COVERAGE (AT&T)
This is a close call. But ultimately AT&T beats out T-Mobile when it comes to 4G AND 3G coverage. Our latest data shows us ATT 3G covers 71.18% of the US and 4G covers 69.19% of the US where T-Mobile 3G covers 71.18% and 4G covers 63.2%. T-Mobile coverage is lacking on the west coast in Montana, Nevada, Colorado, Washington, Idaho and parts of California. AT&T has blank spots in the same states but they aren’t as apparent.
you can see the difference is very small and T-Mobile is quickly gaining ground on AT&T BUT for the moment, AT&T gets the gold star here. Next we’re comparing plans!
PLANS (AT&T)
All T-Mobile unlimited plans have a data deprioritization of 50GB which is awesome! Deprioritization means your data may slow only during times of congestion on the network.
When it comes to hotspot, T-Mobile’s cheapest unlimited plan Essentials ($60/Mo), you get a 3G 10GB hotspot, with the next higher plan Magenta ($70/Mo), you get 3GB of 4G hotspot. With T-Mo’s most expensive plan Magenta Plus ($85/mo) you get 20GB of 4G hotspot use.
If you’re looking for plan options… T-Mobile has 7 to choose from. 4 are postpaid, three are prepaid.
With AT&T’s cheapest unlimited plans, Unlimited starter ($65/Mo) you get no hotspot and data slows during congestion. The next plan, Unlimited Extra ($75/Mo) gets you 15GB hotspot and a 50GB deprioritization threshold, that’s better than T-Mobile’s comparable Mangental plan. AT&T’s last unlimited plan, Unlimited Elite ($85/Mo) gets you 30GB hotspot and a deprioritization threshold of 100 GB which is better than T-Mobile’s Magenta plus.
If you’re looking for a variety of plans and different options, AT&T offers 15 different plans, 7 are prepaid and 8 are postpaid.
AT&T beats out T-Mobile in plan options and unlimited plan offers, so they get the gold star here. Next up is pricing
PRICE (T-MOBILE)
When comparing pricing, T-Mobile and AT&T are nearly identical, buuuutttttt T-Mobile is the winner here. When it comes to unlimited plans, T-Mobile’s Essential and Magenta are just $5 cheaper than AT&T’s comparable Starter and Extra plans. T-Mobile is also generally cheaper when compared to the rest of each carrier’s plans. So T-Mobile gets the gold star here. Next up data speeds!
DATA SPEEDS (TIE)
To compare data speeds and data consistency we’re turning to Ookla who tested over 4.1 billion devices in order to find the fastest the best carrier speeds. They found that AT&T is faster than T-Mobile with an average data speed of 32.91 Mbps compared to T-Mobile who came in second at 30.95 Mpbs. HOWEVER T-Mobile just BARELY beat out AT&T for data consistency. Ookla found T-Mobile users report 86.9% consistency where AT&T users report 85.9% consistency so we’re calling this one a tie and giving a gold star to both carriers.
PERKS (T-MOBILE)
Perks are any extras or add-ons that you get for free with your cell phone plan. You get the most perks with the most expensive plans, then the perks taper down with cheaper plans.
T-Mobile offers so many perks it would be a mouth full to say them all some of my favorites are free Wi-Fi on gogo enabled flights, unlimited HD streaming, and worldwide data coverage and texting… the data is technically 2G speeds, but it’s free, so i’ll take it!
AT&T can’t really compete with T-Mobile’s perks… their best perk at the moment is a free HBO subscription. Because of that, T-Mobile gets the gold star here.

Listen Att, you guys should be worring about your existing clients and the billing issues you can’t seen to fix since June 2020! Charging me for a phone that I returned and still are charging for, I have call you guys like 47 times, spoken to 24 different representatives including a few managers which none seem to fix. I’ve had them both here (premium unlimited) in Deerfield Beach South Florida and I choose T-Mobile. Certainly the T-Mobes is faster.

Yeah im on Tmobile for now but for the past few months been trying to get my friends off my plan which I did but they are still having "trouble" getting his devices off of my account I pay over 280 a month with my military plan and even though my friends devices are on my account they still charge him 230 a month so I am thinking of switching over to AT&T or verizon if I have to.
They better cover tv wifi and Internet

T-Mobile is no contract. At&t want you sign a 2 year contract. T-Mobile prepaid plans are better than At&t. They have a plan call simply prepaid. Which I have is $50. For that you get unlimited data capped at 50gb. And unlimited hotspot at 3g speed. At&t doesn’t offer that on any their prepaid plans. At&t signal are usually bad too compare to T-Mobile. My brother have a iPhone from At&t which only gets 1or 2 bars of signal. I have a Revvl 5g from T-Mobile,I’m getting 4 or 5 bars. T-Mobile is definitely better than At&t.
T-Mobile is a good carrier until you’re in a concrete or metal building 🙃

