My charcoal is in the way…. very excited to have it the more reviews I see… Great review by the way!

  2. Brian Glaze on October 17, 2020 at 7:17 pm

I don’t have much use for it at this time but the technology seems cool.

  3. danielf4000 on October 17, 2020 at 7:17 pm

Do you know how it compares to the Sonos one? sound quality wise?

  4. INF J on October 17, 2020 at 7:19 pm

Will you compare two Nest Audio to two BOSE or Sonos speakers?

  5. N on October 17, 2020 at 7:19 pm

“Lose”? I think you mean “die”..

  6. Filip Nicola on October 17, 2020 at 7:20 pm

Was that a Victorinox Swiss Tool I saw at the start? Nice video too and I feel that the new Nest feels worth it, mostly as they might get some more deals on it down the line.

  7. thomas Vu on October 17, 2020 at 7:20 pm

    Happy Christmas

  8. John Manley on October 17, 2020 at 7:21 pm

Nice video. Hope this is not a dumb question, but if I’m say watching a YouTube video on my iPad, can I have the sound stream out of the Nest audio speaker? It should connect without issue through Bluetooth I would imagine.

  9. Nic Burrows on October 17, 2020 at 7:21 pm

Got 2 being delivered today. Really looking forward to setting them up. Thanks for the review – well considered and put together.

  10. Steeve Gaudreault-Lambert on October 17, 2020 at 7:22 pm

Since that product been released, my Google Home Mini start to sound bad. I hope they didn’t reduced the quality on other devices to make this one sounds better :/

  11. Jonathan Oren on October 17, 2020 at 7:22 pm

Anybody know why the new Google TV app is not working with the Google ultra with my voice asking Google to play a movie or a TV show?

  12. David Avilés Cano on October 17, 2020 at 7:22 pm

This comparison is awesome. Now we do need the final comparison: nest audio vs homepod mini. Looking forward watch it.

  13. Jack Mabry Jr on October 17, 2020 at 7:23 pm

I received mine on Thursday but didn’t find the limited eq controls until today in the Home app. I’m pretty satisfied with the purchase and I’m tempted to get a 2nd one. Great review sir.

  14. Tomas Hledik on October 17, 2020 at 7:25 pm

Hey man. Listening on my phone? This sound samples are nonsense. No difference…

  15. Tech With Brett on October 17, 2020 at 7:25 pm

Nice job Brandon! I have the Sky and I am really enjoying it! Pairing two totally fills up a room.

  16. Samuel Tan on October 17, 2020 at 7:25 pm

Hey Brandon have you ever tried audioengine a2+? I wanted to have a stereo speaker on my desk. I was thinking about audioengine a2+ and then this came out. Price of getting 2 google nest audio is 100 bucks cheaper in my country. Will you suggest spending extra 100 bucks for an audioengine product?

  17. ASWANTH VP on October 17, 2020 at 7:26 pm

Can I control a built-in chromecast enabled android TV with nest audio (on/off and open youtube commands)?

  18. Huey on October 17, 2020 at 7:26 pm

Nest Audio vs Google Home Max, just for shits ‘n’ giggles? 🙂

  19. shethsa on October 17, 2020 at 7:27 pm

Nice comparison. How’s the nest audio for voice quality on an audio /video call

  20. Marcin Jezierski on October 17, 2020 at 7:29 pm

Germany and UK will only have 2 colours ? that sucks ;/

  21. Mark Ingram on October 17, 2020 at 7:29 pm

Got mine this morning in the UK, the courier delivered it at 8am. Went with the charcoal (crappy choice of colours here, would have loved the sky). Still interested in seeing how it holds up to the new Echo 4th gen (only reviews I have seen so far are in hindi or Italian 🙄). Not quite as loud as I was expecting but the clarity is way better than the 3rd gen Echo IMHO.

  22. No Name on October 17, 2020 at 7:29 pm

Can someone else tell me if there google home still plays white noise??!!??!? Mine stopped all together

  23. Lunchos El Maximus on October 17, 2020 at 7:31 pm

Nest hub speaker isnt in the back. It faces forward and down into whatever it’s sitting on. Hub max has a rear woofer.

  24. Dez on October 17, 2020 at 7:31 pm

Can you pair these to the new Chromecast with Google TV?

  25. Art B on October 17, 2020 at 7:31 pm

Great review! Very informative. In your opinion, what’s one of the best speakers within 200 dollars for pure sound quality and not necessarily smart speakers.

  26. Fraser Poole on October 17, 2020 at 7:33 pm

Thanks for your review, I just purchased a pair. It’s great that you criticised it, I don’t feel very informed with a glowing review. Nothing is perfect, especially at this price.

  27. Hellcat M on October 17, 2020 at 7:36 pm

From what I hear the Nest Audio has better sound than the first version of the Sonos, but not as good as the latest version. BUT Sonos also has the problem that when they upgrade their speakers the new versions don’t work with the older versions in the app.

