Building a New Computer for GIS and Gaming

Building a New Computer for GIS and Gaming

We are starting a new series, building a computer. This video talks about the components we will be using in this new system including:

– NZXT H700i Case
– Ryzen 7 2700x Processor
– ASUS ROG Strix 470X-F Motherboard
– EVGA 850 GP Power Supply
– G Skill Ripsaw DDR 4 3000 RAM
– 970 EVO M.2 Nvme SSD
– RTX 1060 Video Card

Look for future videos showing us unboxing some of the major components so you can see what all is included and why we chose them. Of course we will also show you how we build the system as well. So a lot of fun to come. Almost like Christmas.

Some great choices there! I recently built a PC for GIS use too, maybe I should make a video on that. I would love to see some GIS benchmarks!

This is what I’ve been looking for! I’m using a Strix 3 laptop right now. Do you have any laptop preferences?

    Great video!
What would your recommendations be for some good laptops for gis students/professionals?

Pretty much the only vid on a gis-related pc-build. So glad that someone finally did it. Could you also recommend a decent monitor for professional gis-work?

My budget is at $500 and I can justify goinng to $700. I am a college student going into a more challenging GIS class and need a better computer.

Would a Ryzen 5 2600 + 4 GB GTX 1050Ti setup (+other peripherals) be enough to run ArcGis Pro smoothly?
