For a list of Kanto speakers as well as other comparable speakers, check the description below⬇︎.

Are you a lover of music? Got a brand new turntable for 2019 and don’t know what speakers to get? The YU6 speakers also make great desktop speakers. Since they are powered speakers, you won’t need a receiver so this makes your desktop audio setup easy. The YU6 are affordable speakers and great in small and medium rooms. These speakers have been our go-to monitors for editing all of our YouTube videos. Check out my review of the Kanto YU6 powered monitor loudspeakers, they may just be ALL the speaker you need.

POST REVIEW NOTE: I get asked all the time which speaker is better? The YU6 or the TUKs. In my opinion, I prefer the YU6 speakers over the Kanto TUK. The best value speaker (in my opinion) from Kanto Audio right now is the YU speaker (https://bit.ly/YUdesk) – our current video mixing desk speaker setup.

  2. Craig Claeys on April 12, 2021 at 4:39 am

Thanks for review. Ordered Kanto speakers and a U-Turn Orbit Custom turntable. Looking forward to simple set up with high utility.

  3. Miguel Contreras on April 12, 2021 at 4:40 am

These are great speakers with fantastic sound for the size. I bought the YU4 which is a smaller model but not by much, still with the same sound qualities as the YU6. Currently used for home office connected to my laptop with a Dragon Fly Cobalt DAC and my iPod through the 3.5 mm connector. As indicated by Andrew, they are great for daily use such as for streaming or connected to any other device such as an iPod or a turntable.

Doah…..can’t resist going in guest / workout room.

Really torn between the Kanto yu 4’s and the Edifier R2000DB. Which would you guys pick?

  6. Magnus Óli on April 12, 2021 at 4:44 am

  7. t9yt on April 12, 2021 at 4:45 am

Nice reveiew 👍 Interested to see how it compares with Edifier S3000 pro. Please review Edifier S3000 pro if possible 🙂

After watching this video more than 8 times, I finally bought them and got them before Xmas, and let me tell you, these powered speakers took my vinyl collection and movies into another audio dimension. Thank you AR for this review!

    These speakers suck canal water!

How does a man manage to do so many speaker reviews without giving the viewers a taste of the sound!?? LOL…Genius.

    Vintage gear vs modern?
I recently i acquired my father’s hifi gear.: a pair of b&w dm220’s, a sanyo tp 1030 um turntable with a at3600l cartridge and a sherwood ax 7030 r receiver. The sound is warm and i like it but I’m curious how it compares to a "modern" system like a pair of Kanto yu6 speakers with or without a subwoofer. Any suggestions?

  14. Aljosa Katic on April 12, 2021 at 4:51 am

Is it possible to adjust the volume on the speakers from the TV remote, if your connect these to the TV via an optical cable? Greetings from Denmark.

  15. Jack Florio on April 12, 2021 at 4:52 am

Has any similar small bookshelf/large desktop active bluetooth capable speaker under $400 surpassed this or is this still your #1 recommendation for this purpose?

  16. amo757 on April 12, 2021 at 4:53 am

Would these work in a dusty environment, in my case a woodworking shop?

  17. Gasho Simon on April 12, 2021 at 4:53 am

What do u think about the Klipsch R-51PM ?

  18. George Oschal on April 12, 2021 at 4:53 am

Like you Andrew I’m a recovering audiophile. I was into the hobby big time in the 80’s and 90’s. I had about $15k to $20k invested in my system during those years. I kinda lost interest in the hobby but still have all my equipment. I was looking for a set of powered bluetooth speakers for my office and saw your review of these speakers. I did some more research and bought them. I’ve had them for a week now and I’m frankly stunned by the sound quality. These speakers have pretty much everything except the lowest bass and anyone can add one of Kanto’s subs if they want to. Frankly I don’t see the need for my purposes. In any event your review was spot on. I really love these speakers. Thanks for letting me know about these gems.

  19. Raysel Perez on April 12, 2021 at 4:54 am

Which one would u choose the yu6 or r51pm from klipsch

  20. JGBLADES on April 12, 2021 at 4:57 am

There is a man in the industry producing far better audio at a far better price. He often runs out of supply so I am hesitant to drop a name. He opens up some of these speakers Andrew suggests. And realizes more times than not they utilize very cheap parts. Apparently iron and cheap caps are not doing these speakers the justice they deserve.

  21. Skate Archive on April 12, 2021 at 4:59 am

    This review was phenomenal

  22. Mike Ciccolella on April 12, 2021 at 4:59 am

    Hey Andrew,

Thank you for your amazing stories and fantastic content! A new subscriber that’s binge-watching. I appreciate your authenticity, candid, and different perspective from many other reviewers. Your knowledge base is huge in comparison to mine and others when it comes to a/v.

For 2.1 setups in home offices or studios, some seem to suggest keeping speakers off the desk because of unwanted reflections, vibrations, and poor sound quality. Yet, I see you don’t have any stands under your Kanto YU6 desktop speakers when they have small ( 2" high, 6" high, or 9" high) stands and other stands desktop stands are touted such as IsoAcoustics and Soundrise. Why is that? Or, should the speakers be completely off the desk on separated floor stands behind the desk?

