These also great intelligence gathering machines, India very effectively used in Ladakh to spy on China. Though built mainly for submarine hunting in maritime arena can be used very effectively in land areas also for intelligence gathering, awesome technology. When it comes to defense technology the USA is real boss.
My dad was a p-3 pilot up in Brunswick Maine up until the p-8 entered survive and the Brunswick base was closed
I flew from Sydney Australia to Bali Indonesia and it was really comfortable. Obviously not as spacious as a big 747 or Airbus A380. But ok for a 6 hour trip.
Unfortunately we didn’t have munitions to fire off in the atmosphere for entertainment.
So movie had to do. 😁

I flew on the P-3 update C in the 80s it was an awesome 2,500 hours of patrol duties! I re-live those days often. Sad to see them go but the P-8 seems equally exciting. I hope to take a ride one day. It’ll be on my bucket list!!
Overconfidence always leads to a loss. America, stop being over confident. We rely on technology too much in my opinion. Our military is where it needs to be. We need extreme focus on cyber attacks & hackers. Our dependence on tech is our greatest weakness & russia& china know that for sure. The P-8 could easily drop bunker buster ordnance on the runways of all Chinese militarized islands in the SCS which would neutralize their usefulness. If war breaks out they could sweep the pacific of enemy subs.

I wonder what the Navy is using as a sub chaser that launches off aircraft carrier. They used S3, A6, E3. I think S3 was the sub chaser, and E3 was electronic warfare, the A6 I’m not sure what it was mainly used to do. (I was mechanic in an A7 squadron)

I worked at an airbase where we had the P-3’s and they seemed to be nice, but I never got to to inside one of them. The P-8 have to be much better and have much more equipment to even destroy enemy targets using weapons which can be carried on this airplane.
