Hello!
Today we’re going to talking all the different tablets that I’ve used throughout art school to being a self-employed illustrator. XP-Pen very kindly sent me their Innovator16 anniversary edition drawing tablet to review so I thought it would be fun to compare it to the tablets I currently use for my professional work. If you have any more questions about tablets, feel free to ask them below! Lots of love, Apple Cheeks.

I was so close to getting an Innovator 16 but I opted for the XP-Pen Deco Pro, less cords and I want to look up at my monitor, not down, trying to fix my posture.

Researching for my 14yo aspiring artist daughter. Thanks for the intro. She has a MacBook so the Innovator 16 may be an option for her. Love how you did the stripes on the dress multiple times — I see the appeal! 👌🏼

Hey I have a question, I have a StarG640S and I use it with my phone. I often plug and unplug the tablet to store it somewhere, so do you think that is bad for the tablet? Should I just keep the USB plug in and store it just like that…. I scared that if I keep doing that the USB hole(don’t know its name) would get too loose overtime…..

i really, really want a drawing tablet but i feel bad bc i already have an ipad my parents got me with an apple pencil. they spent like 600$ on me and now i want something that could cost 100$-1000$. thats why i want something i can buy by myself but they all seem pretty weird for under 50$. so, can someone help me? i want a layout similar to a wacom intuos draw (which is 100$ for a used on amazon sadly), small, cheap, accessible with buttons (the wacom intuos draw has buttons at the top so easily reachable for me), and sturdy. thanks and have a good 24 hours
edit: im thinking about getting a xp-pen sometime, the layout is nice

  23. dawniewow on August 18, 2021 at 10:31 pm

if you want the same screen protector on your ipad, order a replacement in their website, and then cut it using an ipad screen template, then apply it! and there you go! 😀

  24. Ayyayyron on August 18, 2021 at 10:31 pm

Hey, I have this tablet and sometimes the pen point isn’t accurate to where I’m pointing on the screen. It’s sometimes off by a few centimeters. I usually have to restart my laptop, mess around with the PenTablet screen settings, and open my drawing software (Krita) again to fix the problem. Is my tablet bugged or is there a way to fix this?

  25. J on August 18, 2021 at 10:32 pm

I’m so glad I stumbled across this video omg thank you so much
I’ve heard that some tablets don’t work with the new macbook pros and I was so worried to buy one

  29. Neimy Kanani on August 18, 2021 at 10:38 pm

The extra plug makes the screen brighter! If you only use the computer power, it’s a bit more dim. Also I recommend no touch because having touch was annoying when I used the wacom companion haha

  30. JC on August 18, 2021 at 10:42 pm

Hi, would totally appreciate your response on this one. So, ive been buying xp pen products lately and am very very keen on the pen pressure. I noticed that most of the xp pen products ive used esp compared to wacom ones has pen sensitivity issues where it doesnt register properly on very mild strokes.

One easy trick i use to determine if the pen pressure is bad is i just hold the pen to its back end and just drag it all over the screen surface without any real intended pressure and just let gravity make the nib touch the surface and do random lateral movements with it.

With that, i notice the strokes i do doesnt register to the canvas im drawing on, compared to wacom tablets. Question, do you experience that kind of dilemma on your innovator 16 tablet? Thank you

what drawing tablet and software did you use?

  35. Oozaru85 on August 18, 2021 at 10:48 pm

I realy hope the Innovator is not a direct successor to the Artist tablets, because I really don’t like this new design. Thats why in the end I got me the Artist 15.6 Pro instead. And I love it. I hope they’ll release a 1440p version of the Artist 15.6 Pro, that would be awesome.

Oof i only draw on phone and i have a huge hand so rip me

  40. Darkeshi on August 18, 2021 at 10:53 pm

the other usb (red one) is meant to be used with the wall plug adapter, so it gives proper energy, if you only connect it to the pc it will work but the brigthness gonna be reduced quite a lot

  41. Paloma Blanca on August 18, 2021 at 10:54 pm

    Is that only for drawing?

  42. Louisse Ang on August 18, 2021 at 10:54 pm

so you can’t use procreate in the xp pen?

  43. sami saleh on August 18, 2021 at 10:54 pm

Between XP-Pen Innovator 16 and XP-Pen Artist 15.6 Pro, which one is better than the other ?

  45. LadyTanglepath on August 18, 2021 at 10:56 pm

I had a Bamboo Fun too. Hand crampy really. Best for quick notes and signatures more than drawing probably. (Still have it in put away in a box after upgrading)

After that was a 1060 Ugee and now my main is XP-Pen 15.6 Pro.

  46. Manrock1 on August 18, 2021 at 10:58 pm

Getting this soon myself! And the second USB I believe is for more power, with just one in it won’t get quite as bright!

  47. Gabriel Tobing on August 18, 2021 at 10:59 pm

    13:33 That was a pretty dark… joke…

    Dang.

  49. 橙橙_Athie on August 18, 2021 at 11:03 pm

Artstudio pro is a good program between ps and procreate

  50. Urooj Fatima on August 18, 2021 at 11:03 pm

I don’t know anything about the drawing tablets but I think the other usb is prob for charging the tablet(if it works on battery) or for power when you don’t want it to use your laptop/desktop’s power while using it.
