Really want to start out with a HT that is triband that has a digital screen similar to Kenwood but don’t need a $500 radio. Looked at Anytone only dual band but like that radio. Any suggestions for HT triband with APRS with a TNC. Want to have capability to text on radio, for example. Maybe some data transmission. This will likely be the only radio I ever get as I’m not looking to get crazy in HF. Thoughts? Maybe a pipe dream….

  9. Jim Marcum on April 26, 2021 at 5:36 am

Sherwood reports are overrated, what really counts are what the end users think.

  10. Hull Defilade on April 26, 2021 at 5:38 am

Love the channel and new to HAM radio. Watched your 3 part technicians course and passed my test two weeks ago so thank you guys very much. Question, I bought a Baofeng BF-A58 as a starter radio and because I was able to find a PTT cable system to connect that radio to my headset. If I were to upgrade in the future do you know of an HT that would have the same multi pin connector as the BF-A58? Cables weren’t cheap and Id like to be able to carry them over if possible

in public safety… because government knows now budgetary restraint. 🤣

I’ll shove any old brand into my shack if it tickles my fancy. I have zero loyalty. I’m just a ham-ho 😊

  20. Martin Cvitkovich on April 26, 2021 at 5:57 am

If I need to plug a radio into a computer, I’ll just keep my Kenwood TS120S. I have 250 dollars invested in it

  21. Vince on April 26, 2021 at 6:01 am

    I received a 7300 for xmas about a week ago….goes well with my 7100 🙂

  22. feasibletrash0 on April 26, 2021 at 6:02 am

made in China does not mean made in China, it means manufactured or assembled in China, virtually all designs and IP is American or European etc.; so whether made in China or not, it does not matter, if it’s made by a Chinese company for a Chinese company, then that is something else entirely

  23. Fmamarksman on April 26, 2021 at 6:07 am

I wish icom would make a replacement for the 7100 that had all the same bands and everything, but with the modern waterfall. That would be the only radio worth having in a vehicle.

  24. Joe Framo on April 26, 2021 at 6:10 am

    Shut up just sit down

  25. Sigitas Stasaitis on April 26, 2021 at 6:11 am

  30. Terri Light on April 26, 2021 at 6:16 am

This is exactly the video I needed right now. I was keeping an eye on several used radios on ebay and they seem to have all sold today. I am a brand new tech with zero equipment and near zero budget. I am wondering should I just do the HamSphere 4.0 for a year or so or until I get my general. Any hints? I am really looking forward to getting on 6m when I am able! That’s my dream frequency!

  31. Kristyanna Virgona - N6KV on April 26, 2021 at 6:16 am

  37. haywoodyoudome on April 26, 2021 at 6:24 am

Radios starting at $1,000 aren’t exactly "beginner" level. I guess not feeding your kids is a thing in Texas.
