really can’t imagine getting something like this in any car. Too much head down time. I guess I am old school. Give me a cd player, am radio for news and fm for music. Give me an input for aux so I can play crappy sounding mp3 and I’m good.

  19. Barry Mumich on November 23, 2020 at 7:25 pm

If it has android auto/Apple carplay, im down for any touchscreen radios because that’s the part of it I use most of the time

  20. Melvin Nix on November 23, 2020 at 7:26 pm

the mistake was not getting an alpine headunit. undisputed king of the ICE world!

  21. Lost Berserker on November 23, 2020 at 7:26 pm

Where do you go from 9 idfk maybe 10?

  22. DestinySH on November 23, 2020 at 7:26 pm

IMHO if you don’t need all the features, the cheap one is good enough.

In defense of the budget unit, I found that it does exactly what I need it to 🙂
    – radio CHECK
    – USB CHECK
    – bluetooth CHECK
It plays music and receives calls (for if anyone EVER calls me)

Volume not an issue, as I tend to be in the car when I’m listening to it, and don’t need to hear it from a block away, nor do I need other people to hear it 😉
    Carplay? No use for it.
"Feel" of the unit? It’s installed, and I never have to pick it up again.
Screen quality? Again, without using carplay etc, the quality is entirely sufficient for my needs.
Build quality can obviously vary, as my touchscreen is just fine.

Just my opinion, but I replaced my dodgy CD head unit with this, and I’m happy 🙂

I just bought the 2nd radio for $350, I’m scheduled to get it installed in a week. I’m so excited

  25. HuntaKiller on November 23, 2020 at 7:29 pm

My 7018B costs $25 brandnew from a local reseller
So far my only issue with it is the no DSP thus shitty radio reception
But good thing it has Bluetooth and i just pair it with my android phone+underseat woofer

Pioneer is always better than Kenwood.

  27. Frank Sz on November 23, 2020 at 7:30 pm

    My mom:
-Can it be turned on or off via a knob and change the volume?
    Yes. ✔
-Does it make a sound on at least 1 speaker?
    Yes ✔
Congratulations. The car has an audio system.

  28. Totyroby on November 23, 2020 at 7:31 pm

lol u cant test headunits with crap speakers

  29. Eric Marcus on November 23, 2020 at 7:31 pm

Actually, having a CD/DVD player is good to have even though you don’t use it that much. Reason I use mine. Sometimes, I like going to the local music store, they carry a lot of stuff even HD Audio DVD/Blu-Ray. And when I pick up a new CD I can play it while I’m driving home. Though when I do get home I rip the CD to both a FLAC file and MP3 file. Having multiple ways to play music in you car is a good thing and there is nothing wrong with having a disc player in your car. Hell I used Cassette until 2001 with a 10 disc changer in the trunk. My band would record our practices onto cassette since it was the easiest way back then and listen back to the music we made.

  30. Frank Sz on November 23, 2020 at 7:31 pm

Unfortunately the real reason behind the ugly and slow interfaces is because we got used to our phones and the software is much better on them than on car head units. Apple and Android poured billions into make the interface silky smooth and well thought out. Definitely not the same situation with car stereo interfaces.
Even factory car head units have ugly fonts, ugly icons and not well designed interfaces. on my 2013 Hyundai, it takes 4 button pushes to get to bass/treble settings, hidden under 3 different menus. I I could have said Chevy or _____ (insert a car manufacturer) . On BMWs, it’s literally a nightmare with settings on top of settings to an endless branch of options piled on top of each other.

