I would add to that. Workstations use raid controller for storage. To get redundant storage. A Raid 1 configuration will use at least two hard desks each one is a mirror of other. So if one of them stopped working you will not lose any data and your work will not stop.

Connecting to multi network is sometimes required so they will have multi nic cards, and you can forget about wireless network for workstations.

Also, they may have redundant power supply.

And they uses high quality material for case. I am talking about heavy material. To stand the harsh environment

Watching this on my raspberry pi *hmmm, yes*

Workstation GPU’s are designed to crunch double precision numbers, which are more frequently used in CAD.
In Games the GPU’s that overhead is useless, which is why they’re not as suitable for that application.

They’re also more overbuilt and have more refined drivers, to ensure compatibility with CAD software.

    workstation = gaming PC

  5. Rosy Cheeks on August 14, 2021 at 9:53 pm

What do you call a pc that combines both?

  6. Davide Livia on August 14, 2021 at 9:56 pm

I’m looking to build my own… so I can combine the two! For 3D modelling ex. (
Revit Autodesk) and multiplayers games (Call of duty)… any suggestions that I can get would be great! Not really looking at a budget but eventually I will narrow it down to what best for both…

    Personal story.
Since I started school, I really wanted a computer good enough to play the things I like, being at the time PS2 games….so I was trying to emulate…on the old one. As you can guess didn’t work out. I was like this for a long time….until I decided to buy something new… so I looked, and I found Workstation HP Z400, 6core intel xeon 2.67GHz,8GB RAM,Nvidia GeForce 605 1GB with shared 4GB more…some crazy stuff…. this workstation costed me 270LV(~135$)…. Never knew though the real difference between them so…thanks for the video.

Are workstations good at running Roblox?

  10. whoofle on August 14, 2021 at 10:00 pm

And if you’re really broke you can just attach a monitor to a 9 year old laptop so you feel like you’re playing on a pc!

  11. evifnoskcaj on August 14, 2021 at 10:01 pm

Now it’s considerably cheaper to use workstations, especially refurbished ones. Workstation graphics cards are now very affordable compared to standard desktop cards.

3-4 years ago i really like gaming but; Now i am in graduation and working too so i just made my pc with nvidia quadro rtx4000 and ryzen 7 3700x before that i mostly used laptops now when i work on my pc it is like super easy and not lagging even a bit. But due to lock down because of covid i play sometime with friends but not like extreme so a decent frame rate of 100-140 this setup provides me which is very much for me and now to be conclude I would suggest you to build a pc with quadro p4000 or less its same or cheaper nowadays and really you will not find anything missing. According to my work its super great. And as i said i am in graduation 2nd year work is important for me. You can take low end quadro cards and learn though them and afterwards you can switch to any other if you want later. But trust me you can barely say its not for gaming. But yes if you only do gaming its not for you.

  13. Nettlewood on August 14, 2021 at 10:03 pm

If you have a high end gaming pc, would it be a good workstation pc? :0 ( like let’s say threadripper ) not that I can afford that GAHDGAHDB just dreaming

  18. Inayahイナヤ on August 14, 2021 at 10:09 pm

I’m a computer science (AI) student at university, I’m a console gamer so I don’t need the PC to be good for gaming. Should I still get a gaming set up or a workspace set up? I’m not trying to break the bank here (• ▽ •;)

  19. Reza Reyes on August 14, 2021 at 10:12 pm

    Best cpus for purposes:
    Ryzen 7 3700X: best gaming
Ryzen 5 3600: best budget gaming
I5 10400f: best alternative budget gaming
    Ryzen 9 3900x : best cheap workstation
    Threadripper 2950x: best workstation
Threadripper 3990x: best budget for servers
    Xeon processors: best for servers

Comment down below if there are more best intel processors

  20. Inayahイナヤ on August 14, 2021 at 10:12 pm

Could one put a GPU and a CPU together? I’m a computing student but I’m also slowly getting into PC gaming and I want to build by one set up soon.

  21. Love Kush on August 14, 2021 at 10:18 pm

Gaming GPUs have more Cuda cores than workstation GPUs

  22. Lucky Patrick on August 14, 2021 at 10:19 pm

Do you have a workstation pc build?

  23. Gb J on August 14, 2021 at 10:20 pm

May sound dumb but why cant the basic workstation have two gpus? When the game runs it will access the gaming gpu. And when processing for workstation it will use the other gpu.. two in one?

  27. Dimitris on August 14, 2021 at 10:23 pm

Lol 1:00 my workstation :D. I bought it from ebay around 500 euros 4 years ago and I’m telling you guys it was the wisest decision I’ve ever made in my life . It’s a monster.
And I just realised I’m rendering a full scene at blender almost six hours now and handles everything so smooth that I totally forgot it. 10 years ago this beast cost about 15.000 dollars.
    And a little tip.
Do you see the green marks on the handles? These means you can remove it. Everything else must be done by a technician.

  35. Antonis Kouros on August 14, 2021 at 10:30 pm

    You still don’t get it!
The problem is not to help a rich gamer boy to find one more choice to spend thousands of dollars or euros for games, but to help a new/young scientist or a student or an independent designer or a small technical office to maximize the profit when he spends his litle money to buy something very good and cheap!

Wow this video is very outdated. 16 GB is never overkill in this decade. It’s standard now.

  46. New England on August 14, 2021 at 10:42 pm

Both are very powerful machines but both power are designed for a specific reason.
WORKSTATION is like your 18 wheeler. Has Tons of Power. Pretty boring looking.
GAMING PC is like your Ferrari. It too has tons of power. Very pleasing to look at.

  48. Jonathan Solis on August 14, 2021 at 10:43 pm

Work station is like The Bat-mobile and Gamer PC is like a Porsche, one is build to be driven hard and everywhere, and the other just fast, but the Bat-Mobile can take you on roofs 🙂