Now Ikia has a version of the Sonos speakers that are $100 and from what I hear they sound really good so they may be a future video? https://www.ikea.com/us/en/p/symfonisk-wifi-bookshelf-speaker-black-00357561/ I see they also have a lamp version for 189.

The thing is will the Google speakers work with a TV? I’m guessing if yes the TV would need to have Bluetooth because there isn’t a way to hook them up to your TV otherwise which is kind of a bummer because my TCL 5 series doesn’t have Bluetooth.

  28. Dimas W. Pratama on October 17, 2020 at 7:38 pm

Hey Brandon, great video as always and thanks for the review! I like the way you presented it, because it’s very understandable for an audio noob like me.

Btw do you have any recommendation for the best (delight to dollar ratio) speaker for a TV in bedroom? Plugged or portable doesn’t matter as long as it doesn’t use difficult setup like mixer or required more than 2 devices installation.

  29. Danny Tantri on October 17, 2020 at 7:45 pm

Just found this channel and loving your approach to speaker testing. Please do a comparison between this and the JBL link series, including the link bar (if you dare!) You’re doing a great job. Please continue making more videos!

  30. MJNS301 on October 17, 2020 at 7:47 pm

I think I’ll stick with my Elac Debut B6’s. 😉

  31. LuLszic Gaming on October 17, 2020 at 7:50 pm

If you’re a Sound guy you should review Homepod. Even if you hate Apple products you can at least appreciate how Homepod sounds. I bet you’ll get mind blown playing Solar Sailer 9 feet away from the Homepod at just 19% volume 👍

  32. Andreas Söderberg on October 17, 2020 at 7:50 pm

Im getting 3 of these for the price of 2 today 😎

  33. Paul Colella on October 17, 2020 at 7:51 pm

Can 2 be paired in true stereo?

  34. Duggi on October 17, 2020 at 7:53 pm

finally a reasonable and honest review of such smarthome speakers.
    everything done right.
As an audiophile, I can only confirm the placement and the room itself makes such a difference in sound quality.
you should shown people how loudspeakers sound like in a real life scenario … for example close to the wall on a bookshelf or away from the wall in listening height.

  35. i QCWUNT on October 17, 2020 at 7:53 pm

I sort of really hate the colour. I am looking to replace my speaker.

  36. starkillermx on October 17, 2020 at 7:54 pm

Wich one have better audio quality? New Nest or Sonos One 2. Great video. Many thanks!

  37. Teck ErZ on October 17, 2020 at 7:56 pm

Such a great video! I’ve subscribed with how well done this review was! Funny how you brought up Sonos and honestly the reason I’m watching this is because I’m looking to replace my 4 month old Sonos Ones because of how awful the Sonos experience has been. Thank you for this!

  38. Morgan Bird on October 17, 2020 at 7:57 pm

    LOL at the debate meme

  39. Zacharia Zuehlke on October 17, 2020 at 8:00 pm

Glad you reviewed this because I really like the idea of having audio all over the house wirelessly and the sound quality on the nest audio seems pretty well rounded for a such a cheap smart speaker..

Also I listened to that Daft Punk song with my Pixel Buds 2 (bass boost on of course) and holy fuck you weren’t lying about that bassline lol

  40. Brad Tomlinson on October 17, 2020 at 8:03 pm

Thank you for your review of the Nest Audio speaker. I have bought two of them, and I have placed one in my Great Room and one in my den. They both sit on a table that is against a wall and are facing outward toward the center of the rooms they are located in. I also have two Nest Hub Maxes, one in each of those two rooms. Each of the Nest Audios are the default music speakers for the Nest Hub Maxes in the rooms the Nest Audios are in. I control the Nest Audios with their respective Maxes.

I am enoying very much the music that is coming from the Nest Audios. The music fills the rooms very well and is bright sounding. I usually listen to contemporary jazz and a little classical music. To me the music from the Nest Hub Maxes does not sound quite as good, probably because the music is coming from the back of those devices. I am certainly not an audio expert, and I don’t have the best hearing in the world. However, especially at $100 apiece, they are an excellent addition to my smart home.

  41. Bruce Walker on October 17, 2020 at 8:05 pm

That notion "you can connect to speakers via Bluetooth" is unhappily not a viable option. The Bluetooth delay is random and variable so can’t be compensated for, but worse there’s a years old bug that prevents casting to groups where any member is paired to a Bluetooth device!

So hang onto those precious Chromecast Audio devices, folks. 🙂

I’m super happy with my three Nest Audio speakers, by the way. Thanks for this!

  42. Samuel Brading on October 17, 2020 at 8:05 pm

    Thanks for your review

Hi, is it possible to connect this speaker to my laptop via bluetooth to use it as a pc speaker ?

  50. no name on October 17, 2020 at 8:13 pm

better quality sound due to the internal speaker upgrades sure but I still feel this device needs some sort of display (besides the boring four white lights)