Also, I watched your video about crawling around the room for the best subwoofer placement. Makes sense. What are your thoughts on elevating the subwoofer 12" – 40" off the ground on a stand depending upon room dimensions, etc.?

Thanks again. Keep up the great work!

P.S. Would love to see a budget 2.1 (Edifier S350DB 2.1, Logitech – Z625 2.1, Klipsch ProMedia 2.1, Mackie, etc.) comparison review or text opinion.

400 is starter 😅… wallet immediately starts crying

  24. Valerio A on April 12, 2021 at 5:01 am

Hi, can you use them also as passive speakers? Thanks

  25. wantedwaffle3313 on April 12, 2021 at 5:02 am

how is 400 a budget buy oof

  26. BigQ Sneaks on April 12, 2021 at 5:03 am

    how is the Bluetooth quality?

  27. Jonathan H on April 12, 2021 at 5:06 am

I’m putting my u-turn orbit in a pretty small room. Either a 12’x15’ or a 20’x15’. Do you think the Yu4 would be fine for me to get?

  28. Anthony Lemma on April 12, 2021 at 5:07 am

Been looking at getting some new speakers since doing some looking at some things on Reddit that my vintage Pioneer floor speakers aren’t really the best over all. Debating about getting some book shelf speakers since the bass and low frequency of my Pioneers can be heard through the upstairs..granted, I don’t have a subwoffer and my equalizer is set in the middle and my volume is at normal levels…and at this point, may just put the book shelf speakers on top of my floor speakers, Here’s another thing, I actually like the big floor speakers, I think they look rad.

  29. Daniel on April 12, 2021 at 5:08 am

could you recommend the best possible sounding speaker in the sub 50€ category, i would opt for the anker soundcore 2 or the logitech z333

  30. Rui Dias on April 12, 2021 at 5:13 am

ok, in portugal minimum wage is 610 euros. these cost almost 400 euros
    "budget" is really relative xD

  31. Marvin Flores on April 12, 2021 at 5:14 am

I’m getting a high pitch noise when I connect the optical cable from the tv to the KantoYu6. I tried the same optical cable with a soundbar and it works well. Any suggestions?

  32. Gurkirpal Singh on April 12, 2021 at 5:14 am

Hi Andrew….. Which DAC would you recommend :

    1) RME ADI-2 DAC FS
    2) Denafrips Puntos
    3) Topping D 90

or else I have the option to get QConcept 20s with Denon PMA 600NE

or Get a Pair of Klipsch the fives with one of the above DACS

I am new to this hobby and all the above options are making me go crazy.

Current Setup: KantoYu6 , Topping D10s with Tidal on PC. My current setup is placed in a small to medium room and these will be connected to my Desktop PC always.

  33. Tõnis Rand on April 12, 2021 at 5:17 am

    400 USD is "budget"?

  34. W1llSki11z on April 12, 2021 at 5:18 am

I couldn’t agree more. My daughter expressed an interest in vinyl and that’s all it took. After a little research, I had her setup with a Pro-Ject Debut Carbon turntable and a pair of YU4’s. The system sounds great!

  35. Dean Mignola on April 12, 2021 at 5:19 am

Ordered mine a couple days ago and this review helped me make the decision. Thanks!

  36. harish1255 on April 12, 2021 at 5:19 am

I listen to music more and it seems even the very expensive soundbars dont sound good…. musically. They’re phenomenal for movies but music not so much. So, this is a great solution. Although i’m wondering if a sub is required ?

I bought these based on advice from Andrew! Never satisfied with any of the soundbars. Waiting to try these out!

  37. Tom Kershaw on April 12, 2021 at 5:20 am

I think my wife would like these speakers. Thanks Andrew!

Just ordered these. Very exited 😄😄

  39. Joe Foley on April 12, 2021 at 5:21 am

Do you know if it matters whether you’re in phono or line when listening on Bluetooth? Don’t want to damage my turntable or the speakers by switching to the line setting

I have a Crosley McQueen all in one entertainment center. Is it possible to use these speakers with that portable set up?

  43. GuysMcFellas on April 12, 2021 at 5:28 am

I feel like one persons "budget" is slightly different than another’s…
Budget speakers, to me, are about $100.

  44. claus_z1 warum on April 12, 2021 at 5:29 am

your thoughts sound very compelling, too good to be true. Unfortunately my iPhone does not support aptx, nor does the YU6 support AAC. What now?

  45. Avinash K on April 12, 2021 at 5:30 am

Thanks Andrew, Is Kanto YU6 better than Marshall Woburn II ? I am planning to get a Woburn II for my living room connected to TV. Let me know your expert advise

  46. elizabeth olsen on April 12, 2021 at 5:32 am

Hey just so we’re clear, initially you called these studio monitors. Are these studio monitors or entertainment speakers?

  47. Jason C on April 12, 2021 at 5:32 am

How do these stack up against the offerings from Audioengine? They also have many great powered bookshelf speakers.

  48. tburrell73 on April 12, 2021 at 5:33 am

AR. I heard that the YU6 was being discontinued and now it looks like you can’t find them anywhere. Do you know if that’s the case?