  31. Jack Adams on November 23, 2020 at 7:35 pm

I’m far from a pro, but I’ve been installing radios since roughly 2013 and feel slightly qualified discussing them. I’ve had boss, sound stream, SSL, pioneer, kenwood, jvc, and even the cheap o. IMO, kenwood was my least favorite. It had decent sound quality, but was a total pain to navigate. I’ve never had a pioneer let me down and even with their cheaper Walmart touch screen, the quality is great! The touch is responsive, call quality is great, very sturdy, and very simple. I love the audio quality of it, it can even make a low buck set of scosche speakers sound ok. Hands down my favorite head unit of all which I would love to see you try is the Sony XAV series. I’ve bought 2 and have ZERO issues with either. Simple interface, great layout, matte rubber bezel which matches OEM dashes really well as opposed to the glossy black bezel around the screen. Bluetooth connects immediately after initial pairing. It is a CarPlay/ android auto unit for under $250, and works perfect in that department. My only complaint(not a big deal at all) is when your listening to YouTube, there’s a slight disconnect when pausing a song and the radio catching that pause. It has a volume knob, it’s a single din with a double screen, and my most favorite feature which I have yet to see on anything else is the option to import your own wallpaper. For under $250, I don’t think your going to find a better unit with the same features. There’s a CarPlay dual for $200 which looks nice, but after 6 months in my daily the screen started to have issues going black. With a backup camera attached, it started to go black after the camera triggered off and the car had to be shut off to restart the unit.

I just need something that can play my Spotify playlist, I’m working with a Bluetooth speaker right now😭😭

  34. Imdb Truth on November 23, 2020 at 7:39 pm

Y’all fucked this video all up… You should have compared a mid-range Pioneer to a high-end Pioneer, it would be more fair… Kenwood has been making pretty shitty high-end headunits for the last decade. However you didn’t even mention the benefits of the Kenwood, which include a dedicated GPS, more camera inputs, more video inputs/outputs, and most importantly *a built-in Digital Signal Processor* ! People who buy the high-end head headunits are audiophiles! To some people the music in their car isn’t an afterthought, it’s the most important aspect of a car to some people… The Kenwood has a built-in DSP and when tuned properly, it can make shitty OEM speakers sound better than you would’ve imagined. A high-end Pioneer would do the same, but better.

  35. Tiago Bosch Dodero on November 23, 2020 at 7:39 pm

the ranger has been also selling in south america but steel is not as good as de toyota hilux

  36. sikai on November 23, 2020 at 7:41 pm

lmao times new roman and comic sans ahahahahhah

  37. Kurt Wilson on November 23, 2020 at 7:42 pm

If you’re going mid to high end, who runs speakers off the head units amp? What’s the rca voltage output rating on each unit, always run external amplifiers, otherwise keep stock speakers too lol.

  38. Emiliano Consorte on November 23, 2020 at 7:44 pm

    J U S T I C E

  39. MarsInBako on November 23, 2020 at 7:45 pm

Why waste time with that 50 bucks stereo.

  40. Kwathreon on November 23, 2020 at 7:46 pm

"Sound quality – equally good to the others" Yeah… that wouldn’t be quite so accurate if you ran better speakers. A radio can only get the sound out as good as the speakers allow it too. Also, a Lot of the price comes from the rich adjustment features that these highend radios tend to have.

  41. Eric Marcus on November 23, 2020 at 7:48 pm

At the end of the video. Did I read that right with the eBay head unit, MP5???? What the hell???

  42. Eric Ayala on November 23, 2020 at 7:52 pm

Nothing will beat the single din pioneer deh-80prs

  43. Keith Soderlund on November 23, 2020 at 7:54 pm

    Pretty rad gopro mount.

  44. Daniel Katai on November 23, 2020 at 7:55 pm

Try turning on the car when testing sound quality. I once got a cheap head unit that sounded good when the car was not running. Then turned the engine on and the generator noise kept screeching in.

just buy the pioneer they have always been the best

  50. Nazimelon on November 23, 2020 at 8:02 pm

Pioneer imho is among the best for any sort of Headunti because the uppest price-range for aftermarket units is jnust stupid. how many of the "features" are you actually gonna use? and in terms of sound, pioneer speakers are well, decent not great but their headunits generally speaking have pretty amazing included amps. so yea, can definitly recommend.
