Sound bars are good if you don’t have the room. Plus they can be a little cheaper.

I HATE FENCE SITTERS. YOU DID NOTHING BUT PROVE MY LOGIC FOR BUYING AUDIO RECEIVERS!

MY CURRENT RECEIVER IS AROUND 15 YEARS OLD. IT STILL HAS MORE RELEVANT PORTS THAN MOST SOUND BARS. NOT TO MENTION 7.1 SURROUND.

YOU ARE LEAVING OUT SO MUCH.

    1. A CHEAP RECEIVER WILL HAVE 5X THE FEATURES OF A EXPENSIVE SOUND BAR.
    2. HAVING A SOUND BAR "EMULATE" REAR SOUND IS A JOKE. THAT IS LIKE UPSCALING 4K VS ACTUAL 4K.
    3. If one speaker breaks in a sound bar the whole thing is USELESS. I had a speaker get damaged, and because I own a reciever, I just replaced the SINGLE SPEAKER.
    4. The wire arguement doesn’t work. If you do it right you WILL NOT SEE THE WIRES. Even if you do it is only the amount that connects to the speaker BEFORE IT IS HIDDEN.
    5. It doesn’t save the space you claim it does. You have a 5 foot bar vs a 2×2 square
    6. There is a ton more pride in setting up a audio reciever, you need to run each speaker, mount them, and set each one up (allowing for fine tuning). Any jerk can setup a sound bar.

Sound bars do have some purpose.
    1. People who want to pretend to care about audio and/or know the tv speaker is trash.
2 people who are not smart enough to know how to run wires and hide them like a professional.
    3. People who simply can drill into the walls or mount them, because they live in an apartment (MOST REASONABLE REASON AND DESERVE TO NOT BE MADE FUN OF FOR OWNING A SOUND BAR).

In a smaller living room or den with all the new Atmos sounds flying around I find the sound bar to be better.
