The UB5s are excellent speakers, but I find the cabinet ugly as hell.

  2. ELAC on October 13, 2020 at 6:35 pm

So great to see the ELAC Uni-Fi Bookshelf online

  3. Cal Ward on October 13, 2020 at 6:38 pm

I bought this exact setup last year. It is simply outstanding.

  4. Joshua Jones on October 13, 2020 at 6:38 pm

Those are great speakers, I have the UB5 slim series hooked up to a Adcom GFA 555 gen2 series by Nelson Pass(power amp) and on many occasions I literally check to make sure my sub is turned off due to the clean solid bass from these speakers. However when I do turn on my sub you can’t hear it but you definitely feel the presence of other octaves in the music, that’s the beauty of blending your sub with main speakers, full range sound so the illusion is more convincing.

I picked up the UB5’s last year & are powered by the Basx A-100 with schiits modi multi-bit Dac & Mani phono preamp. thanks again for the great reviews ๐Ÿค˜

  6. Brent Peters on October 13, 2020 at 6:39 pm

This looks awesome! What headphone would you pair with the Sprout?

  7. davidsonnow on October 13, 2020 at 6:42 pm

Can someone tell me the name of the turntable in this video?

  8. davidsonnow on October 13, 2020 at 6:42 pm

Can I ask why there was no links to the products mentioned in the video? You guys are running a YouTube channel right?

  9. Johnny Kik on October 13, 2020 at 6:45 pm

it’s cheaper now, speakers are 300 for the pair

  10. Sherryl Keith on October 13, 2020 at 6:46 pm

    Woodprix is nice for that.

  11. Michael G on October 13, 2020 at 6:47 pm

I’m finally learning all the audiophile jargon, but Caleb always does a great job dumbing-down confusing topics. I’m all about audiophile content but sadly I don’t think it generates very many views

  12. plmvirginiauva on October 13, 2020 at 6:48 pm

I honestly don’t understand the return of record players. I can understand SACD and DVD audio but vinyl? That’s like going back to cassette tapes.

  13. bizyz on October 13, 2020 at 6:48 pm

i would spend more by geting a biwirable pair of klipsch bookshelf speakers, and further swap out the turntable with an nad cd player and nad integrated amplifier.

  14. Axl N on October 13, 2020 at 6:49 pm

1000$? That doesn’t even buy a decent cable set!

  15. Robert Borley on October 13, 2020 at 6:50 pm

    More audiophile stuff please!

  16. Tee-Jay The Stereo-Bargain-File on October 13, 2020 at 6:50 pm

    IOTAVX SA3/Klispch 600m done
    Or Emotiva-Stack plus Pioneer Fs52s
This amps transformers are bigger than thay PS-Audio lol and class AB
    Sprout 600.00US elac 550 ?

  17. John sweda on October 13, 2020 at 6:52 pm

No the sprout is not an audiophile amp overpriced for what it is as well. I would say go for the iotavx is a better amp with Poweramp, or audiolab 6000a is about the same price but way better amp by a country mile

  18. SWAPNIL BAHADURE on October 13, 2020 at 6:52 pm

    Its wondrful

  19. Jack Leonard on October 13, 2020 at 6:52 pm

    Love my elacs. Good choices.

  20. Robert Wielinga on October 13, 2020 at 6:54 pm

PS Audio advertises the Sprout100 ELAC system on its website as a package. This will include the B6.2 but I believe they advertised is with the B5 a while ago. So to me it is more of a product placement. A good one, but thatโ€™s not the point here.

  21. Eloy Cavazos on October 13, 2020 at 6:54 pm

Do more speaker, amps, and vinyl set ups!

  22. izzey starz on October 13, 2020 at 6:59 pm

    Hi
I think I’ve seen this video before but just came across it again and so decided to comment since i recently got the Uni-Fi’s. However, i hooked mine up to the Sonos Amp (the Sprout 100 wasn’t available here in South Africa) mainly for two reasons: for the power and the minimalist look (though the Sprout 100 is slicker looking).
What’s your opinion regarding this match up?
I didn’t require a headphone input since i hooked it up to my TV and not my pc (I think this and power is the main difference between the two).

  23. Spunk Nathan on October 13, 2020 at 6:59 pm

Oh scheisse! I was thinking how to get such an awesome turntable setup for 1k๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚
Just get an active from the edifier airpulse series… No more amp, esp if you don’t need a phono

  24. Matthew Davies on October 13, 2020 at 7:00 pm

What would a good FM receiver be for this combo?

  25. Felix Laboy on October 13, 2020 at 7:00 pm

Would you recommend the sprout over a IOTAVXSA3. Iโ€™m not sure what to get.

  26. Vikram Bhaskar on October 13, 2020 at 7:01 pm

those speaker inputs in the amp look a but different? what type of connector is it?

  27. Muzammel Haque Mukul on October 13, 2020 at 7:05 pm

Pls do budget audiophile stuff too. I love that someone mainstream in the tech community pays attention towards audiophile world.

Dump those power hungry crappy Elac and get some Klipsch!!๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿ˜€

  33. Random Tube on October 13, 2020 at 7:13 pm

I like the sprout 100, but since im a bass head audiophile. I found the bass week lacking and not full bodied. I know that I could add a subwoofer with this system. But id rather not if I didn’t have to.

  34. christopher fogarty on October 13, 2020 at 7:14 pm

I respect Calebโ€™s honestly and opinions, and I could listen to Caleb review budget audiophile gear, as well as extreme high end โ€˜unobtainable by the common manโ€™ systems.
Because the vintage market for good gear is exploding, Iโ€™d love to see Caleb review vintage systems of various manufacturers sand price points
It may not fit exactly into the โ€˜Digital โ€˜ part of Digital trends magazine, but imo, it certainly fits in with the โ€˜Trendsโ€™ side of this magazine.
Cโ€™mon Caleb, letโ€™s see a review of, say, a Harman/Kardon reciever, with big Sansui speakers, and top it off with an Elam or JVC turntable!
I think itโ€™d be fun to not only see what vintage gear you put together and review, but to see how it stacks up against a ( vintage price corrected) system of today! Waahoo, go for it!๐Ÿคช๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป

  35. Christopher Tame on October 13, 2020 at 7:14 pm

Love it, great review, thanks for covering this stuff Caleb!

  39. Eric Daniel on October 13, 2020 at 7:20 pm

Is the Sprout really strong enough for those speakers? I’ve not listened to the UB5 (had the Debut B6 and loved it) but I’ve heard they need serious power to sound their best.

  40. Lynn Poole on October 13, 2020 at 7:21 pm

There are so many other integrated amps for around the same price as the Sprout (class D Chinese) to take into consideration.

  41. David Jamison on October 13, 2020 at 7:21 pm

I’m all set with amplifiers. The speakers grabbed my curiosity.

  44. Pentenfi on October 13, 2020 at 7:24 pm

A few weeks back I wanted a new headset for my computer. That lead me studio – and/or HiFi – headphones. That lead me here. Now I am checking amp and speaker tests daily. Things escalated quickly….:D
Anyways, thank you very much. As an absolute beginner this is exactly what I need.
