    Well am so much in need of one am just saving for that my laptop takes ages to render a color gradeded clips lol but is not funny anyway some times is very frustrating matt

    A few questions: have you tried actually using Premier on a U series processor? The conventional wisdom is that these processors have lower power than their equivalent desktop models. I haven’t used a U series model myself but I don’t feel confident about their 4k handling capability.
    2nd: Gamut coverage is different from accuracy. The display could cover the DCI-P3 Gamut but if the DeltaE values are too high then you can’t grade on that panel. Colour Calibration tools can help a bit but the panel will always inherently remain inaccurate and over time drift towards inaccuracy. Further the worst part is that often the exact panels used change between batches and over time, meaning reviews cannot be trusted to show the colour accuracy.
    These to me are important points.

    I’ve always wanted to do some sort of freelance video editing but just don’t know how to get started.

    Always had a passion for it and taught myself how to use a lot of different software and have had a go at creating motion graphics. Guess it’s always been a hobby of mine want to see if I can turn it into a career

    I need a laptop for school but I also plan on running OBS to stream to twitch with my consoles. But I do plan on editing videos for fish tanks and eventually some traveling and other projects too. Apple has a pretty good student discount so i can probably get the MacBook Air for 10% or whatever too. Thanks for the recommendation! 🙂

    Asus specs are way over promised. I fell for those and my Asus with similar specs to the one mentioned has been a source of daily aggravation. Never mind performance: I couldn’t even install Premiere. Adobe had to remote in and use a special installer. Performance? Crash. Crash. Crash. Look elsewhere for a content creator machine. You get what you pay for.

    I worked in I.T. for a large multi national company and the worse laptops / computers for failing early but just outside of warranty were always HP.

    Matt, thanks for your hard work, it’s obvious.

    Didn’t realize securing an optimal work station/desktop would be so difficult when I upgraded to A7s3 from a much lower end camera.

    I’ve saved, I’m ready, and cost isn’t a huge concern but don’t want to hastily spend.

    Does anyone reading this know if the GPU market will improve soon? Is the scarcity a historical precedent or par for course?

    Perhaps this is naive but…
    can I purchase or build something that allows me to edit premiere and after effects without heavy reliance on using proxies?

    Hi Matt, I was wondering how to replace my working laptop Lenovo Y700-17 (I use it for graphics – I don’t play games) with a new model.
    But I don’t know what to look at, I have already a 27 inch Dell UP2720Q monitor and a separate system unit with Rizen 9.
    I need a laptop with only 17 screens, I took 15.6 top-end Apple Pro (it heats up and makes noise, which is just horrible), sold it!
    I’m looking at Dell G7 17 (7700) on Intel Core i9 NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER.
    For me, the power to work with video work and graphics is important and 100% SRGB, and close ADOBE RGB 100%
    Budget 3000 $

    I paid $1200 for an ASUS laptop 16 gb ram back in 2018, I got the M1 Mac Mini for 699 and it’s way faster in PP.
    I’m a PC/android guy but the Mac Mini has me looking into Apple ecosystem for video editing

    Appreciate the video, but I really have stopped trusting people reading specs without using the actual computer. Since it’s not like “nice burger place” you eat for 1 meal, instead an investment for years, i think it’s a safe rule to abide by.
