I am having to replace my 23 yr old coil top stove. I don’t want glass top or induction top. I won’t give up my cast iron pans.

Now I would be just as happy with a gas cook top but no natrual gas lines down my road and installing a propane tank, plus running the lines, etc. is cost prohibitive for me at this point. This is especially true for me as renting a gas tank from "ABC" company means you can only buy gas from the company. Being forced to get my electricity from only one company, as well as my DSL, really gripes me.

Range manufacturers seem to be phasing out coil top ranges and the pickings are really slim. I also want a slide in or drop in as I don’t like the knobs at the back of the stove nor do I want the "stick up in the back" construction that most free standing stoves have. I want my knobs on the front as I resent getting steam burns while reaching for the knobs on the back. And if one should have a grease fire, being able to turn off the burner is important. Or at least that is my opinion.

I don’t want to pay for gadgetry that I have no use for. Like sabbath mode, or wi-fi controls. I just want a white, well made stove that’s reliable and consistant. Why can’t any company make stainless steel drip pans or white porcelain clad drip pans?

I know I am looking for something that no longer exist. Like a pair of blue jeans that actually hang straight. I love jeans that have been pressed and creased. Yea…. I’m that old.

Glass top are not good for house holds with children. My sister’s kids threw toys around and had to replace the glass stove twice, third time she just got a gas stove with 6 burners..

Do you ship? If so what is the cost to ship a free standing smooth top range to 98639?

How come you’re not talking about what a nightmare it is to keep a glasstop clean?

    Glass tops are MISERABLE !!!!!!!!!!!!
Coil stoves have MORE, not less power.
It takes longer to boil water on a glass top.
Pots and pans SPIN around on a Glass top.
Glass tops are much harder to clean because the food burns onto the surface.
On a glass top , the whole top surface of the stove gets to hot to put ANYTHING on, let alone a Childs hands.
Save yourself a lot of grief , DON’T buy a glass top stove !!! I have used both types for years and coil types are far better in ALL ways.

Coil top stoves has never been a thing here in Europe, or at least not my country. Instead we have had these stoves with permanently mounted cast iron plates witch, if they break, are a pain to replace and people tend to replace the whole thing instead. Usually it’s the other way around with our parts of the world…

I LOVE my coils. Had them for over 20 years. Not one repair call, they still get super hot and the heat stays consistent. Don’t have to worry about scratching the glass. Easy to clean just remove the drip pans and wash. The only thing is they look very old fashioned. Wish someone could design a coil top that look like the grates on a gas top to make it look modern.

Smooth top is like a small WiFi tower. because of elecromagnetic radiation coming out of this. Please, do your own research .

I grew up with glass tops and apart from accidentally melting plastic from time to time, I really loved it. They’re much easier to clean. I had gas when I got married and it was cool but it took forever to boil, why? It’s fire…shouldn’t it boil the quickest? And then when we rented our first place we had to use coil and it is the worst in my opinion. It’s so hard to keep clean and it Never cooks evenly. Now we are buying a house and it has a gas line. I don’t want gas but I think I might have to get it anyway. All I want is a range that works, that my toddler can’t touch the knobs on, is easy to clean, and cooks evenly, and is affordable. Knowing me I’ll get all excited about one and completely forget an important detail and wind up with a useless appliance. Thank you for the review. I am glad to know that the glass top is better with kids. Now I need to know if I can still get an electric one even though I have a gas hookup.