Ive had a cell since 2000. Started with the OLD AT&T on a flip phone. Added someone to my account and they ran up a huge bill so was forced to migrate to Mobile. At the time in my state (Maine) tmo had NO coverage on the highway or outside od any city. Years after i got scun on my old AT&T bill i filed bankruptcy in 2009 and when the dust cleared from that i was able to get back with AT&T for all of a $100.00 deposit. The quality in signal was amazing leaving T-Mobile. All this being said its all about where you live and what towers are where and whether your on post paid or prepaid because post paid roams where prepaid doesnt. Yes AT&T customer service isnt as warm and fuzzy as tmobiles but i rarely have to call and do enjoy my superior signal here in my home state as opposed to Tmobiles that although today is much better still isnt great

I have AT&T. T-Mobile coverage sucks
It’s 2021, a year later and t-mobile is rolling out their 5G. With converting their Sprint towers over and upgrading 4G to 5G it can be a mess. The performance is terrible and customer service will lead you down the road with “soon to be upgraded towers” near you. I’m trying to get by with a stand alone unlimited iPad plan from AT&T until they get this done as the price for the 100G for $50 is outstanding, so I’ll give them time as I should have expected as much as the 100G home Plan is not in my area yet. I should have taken that as a hint that they didn’t have 5G but was counting that the 4G would perform ok in the mean time, not figuring they would screw with that while upgrading. It was offered for a limited time so the plan might not be available had I waited. So I’m fine with having both as backups to each other, as I would have spent that much on a none performing Comcast internet anyway.
In majority of your excellent presentation the differences are not significant and almost any confidence level. Since as we all know air and international travel is all but closed at this time it comes to do they have.any coverage in your area of interest.
what about 5g?
Had AT&T forever, service was ok, switched to T-Mobile because it was a better deal and they had unlimited data.. kinda regretted it. Service is worse, I could hardly get a decent download speed on their 4G LTE/5 G map. Their map is false advertisement!
at&t all day, i remember the old iphones at&t would you let you multitask when you where on a call. t-mobile, verizon, etc would drop the call when you wanted to open an app while you where on a phone call

I’m from Nebraska and I work at best buy and AT&T by far as superior coverage here compared to T-Mobile and I have had a lot of T-Mobile customers switch to AT&T with no regrets
Why this feels like an advertising for att? They didn’t mention that TMobile doesn’t try to invent charges like att. I was an att customer for almost ten years. And they always add stuff to my plans to charge me more. I been with T-Mobile for over six years, and that never happened. So who’s better. 😂

AT&T is so much better than T-Mobile hands down, not to mention cheaper and better customer service all around!
from real world testing from me and a few of my friends, here’s our opinions:
at&t: dont use it. period, while ookla’s testing showed at& was faster, in our testing it was the slowest and way more inconsistant than t-mobile or verizon. also it had the worst coverage out of all of them we tested, both cricket and base at&t. call quality was trash too, you where lucky if you could hear more than 2 words per sentence if you had enough signal to even say a sentence.
t-mobile: coverage was weird. some parts of both our home town and various other towns either had better coverage than verizon, comparible or rarely none. data was actually the fastest, but mediocre stability. some places we would get edge (mainly in small stores in the outskirts of cities or during driving in backroads), others we would get 4g and some of us with 5g phones had actually the best 5g coverage out of all (even though it was the slowest 5g standard). test was taken both on metropcs, t-mobile and mint
verizon: best coverage, we never dipped out of service besides driving through mountain lands in places like newburg, while the data was mediocre. the data also was stable, but the speed wasnt as stable as the lte connection. also, hands down the best 5g standard if it worked inside buildings or in more than like 5 cities. we tested it on both tracfone and base verizon
straight talk uses all 3 of them and switches between towers to get the best signal possible. if you’re looking only for coverage for traveling inside of the us, and you dont care much about speed, go with them.
other things to say
– at&t had the worst support team and the worst setup, they where the only company we had problems that fully prevented us from activating, and we had to stay on hold for ages to fix them.
– t-mobile had the best perks, as said in the video. they did forget to mention t-mobile tuesdays, basically every tuesday you get little free gifts. we didnt test it much though
– verizon had the best coverage, but in certain places t-mobile had the best (as in some cities, like our hometown). this could be maybe because of private companies having their own t-mobile cell towers or exclusivity deals, however the last exclusivity deal cellularone of east texas had was with verizon, but that ended in around 2010 or so.
– t-mobile and verizon support teams were very close but t-mobiles came out on top as they were less robotic and seemed a lot more friendly, even though the person at the t-mobile store spelled my name wrong.
– im still pissed about mint removing their monthly plans
now here’s some recommendations and after that i’ll shut up:
for speed: go with t-mobile.
for 5g: verizon if you live in a large city where they have it and you stand still while using your data
for budgeting: go with tracfone if you’re going pre-paid, or t-mobile if you’re going post-paid
for traveling inside the country: go with straight talk or verizon
for traveling outside the country: go with t-mobile, they’re international so you won’t have to buy another plan to use your phone somewhere in europe (my friend in romania was helping with testing t-mobile outside of the us as telekom romania is owned by the same company t-mobile is owned by).
for living somewhere that no one else does (like wyoming): verizon, because you’ll be lucky to even get any services, let alone phone service, if you live in places like wyoming
if you hate yourself: at&t because using at&t is like digital self-harm
T-Mobile gives out a lot of value while AT&T gives our more reliability with that said. i have both … use both for different things
